Backyard Bows Bowtech SS34 Review

Overall one of my favorite bows not only from this year but from the beginning of backyard Bows. Advertised accurately is an understatement. So smooth you just have to try yourself.

    Thinking the single most relevant “ thing?” an archer can do is to use a bow that you can draw smoothly AND easily. For dozens of shots, not just few. This will give you more incentive to shoot AND you will become a better shooter. It’s about CONTROL. From the second you properly set your feet until the release has broken YOU need to control the the entire cycle. If you busting your guts to draw etc you are NOT in control. The bow is dictating what you’re going to do. And that will not work for anyone in the long run.

    I’m 61 years old and have been shooting compounds since I was 26. I’ve owned Hoyt, Bear, PSE, Martin and thought I’m just never going to find a bow I enjoy shooting. My PSE had a broken module and I wasn’t willing to wait 2 weeks for parts to come in because I’m leaving for elk in a month. I shot a new expensive Hoyt and buddy suggested I test the SS. OMG it was smootherat 69 lbs. compared to my PSE at 66. I bought it and was amazed how quickly it paired with my EZV bowsight. I’m over 1000 shots into it at my club and it’s the best (though nowhere near the most expensive) bow I’ve ever shot. Really happy with it

    I just need that bow.. I am shooting a bear legit and did great since I've entered 4 3d tournaments, and 8 club 3d events. Had my main string changed because of my form.. nightmare since the past 4 months.. this is the best bow for the bucks spendeded. We do not have any good thechs in my area and doing set up yourself is the was to go. That bow his perfect.. I have a max draw at 60 pounds with my bow because of my 27 28 inch draw. Tried it at 70 and it's barely as had to pull as 60 on my bow.. can't wait to be able to get some money to buy it. Great review man! Cheers from Québec Canada! 🎯👌👍👊❤️

    This is a highly touted bow that has one major flaw: after about 100 arrows shot, the cams eat into the strings. No dealer wants to talk about it, for obvious reasons. Get yourself an Athens Vista 35. Great hold at full draw, smooth draw cycle, easy to tune, great fit and finish, $100 less, no serving separation issues. Buy this and Bowtech's CS will ignore all of your gripes!!!

  • @BackyardBows

    @BackyardBows

    8 ай бұрын

    I’m not sure what your experience was, but mine is still firing 1500-2000 shots later, no separation, no rub of any kind, get a shop that will tune your bow properly, if you were getting strings damaged after 100 shots your cams had some major lean to them

  • @positivenotekeyboard

    @positivenotekeyboard

    8 ай бұрын

    Thanks for your prompt reply. I like your channel, but honesty comes first in my life. Congratulations! You are the exception, and not the rule! I know more about tuning a bow than most techs. And several others have come forth with the same gripe--all around the 100+ arrow mark. My first Bowtech was the 'Boss' back in 2017. I know all about their products, the advancements in their tuning system, and cam modes. The SS34 doesn't have the beefier cam you yourself boasted of, like the Vista 35's RT-X cam. That's one theory on why the cams eat up the strings. The more vertical riser makes for an easier pull (like Mathews overpriced bows), but the geometry coupled with a sharp, thin cam eats into the edge of the strings. Cameron, I shouldn't have to replace the strings on a brand new bow after 100 shots!!! That makes no sense. Bowtech's customer service department is not responding to my emails because they want to keep quiet about this flaw--as do dealers--for obvious reasons. But they should set up a recall with customers who discover this. Buying GAS strings or other premium brands only "buys" one time. Eventually, they too will create separation issues. Every year, bow manufacturers want to create a "grand slam" bow. This came close, but R&D dropped the ball. If they'd shot just a few of them at random, for say 500 shots or so, they'd have known more work was necessary.

    @positivenotekeyboard again I hate that was your experience with any company and I agree with honestly and try to give it how i experience it, I can say I called Bowtech several times and can get ahold of someone from there pro shop without a problem, I agree if there is a flaw a company should get out ahead of it, no excuses on why a bow should be restrung after a 100 shots, also I’ll add I’m not getting paid for reviews and still purchasing many bows including Bowtech, if there was a problem with mine I wouldn’t have a problem saying it

    @@BackyardBows Thanks for your assistance, and ethical concern. The other bow shops I've contacted either play stupid and refute their responsibility in reporting the truth, or try to brush me off with a passive "thanks" text. Either way, this is the story of the 'Emperor's New Clothes'. I bought into the hype shortly after it was introduced. I owned a 2022 Bowtech Revolt XL, and sold it to help fund this POS! Like many, my incentive was the smoother draw. The Revolt wasn't bad, but as an older shooter, I sought ease of pull without reducing poundage. So, yeah--I'm both disappointed and pissed, and I and many other SS34 purchasers have a reason to be!

Intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast) and low carbs speeds up initial weight loss.
