Bacterial Pathogenesis: How Bacteria Cause Damage
So we know that there are unbelievable numbers of bacteria inside of us, and some of them are good. So what about the bad ones? What do those do? How do they harm us, exactly? What defenses do we have against them? Let's take a look!

i've always found it fascinating that many times the symptoms of bacterial infection are the result of our immune system's activation. thank you for the video.

A lot of information, a variety of knowledge, yours are amazing to see.
thanks Dave.. Great education. This is a very important presentation. Very valuable
Very enlightening and entertaining, thanks!
Haven't needed you in 3 years. Your chemistry videos saved my ass from failing a thrid time. Good to get a refresher, especially since I'm working at an animal hospital as a vet tech now

So which would be the top3 bacteria that can creat anxiety? ‘Nervous system infecting ones?’ Or gut? When I take antibiotics, I always feel super energized & anxiety disappears instantly
I assume mold Mycotoxins enter through the mucus membranes. Do you know what and how these mycotoxins ( i has exact types if you desire),effects the body systems? Would be a GREAT presentation for Utube! Thank you
bro u deserve millions of view... I like your video

You'd think it would rarely be in a bacterium's interest to harm the host enough to make the body react in such a way to attack it.

Bacteria don't have interests or agency.

@@ProfessorDaveExplains Yes, I understand that. I meant "in its interest" as in likely to increase fitness. I wonder why killing the host or being conspicuous enough to cause a reaction against it helps in this "goal." I suppose if syphilis gets a chance to spread to a new host before killing the host, it could be a net win.

I think I heard or red somewhere that the toxins made by bacteria are often it’s waste products, they don’t make them specifically to harm the host they just do. We also have bacteria that are able to live in us without causing damage, like our gut bacteria, but they will cause damage if they get to the wrong tissues, like the skin, instead of where they normally are. I forgot which one it is, but I heard there is a bacteria probably more, that usually don’t cause harm unless they find their way to places where they normally don’t live
Amazing
Professor Dave! You are fast becoming my Hero! I love these videos.. You said tears contain enzymes that fight bacteria--so does that mean they only fight bacteria they come in contact with as they run down your face? Probably a dumb question :( .

Bacteriocidal enzyme and the high salt content will allow them to kill bacteria on contact. So whether they run down your face and run into bacteria or are bacteria on the eye itself, it'll be effective.

How to turn our body into the worst experience for bacteria?
Plasmid is encoding exotoxin? pleas I need information about it
Is there any kind of bacteria that attacks one cell and then moves onto another one.
