Bad Blades Ruin Spindles on a Husqvarna Riding Mower Easy Diy Tips. How to replace noisy spindles
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Deck spindles are noisy from running mower with worn out bad blades that are out of balance.
This video will show you how to replace them and tips on what to look for when replacing them. Like changing from a flat washer to a cupped washer on your blade bolts.

Thanx old dude! (Yer brothers)
5:00 great tip! After I changed spindles I noticed that blade is wobbling as you said (I just bought used yth 18542). I ordered new cup bolts but in meantime I fabricated additional washers out of sheet metal (sits between old bolt and the blade). That made blades sit tight for now.
I luv the electric hitch. It makes doing these repairs much simpler. I've been lifting my lately with a tractor front loader or just drive the setup on rhino ramps.
1983 Snap on ! AND NEVER REPLACED THE BATTERY!😂🤣👍🏾

Yes it was very loud my friend awesome video
Thanks for the tip on making sure the blades are even. I'm working on an identical mower right now. The main complaint is the blades don't cut even. Guess why? This guy mows anything in his way, rocks, hunks of scrap metal, anything!! Thanks again, great video
You were right the first time. There are teeth on the pulley. Splines are found on a shaft, in this case, the spindle shaft.
Great video on changing the spindles on a HusQ. Thank you for sharing with us!

good video. its amazing how many people refuse to take care of their stuff because they dont want to spend the money as they see it as unnecessary. probably from a complete lack of understanding anything about this stuff. Also you should NEVER use any power equipment bare foot or even in sandles. Always wear at least full covering shoes like sneakers. Always.
Thank you T Bone for the info

I've never seen blades THAT torn up. Those blades are made of special heat treated alloy steel. They are strong. I cut a 3/4 inch steel pipe fitting in half mowing along a canal. I saved it for years.
Nice video T-Bone, you always make it look so easy brother. 🙂👍 Hey Mrs T-Bone 👋
Perfect video about replacing blades and spindles on this machine. You mentioned the air hose leaking sound. I have that same leaking sound and I do not even have a compressor.

Just wondering if there are any issues with jacking mower up like that? Wondering about the oil in the engine doing damage? Maybe a good time to drain oil first. Thanks for this!!!!

😆 parts were filmed a week apart. It was supposed to be last Friday's video. I slipped up and didn't have spindles in stock because forgot to order them. Lmao 🤣
My wife's rider I had to do some maintenance on. Just got it out of storage. First mow was good. This one today lots of grind noise and worse on turns. I see you raised the mower up like that. The oil and gas doesn't leak out?
@RaleysSmallEngines

If your tank is under the seat just remove gas cap and put a plastic bag over tank and reinstall gas cap. I do it everyday and no issues.
The 6-point star on my Craftsman pro series 46-inch appears worn on both spindles. I suspect as a result of my heavy-duty Oregon blades striking the top of a tree root, etc. I have approximately 250 hours on my tractor. Can I just order and replace the center shaft and 6-point star - or should I order an entire assembly as you did in this video? I don't have an impact wrench but I'm okay using a ratchet wrench. Where do you recommend I purchase the replacement parts. We no longer have Sears anywhere in Hawaii. Thanks!
My Deere D130 just started having the blades kissing each other intermittently, about every 10-15 seconds. It didn't do that when I replaced the spindles and the blades last summer. I have no clue what changed over the winter. I am tempted to sharpen and reinstall the old blades to see if that resolves the problem. Ever come across an issue like that?
I have a Husqvarna YTH22v46 that started making horrific banging noises underneath and couldnt find any cause. All pulleys and spindles seem to spin normally (at least I think). I started pulling blades off. One blade has the metal "wing" broken off and the mounting bolt was barely tight. Once removed and mounting surfaces wire brushed, i could not for the life of me get the 5 stars to line up! It seems the 5 stars on the spindle shaft are disfigured and worn way short. The other blade had the bolt cross-threaded so it ripped all the threads out of the shaft when i forced it out. Question - should i go ahead and just replace all deck idlers along with the spindles and belts for a "once and done"? This mower is only 3yrs old, but was used for a commercial mowing business for 2 years. I believe the hour meter shows about 190 hours now. The mower was certainly beat to hell, but i got it cheap. I just want to avoid dropping the deck twice, or ruining new spindles. Thanks!
You probably caught it later but I noticed the right front tire was almost flat when it was up for servicing

Good eye, yes we fixed it
I don't see where the "spindle is ruint". Mine is, on one side, the star is gone. Do I have to replace both? Is the orientation of the new blades random? anywhich way?
What size deep well socket for the big bolt you removed @2:40 ?
Are these Husqvarna blades defective where the dove tail sheers off
Its that Columbia sand. Every time you cut grass its like sandblasting your blade and mower deck.

New bearing are sealed grease cant get in or out now if you put in new ones your self take out the inside seal and then you can grease but the first time you grease them it may thke a whole tub of grease for both spindles not just 5 or 6 pumps of the gun
@terryskinner9521
Жыл бұрын
What keeps the outer seals from popping out when u grease them?
@petesmith3923
5 ай бұрын
Well actually that's incorrect, the seals only marginally keep debris out and grease in. A grease gun will generate 1,000 to 5,000 PSI, will definitely go past the seal. Test it out, keep pumping and you will see grease come out the other side of the seals.
What if your blades want turn
Worn out and badly out of balance will crack deck and destroy brg
I take the new ones apart and remove the inside plastic covers every time and grease them Info the owner theses are now to be greased
how just how did they blades get like that
what is the average life span of spindles on a rider???
Ouch my ears what is wrong with people 🤷
Blades like that ya might as well mow the lawn with hammers.

You don’t mow barefoot
Why did you grease a sealed bearing if you knew it was sealed? WTF? You should have removed the inside seal so the grease would do some good. How stupid.
@Mrs.T-bone
Ай бұрын
That is a topic that is highly debated among mechanics. I tend to agree with you but there are a whole other set of individuals that swear the grease will get inside. We grease whether the bearings are sealed or not mainly to avoid conflict 🙄
As to the dead battery. My Craftsman DLS3500 46” Riding Lawn Mower Tractor has engine 31P977-0635 E1 0608157D which according to Briggs and Stratton the alternator output for charging "is unregulated in that the energy delivered to the battery is totally dependent on engine speed." As these charging systems aren't regulated, to prevent the battery from being overcharged, they seem to return just enough to hopefully start the engine the next time you need it and always having the battery only partially charged. After mowing charge the battery overnight on a battery charger/maintainer and you will probably find your engine starts better (especially if you have to crank it due to flooding,etc) and the battery will last much longer. Hope this helps.
