Bad Religion Is a band that I have always known about, but never paid much attention to. Being an '80s metal head, I didn't listen to much else, though I had a strong appreciation for punk. 35 years later, a good friend of mine turned me on to these geniuses. And at 56 years old, I can't get enough of them. Easily in my top 10 favorite bands of all time. Working their way to the top five. God I love these guys!

They are the bad that got me into punk rock; I was always into 70s and 80s metal and they opened the door for me. I got to see them live 3 times, I highly recommend you see them, they are amazing live.

Greg Graffin has musical perfection. He's not anti religion, just anti corruption and counter-cultural. Christianity is also essentially counter-cultural by very definition. In fact, the existence of God has already been scientifically proven by secular scientists. Research "Eucharistic Miracles".

With all respect, that doesn't "prove" a God (any number of them) exists. Science can not prove a "God" exists. I believe it to be silly time make-believe mythology, while my two closest friends believe wholeheartedly and one is a musical director for his church. They both agree that they don't know for certain, it's just something they cling to from childhood. If we all just act kindly to one another... then we are our own Gods. Hope this finds you well and not taken as a slight. Be well ! @LectioDivina-zi5mi

The song is a satire of the nationalist ideologies like MAGA. Showing 'how they are the way the system alienates the people like a cult, and how this way of thinking is the cause of some mayor problems like inequality, war, poverty and even, teen pregnancy and child abandonment.@@2.4.2

***** It's about as much about religion as Bad Religion actually thinks religion is bad. (they don't, they just adopted the name to piss off their parents, and since then they've used religion to refer to oppressive institutions, independent of whether or not the institution is religious). Anyway, the nationalism in and of itself has nothing to do with Christianity, it's just because America is a predominantly Christian nation it factors into the symbolism, but the nationalism would exist regardless of the religion.

it's all piss in the same pot. there seems to be a fervent belief amongst republicans that god has a vested interest in a country created 4 and a half billion years after the earths inception.

***** The problem is you think Christianity is why people did all those things, rather than it being that people wanted to do those things, and then they tried to work Christianity into the framework in order to justify it. If you've studied history it's pretty clear that's how it actually works. Some important things to point out is that long ago pretty much everyone was a-okay with slavery, but Christianity actually paved the way for abolishing that because the roots of individualism and humanism are in Christianity. That got suppressed for like a thousand years because of the raise of orthodoxy, but eventually it popped back up in the renaissance, who merged Christian and classical ideals.

  • @ganondorfchampin

***** Also, a lot of the things you are referring to aren't actually in the bible at all, they're just Catholic doctrine. Much of that comes from Neo-platonic and Aristotelian philosophy, not Christianity.
