@@quamors Even the little ones aren't really safe. If you get bitten, seals in general have some nasty bacteria in their mouths. "Seal finger" is more treatable now but you used to just have to amputate if you were unlucky. With that said it's still dangerous to this day, especially since a lot of people don't tend to get non venomous bites checked out.

Warm coat, and the meat is good for the dogs and emergencies. That fuzzy thing that protects the seal and makes it so perfect as a cute animal is the same thing that makes the difference between life and death in cold weather. If you removed the element of survival from the equation I think they're really cute and wholesome animals.

please stay 150 ft away from seals. if you can do a thumbs up and still see them behind your thumb, then you are too close. Being too close to seals causes them distress and to flee to the water. Please respect wildlife

@@TheHeavyDead420 .....the infant seal is literally trying to get away in the video. It doesn't know what we are besides big weird animals in it's space without it's mother for protection. Like it's fucking common sense not to mess with a wild baby animal. Mom seals don't like the come back on their beach to get their pup when there are people around, they will abandon their pups if there are too many predators. Sometimes human scent on their baby is enough to make them abandon it. I'm not just making up 150 feet- it's a law from the The Marine Mammal Protection Act that was set in place in 1972. I know you probably won't even read this, but just fucking respect animals it isn't hard.

Wild animals are called that for a reason. Always do them a favor and give them plenty of space. You really never know if angry mother is nearby or what that animal will do. Far too often we’re seeing innocent wild animals be put down because tourists get too close and get hurt.

Seriously though, one should actually fuck off when seeing a baby seal. Otherwise it will die because their pack won't come back to it. Instead, contact the local breeding station, and call the police if you see other tourists disturbing the seals.

Do not approach seals, not only for your own safety but theirs as well. Seals are mostly solitary creatures with terrible mobility on land. You tower over them, and stress them out. The older individuals will either flee or if they feel cornered, try to bite. Seals harbor nasty bacteria in their mouths that could result in very serious infections. Baby seals, while less dangerous to humans, can be abandoned if the mother feels it is no longer safe to be in the area, or die of stress. It’s actually quite sad something so cute is so terrified of humans. No matter how cute they are, do not approach the seals. Stay well away from them.

This little visit didn't hurt that seal one bit. I had no intention of harming it and if you watch and had I kept filming you would have seen I backed off immediately and left the area. We are a small land area that has 8 million of harp seals just in the northern part of the province. About 300 dead ones washed ashore this week and wildlife officials didn't give second thought about them. My friend was calling and emailing to report it and had to contact media before anything was even investigated. The majority of the people here bashing me have no idea about this animal, nor do they know I backed off and left it alone. Internet is filled with ignorance anyway.

IN THE VIDEO, you are disrespecting that seal's personal space. What DO YOU not understand seeing these comments telling you not to harass a baby seal? Because in the video, that is literally what you're doing. So you talking about all this mumbo jumbo about your friends, you giving us knowledge you know about seals will not distract the fact that you approached a baby seal to the point where it was uncomfortable and you posted it online. And you expected no feedback? Are you this delusional? You can keep falling into your own delusion, but I'm just letting you know that you're in the wrong and you always will be.
