Just a heads up. I would blur out any businesses or street signs if you are going to walk in these areas often. There are a lot of wierdos in Vegas/KZread. I live here too. Keep up the great content. I really appreciate how Leila talks about her thoughts and how to overcome them. They are definitely chains that can bind us to inaction.

Amazing. Leila really thinks about the answers right on the spot, speaking from the heart, its raw, not picture perfect polished footage in a beautiful studio. Just on a walk, not knowing where they are heading, not being dressed up for a photoshoot (although she always looks great) not in a private jet with 5 sell phones to her ear to prove her success .. none of that, but like this, and it is perfect and authentic! And thats why we love you! Thank you, Leila

I get what you’re saying about depression Leila. I could’ve been diagnosed and medicated many times. Most of my friends were and several family members. At age 17, I sat in a car with 4 girls, all on Prozac. I looked around and thought, “Depression makes sense in this environment and these circumstances. I’m going to try changing my actual life instead and see if that works.” I left town and did all I could to upgrade my quality of life. It definitely worked. Nowadays, depression theorists posit that depression’s evolutionary function is to slow a human down enough to consider options via rumination, THEN to take the best course of action. The majority of people just stay stuck in the rumination phase. Why? Decisiveness appears to be a rare trait. Families and culture (especially schooling) often don’t develop decisiveness. I suspect a benefit of hands-off and even neglectful parenting is it gives space for young children to develop decisiveness at an early age. In some households decisiveness is necessary for survival. In other households, deferring to adults and authority is the only way to avoid punishment. I guess smart forward-thinking parents could and would explicitly scaffold learning to build decisiveness in children. It’s somewhat comical that the “worst” kind of parenting e.g. parentification (parent-child role reversal) and child neglect often develop the valuable trait of decisiveness by default.

Amazingly well said. I have a solution for your question at the end: The biggest thing that I have found in regards to teaching things traditionally thought of as difficult, anecdotally, is expressing intent early on in the process. Decisive action is a result of courage, and courage is born of strict adherence to principles despite extenuating circumstances. Therefore, the way to instill discipline into young minds is by communicating the intention behind hardship, then allowing for them to take responsibility for their own mistakes. This is not a hands off approach, as ensuring that the child does not perish in this somewhat harrowing process can be tricky, and this too requires courage. This approach to teaching also requires a lot of prophetic vision, as in the process of teaching discipline the teacher can often lose sight of the end goal as the student will inevitably become frustrated and agitated with their own lack of progress. This, again, will require strict adherence to principles on the teachers part. This demonstration of both forethought and courage will by osmosis be passed onto the student, as they are literally taking place in a virtuous cycle perpetuated by their teacher. Cheers!

@@jonahlee1272 thank you. Saving this in my notes and will return to it. Sounds a lot like individualised planning, setting the learning intention, scaffolding and modelling. I think the crux is also natural consequences, so they would experience the consequence of their "wrong" action or inaction directly and learn that way. Yes, discipline has to have a payoff, otherwise, what's the point? Principles and values are helpful as a guiding light, you're right, make decisions based on a framework. Let the virtuous cycles multiply!

Leila, i really enjoyed this format. I thinknthe original idea of vlogs was to take people along with you, to feel like you're there, but now they are all jump cuts and preframed. I love this. Walking with a friend. Plus, there's no questioning your intelligence when you are being asked questions on the spot, and answering them so thoughtfully. Im thrilled with your willingness to share your opinion and experience with anxiety and depression. I know it will ruffle feathers, but it's spot on. 100% responsibility with honesty that feelings will always be there and they can be uncomfortable. Loved this. Nice job Caleb too.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 More Walk and Talks Please!!! My favorite part of this video was seeing your thought process on a question if you don’t have the exact answer off the top of your head. I actually liked that it was in the evening bc I felt like I was having a real conversation with my friend on a neighborhood walk. I personally am a fan of more informal videos. I tend to connect more with the person. I do like other content formats, but I don’t tend to feel like clicking on it as fast as something more informal. I also LOVED the question and answer format. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Q&A’s from real people to leaders. You tend to get more practical information for real-life problems. I’ll have to say this video, so far, FOR ME and where I’m at in life, has been the most helpful. And you have TONNNNSSSS of helpful content. YOU ROCK!!!

1 - I like your new look very much, it fits beautifully. 2- About depression, I have would have self-pity and then depressed which leads to self-destructive behavior and has gotten me into lots of trouble. The youtuber Wes Watson said in one of his videos that self-destructive behavior is the epitome of selfishness. That really hit the nail for me. I never realized that selfishness could be manifested in self-destructive or self-pity behavior. So whenever I behave or going to behave like that, I remember his talk and I stop. It is very subtle and happens unconsciously, thus dangerous. And as it was shameful for you to gain from depression, it is shameful for me with self-destructive behavior for me. I'm ashamed to the core for my selfishness that hurts others and only think about myself. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciated the camera man's pursuit of greater and greater clarity because it drove even greater critical thinking and better answers from Leila than we otherwise may have gotten. On the other hand, I think there's a difference between needing more advice and needing a new frame. "How" should be a question, not an impulse. At times in life, you will need to be able to make good decision despite incomplete information, i.e. you will need to *become* the "how" as opposed to *ask* for the how. Robert Kiyosaki (hate him or love him) once said "You need to learn to become bigger than your problems," and I think there's a lot of truth to that.

Love you Leila! I think the difference between manifesting and what you do, is that you know you can do something if you just have the truth. How can you know where to go if you are pretending to be somewhere you’re not? Your roadmap will be totally skewed. I heard Lysa TerKeurst say onetime that she heard a new definition of sobriety which was “a commitment to the truth at all cost.” And I hear that in what you are saying.

"I've reached a point where I'm the happiest I've ever been. I'm not afraid of negative emotions or things going wrong. Accepting the bad has alleviated so much of my fear. What's been liberating for me is focusing less on my thoughts and more on my actions. I've learned that thoughts don't dictate my fate. This mindset shift has been key to managing the anxious thoughts that used to overwhelm me. I used to get caught in a loop of fear and anxiety, constantly self-monitoring and stressing over my thoughts. But now, I understand that it's not about avoiding negative thoughts; it's about not giving them undue importance. It's about detachment from these thoughts and focusing on actions. I've realized the power of acceptance. Accepting bad feelings and situations has been more helpful than trying to avoid them. This acceptance has taken away so much of the fear I used to have."

I appreciate the different perspective. I found that I dwell on negative thoughts and suffer from "paralysis of analysis". I started physical training and striving to put 5 more pounds on the bar. For me, taking action in a task improved my mental framework. As the weight got heavier, the mental fortitude had to grow as well. My point is, it's easy to get stuck in a negative state, taking action may be the best path out of it.

This would allow for a more planned and smoother walking path, helping to avoid any potential mishaps, like damaging your shoes. Walking on well-paved or even surfaces could contribute to a more comfortable experience. Camera Angle for Audience Engagement: To create a more immersive experience for your audience, the camera could film from a position slightly behind the cameraman. This perspective would give the illusion that the audience is walking alongside you, fostering a sense of inclusion and direct engagement as if they were part of the conversation. Engagement and Content Tips: Interactive Segments: Incorporate moments where you address the audience directly, perhaps by answering pre-submitted questions. This would make viewers feel more involved in the conversation. Scenic Variety: Change up the scenery occasionally to keep the visual backdrop interesting. Different locations can add a dynamic element to your discussions. Content Teasers: At the end of each walk, consider giving a teaser about the topic or theme of the next one. This can build anticipation and keep your audience looking forward to more. Overall, I believe these tweaks could significantly enhance the appeal and effectiveness of your walk and talk events. Your approach is innovative and engaging, and with these minor adjustments, I'm confident your future events will be even more successful. Keep up the fantastic work, and I look forward to seeing more of your creative and insightful content.

Thank you for sharing, extreme entrepreneurs are often labeled something that does not belong to us. This world does not understand an entrepreneur mindset.

Listened to this while on a walk of my own. Found it very insightful. 1 suggestion: There's a lot of asmr chewing. Maybe edit the audio with some AI type thing so that the pauses aren't as loud as the talking?

I've gotten more information that's actually applicable to life in real time than anyone i've ever spoken to in person or therapist i've paid. Unofficially my business and life coach :)
