This was an absolutely excellent lecture, thank you for producing it. I live in Naples Florida, south west Florida. I noticed on your range maps that the range stopped at about central Florida in the Tampa area. However, my local nurseries sell muscadines and I’m curious to know if you think they might be able to grow this far south? I’m in 10a.

I had never heard of a muscadine grape my ex sis n law mentioned it so I bought a startling from Ison's in 2019. I live in so. cali I planted it in april 1st 6months I got 3 grape just enough to see, taste and share. 2020 I had soooooooooooo many I still have some in the freezer. 2021 in 2 weeks I have gotten 11 pounds---OMG! sooooooo sweet and I add water-I throw NOTHING away. I 1st juice x2 and dehydrated the seeds, hulls and then make a powder to add to my drinks. I keep hearing no harvest for 3 years but that didn't happen hear.

if you want to add more vines (free) do not prune several long vines that will reach to ground do this in spring dig a small hole in the soil lay this vine in the holes scrape some bark that will be in the hole try to have about 12 inchs past the hole after you cover it (rooting power optional) check it about April or May for roots if so cut the vine going to mother plant let the new vine grow till next spring to transplant-----ad water as needed

i read where you can probegate muscadine vines by useing cuttings of the tip of a vine 12-15 INCHS take off all leaves except a small part of one at top of cuttings (optional dip end in rooting powder) place in potting soil 3-4 inchs deep wet it dont let it dry out it should root ps this means do not use hard wood for muscadines like you do for peach tree cuttings
