A $20 hour gauge on Amazon (cost to Toro would be $10) is something that would go a long way to boost perceptions about Toro’s.
I bought the bad boy because it’s made in Batesville, Arkansas USA any time I can support an American company I will.

I bought a Badboy Magnum 54 inch in 2013. It started having mucho problems at the 3 year mark. It was in the shop so much I had to hire someone to cut my grass. It also has next to no seat suspension and threw my back out with my bumpy land. It finally caught fire and had to junk it. This year I bought a Myride Toro and what a difference for my back. Thanks, Toro.

Thanks for the input and for watching! Those myrides are so comfortable
When I was looking for a zero turn I was leaning towards the Bad Boy because I have never had much good luck with Toro.
I have the Bad Boy and LOVE it
Thanks going with bad boy
I’ve had nothing but problems with my Toro Timecutter SS5000. Whenever it’s been running for about 45 minutes the left wheel basically has no power. I suspect a transmission issue. It’s constantly going through belts faster than I would’ve expected. And the starter is absolutely awful.
The frame on the Toro timecutter is channel, not tubular steel like most others. Also even without MyRide, the timecutter still doesn't have a flip up foot plate. Then there's the deck chute that doesn't have the option of staying up but that's probably because the blade would then be exposed due to the cutout 🤦🤦

Definitely like that bad boy has the flip up access. Part of why toro has the cut out is for the lift capacity when using a bagger option. Thanks for watching
I think Bad Boy has it beat... except for - suspension, Warranty and big box store discount pricing.

Suspension is a huge deal for the long run
Both are decent machines for the price just be sure you buy one with a Kawasaki engine you will thank me for that! I am on year 8 on my Bad Boy 48" MZ with a Kawasaki FR engine its ran perfect for years not one problem out of it. I am not a Fan of Kohler unless its a Kohler Command.
In the market and just looked at all the mowers... ALL the fucking mowers, haha. As a dude who just wants to cut his yard.... I'm down to choosing between Toro Timecutter 50 with a Kawasaki engine and either the Hustler Raptor XL or XD. Cub Cadet ZT2 54 was also in the mix but lost out solely because the Toro-Hustler dealer is like 8 minutes from my house vs about 20-25 minutes from my house with the Cub dealer. Scag, Gravely, Gravely Jr AKA Ariens (its the same fucking mower I don't care what anyone says), Husqvarna, Ferris, etc..... all super nice but either stupid expensive or just the dealer is too far out.... 20-25 minute drive. I don't get how/why there's such a variance in price when pretty much every mower brand uses 1 of 3 engines and 1 of 2 transmissions... brand-wise. It's really just down to what "team" color you want and how much you're willing to pay for a hood ornament. Bad Boy was a solid AF looking machine - I mean everything I looked at structurally looked pretty damn sound. I'd have a hard time saying one looks significantly more sturdy/ solidly built compared to the next. I'd say the reason Bad Boy got bumped from my list and replaced with Toro was because of the myride. Holy fuck is that shit comfy. Made the Ferris look like shit IMO. I'm sure I'm pissing off some fanboys. But my ass, literally, don't lie. It must definitely liked the Toro Myride the most when it came to comfort. It's no joke like riding a recliner. So I'm down to the Toro 50" TC MyRide, Hustler Raptor XL or XD. The hustlers were also fairly comfortable too despite the lack of suspension - comfy seat though. They're in the mix mainly because the dealer I landed on also offers them. It's actually the main brand they push. But also because I've heard good things about Hustlers. Outside of the fanboys for Bad Boy here on KZread if you actually go online and look up mower forums..... Bad Boy doesn't get exactly sunshine and rainbows for reviews. Seems to be a lot of issues with belts. That was the main thing I kept reading over and over again. It is funny in the forum world because people will dog Toro because it's an "entry level" brand.... I guess that's how it's viewed.... despite pretty much every golf course I've ever been to uses Toro equipment but whatever, haha. But it was odd reading exmark lovers dog Toro. Toro makes exmark. And has done so for decades now. They're pretty much the same mower. I hopped on an exmark quest series today.... it was a timecutter. I got Hustler XL AND XD in the mix because the XD has serviceable Transmissions. Pretty sure for my use - using it as a normal riding lawnmower... doing homeowner shit with it - it really doesn't matter if the Trans are serviceable or not. But for only $500 more... meh, might as well throw it in the mix. It's pretty much the only difference between it and Hustler's XL. So if anyone has any opinions on those 3 I'm all ears. 50" Timecutter myride, Raptor XL, and Raptor XD..... any input would be appreciated. So long as it's relevant. Again, the driving factor for choosing between those 2 brands is solely the proximity to the dealer. So don't be butthurt if I'm not considering your fanboy brand of choice.... that uses the same engine.... and transmission.... making it pretty much the same fucking machine anyways, haha. Honestly, if the dealer wasn't the furthest away.... I'd probably be owning a Country Clipper right now. Never heard of that brand but holy shit their mowers are cool. Comfortable ride, flip up deck, and JOYSTICK controls.... none of this lever bullshit, haha. Those are some cool ass mowers no one seems to be talking about. Pricey.... but worth it because at least they're doing shit differently. I know scag has a ton of ardent supporters. It's a friggin mower. Using the same parts as everyone else. I didn't see anything special with it.... other than it's overpriced price tag. Seems like it's the Apple (computer) of mowers. Well... that's not fair. I'd say Grasshopper is more like that but Scag is a very close 2nd.

Yes! Great review. You reenforced my choice of the Toro 54 inch my ride. I would get the 60 inch my ride havoc on sale right now but shipping cost put it out of my price range. (Tractor supply why won't won't you ship it to your store instead of white glove service delivery only?)
Can you compare the new 2024 time cutter MAX havoc vs the bad boy ?

I'm shopping for mowers now. The bad boy was the only mower I looked at that had a 7 gauge deck. All the residential lines of the other ones had a 10-gauge deck. Leaning hard toward the bad boy right now
@joshwrogers
Жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing until someone at a dealer told me that 7 gauge is only important if you’re cutting unfamiliar property with stumps and things that can harm your deck/spindles if you hit them. Other than that it’s complete overkill if you mow the same yard and not worth the added weight. 10 gauge is still better than most in the industry at this price point. Don’t make your decision on the 7 gauge deck.

Example of a biased review
All you toro dealers need to stop comparing other mowers cause you don’t put the whole truth out there about either. Also you make what you sell seem so much better when some things are clearly not. Only ppl know that when they have been around both.. tell ppl how bad the electrical system is on the toro when it gets wet from washing it!!! Also when it shorts out the $150 parts toro doesn’t cover it under their warranty cause the customer got it wet!! Lol.. tell them to put water proof connections on it and not screw the customer!
Time for a 2024 update
Magnum has a 5 gallon gas tank. Bigger than the time cutter.

The Bad Boy has Grease fittings on the spindles and all over the chassis. The Toro only has them on the Wheel bearings. Also, Toro only has a 1/2 belt; Bad Boy has 5/8 for a 54" mower.
Bad Boy has a 7 gauge deck.

I am repairing a bad boy magnum for a friend. Parking brake cable and pump belt. I have never seen such primitive assembly work by a factory. Engineering 101...nothing pivots on bolt threads! Also, there is no anti scalp feature for elevating the deck. Not my king of merchandise.
FYi... your audio way to hard to deal with... echo.... good luck...
Oh, don't mention the price of both. He is comparing apples and oranges. Be fair and compare the toro with the elite. Same price point. The magnum is our entry level mower.

The suspension on the Toro (in this case) is better. Bad Boy used to be junk 15 years ago, and is now a real competitive zero turn player (along with Spartan). Toro has always been decent, but nothing spectacular.
