Thank you that’s so sweet! Unfortunately she and another hen were in a terrible neglect situation and were bald and malnourished. It’s taken her over a year to recover! But she flaunts it now 🤣

What a coincidence! I have been doing field trips too! They go out into the yard just fine and follow me back into their enclosed area great now. I had them out today and a hawk came and we practiced going right back into their pen and we just had gotten out there. They did great! We will wait til later! They are weeding my back yard and doing some renovations for me : )

I don't know why I am so happy, I'm not the chickens. LOL. I too want to let mine out to forage in the dead gardens - dead for the veggies we planted but not for the weeds. They produce darker/brighter orange yolks when they have access to greens because of the beta carotin in the greens. But my yard is too open - yesterday my next door neighbor's dogs got out and 'visited' my yard, luckily my chickens' village is a gated community now. Don't want to repeat the Jan 2023 massacre. I could weed the overgrown grass and vegetation and bring it to them but what I learned was this is where they could get impacted crops because they cannot 'cut' the grasses and try to swallow the blade whole. This also, I noticed, happened when I made fodder (grew oats or barley from seeds in trays indoor). The fodder doesn't have a hold at the root so when chickens peck on the fodder they likely get an entire blade of grass. Pecking on weeds directly from the ground is safer because the chickens 'knows' to just nibble at the tip and they won't get the entire length of the blade. They also get to catch insects that harbor under the leaves or in the ground, at the root of the weeds which means they are weeding for us.

Yes! In my ridiculous dream home I’ll have multiple garden zones and let the chickens rotate through the zones throughout the year ✌🏻❤️🐓

Oh no I’m so sorry. Yes I have bird netting above my whole run and you can see my videos. They were eating cat food out of the can! A protein boost especially since it’s been freezing here (and I have a protein video too!). ✌🏻❤️🐓
