Delivered a nice even cut, has the super tight turning ability kzread.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend I was looking for, and is just a blast to drive. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!

I bought my Exmark 5 years ago and had Toro mowers prior to that. At that time the underside of the cutting deck was compartmentalized differently and did provide a slightly better cut. But one of the biggest differences was that I was able to customize the Exmark by picking out the engine that I wanted along with the deck size, and other items, whereas when I bought the Toro, it only came one way, no options, no choices in engine type, nothing.........take it or leave it. Hopefully Toro will allow some customization now.

I've owned both for many years and cut quality is the same as is the striping. It really comes down to specs, price and dealer. I've been lucky in that my dealer sells both Toro and Exmark but most don't. Choose a reputable dealer and a machine that fits your needs and you won't disappointed in either brand.

We have run Toro since our beginnings in the 1980’s and for us it comes down to 1. cutting quality/deck design and reliability 2. Dealer service and support 3. Machine availability and standardization especially for the our mechanics. Therefore we run Toro for all our Sport Field, Golf Course and Commercial Maintenance teams and been very pleased with the manufacturer. ExMark makes a quality product even before they were purchased by Toro but for our company and various services we provide the standardization works well for us but every company is different so they need to determine what fits best for the services they provide and dealerships parts and services in their area.

Not a commercial guy but I do enjoy cutting grass and perfectly maintaining my mower. Don't laugh at my naivete (maybe a little) but I have a Toro MX5050 50" fabricated deck with the Kohler 7000 KT735 24hp engine. I maintain 1-1/2 acres cutting at 4" and bagging clippings from my TTTF lawn. I read about the exceptional cut of a Scag TT2 or an Emark Laxer Z, etc. Not sure what defines an exceptional cut and would love for someone experienced in these matters to define what is meant by it My Toro MX5050 ($4,000), cuts the lawn so even and smooth, although it is cut to a height of 4", it looks like it is only 2" due to the thickness of the lawn and the precise, even cut. Never any stringers or double cuts. note: I have a professional blade sharpner which I use to maintain 4 sets of 32 degree angle sharpened blades which I change out every 8 cuts. Thanks for your comments.

Rumor years ago was that Toro bought Exmark because they wanted their deck design. And I can pretty much confirm they are similar “tractors” with different decks going back 20+ years. I’m probably going to be putting a Toro deck under a LazerZ in the next couple days unless my friend gets my hydro pump rebuilt on the ZMaster. Between the decks, they look similar but the toro uses bigger spindles and a single belt for the mule drive and blades. The exmark has smaller spindles and pulleys and 2 separate belts - one for the deck spindles and another between the engine and the deck. All hangers look identical so I’m hoping my experiment works. Incidentally on the subject of hydro systems, between the 3 machines I have they all use the same wheel motor but all 3 pumps are different. The exmark has a 22hp liquid cooled Kaw, while the 2 ZMasters have 27hp liquid cooled Kaws. Can’t really discern much difference between the way they run.

I got my staris e 36in. In 2019 as it was the only stand on available within 4 hrs drive of me. Also no toros came with solid front tires or or kawasaki fs600. Even today the grandstand 36 gets the kawasaki 541. But nearly everthing else is identical. I believe my next unit will be a toro. If the price is better and the the units are identical.

Both bear types are similar when taking axial loads however the tapered roller bearings produce more heat at high speed hence the need for regular greasing. They are made by Loncin and are known worldwide for reliability and longevity. They are the Toyota of the small engine industry. Loncin is a respected brand name worldwide.

@@bradbailey3500 Yeah, OK. The bottom line is they are another way for the manufacturer to make more profit. You can say what you want about Chinese engines but there is no one in the lawn industry that would prefer a Chinese engine over a Kawasaki, Vanguard, etc.

@@bradbailey3500 Explain what I don't know about, please. If people preferred the Chinese engines on lawn equipment, how come Exmark only offers them on their economy models? There's certainly no Lazer Z X series with a Chinese engine. Nothing wrong with making a profit, but many potential buyers of an expensive Exmark mower have no idea the mower they are buying has a Chinese engine.

A branded motor is not avalible in the Lazer series. I had a 54" toro proline hdx that I sold to buy a 52" lazer e..i am much much happier with the Lazer

Years ago the Toro Company bought Exmark because Exmark had superior quality and design. Exmark was getting a substantial foothold in the market so Toro bought them. Toro used a stamped deck for their zero-turn mowers. Exmark continued using the superior welded deck.

Absolutely untrue! Toro had fabricated decks long before they acquired Exmark. Since then they both have benefited from shared engineering.

Timbuck….your right I have had exmark for years and years…..toro did have stamped decks..like John Deer,,and some others…Exmark first “quest” came out with a stamped deck…but the low end didn’t appeal to me, its the welded Exmark design that makes the FINISH CUT WELL ABOVE THE REST, Toro purchased Exmark but the lawful written agreement said that Toro cannot ever use the Exmark design…its in writing!!

@@Sluggo01 thank you. Back in the mid-nineties I was a golf course grounds manager where we used Toro equipment. At that time Toro promoted their 72" groundsmaster rotary for deep rough mowing. Mind you this was before finished cut rotaries were available from The Big Three - Toro, Jacobson and John Deere. My course had a lot of different grasses in the primary rough, many with seed heads. I decided to buy two Exmarks (36" if I remember correctly) rather than the groundsmaster. The Exmarks ran circles around a groundsmaster and provided a clean finished cut even on mounds in the primary rough. Also, if we fell behind mowing from the rainfall the Exmarks would provide a better cut than our reel mowers. If I remember many golf courses started buying Exmarks. This caught the attention of Toro who would later purchase Exmark.

@@timbuck2-pv4ce spot on….like to hear from actual experience…so correct what your saying….Toro as a leading course turf management till others said we can do better…better when wet as well….my Xmark can throw wet clippings 2 rows away!! Meaning it clears itself for the next blade of turf…!! Thanks
