Backpacking the Wind River Range | Titcomb Basin | Seneca Lake | Island Lake
In this video I set out on a 3 night/4 day trip with Bryan Delay in Wyoming's Wind River Range. It winds up being a 4 night/5 day trip. Watch to find out why we extend our trip. I am blown away by the majesty and beauty of this area. It is an absolutely stunning backpack!

Sounds like your courage has paid off!💪 Thanks for taking us with you on your beautiful adventures!✨🌲✨
Hiked this trail in ‘77. Incredible views, altitude headache first day, and the largest mosquitos I’ve ever seen during the early miles.
Wow!!! This hike was so beautiful. It was like walking into a picture. That's it I am moving out west LOL!!!!
I am so glad you got to meet up with your friend. It was a beautiful journey.
Catherine. I'm an adventure nut as well. Your videos are very inspiring as many others out there. I wish one day I can quit the job and just live as free as you. That's how free I feel when I ride my motorcycle and soar with the eagles. Live that dream cat and continue to be free. God bless.
Been to the Winds only once and we did this exact same trail. I remember it like it was yesterday though it was going on 30 years ago now. Incredible!
in a comment you mentioned an extremely important point that literally could change the overall backpacking experience by raising the "pleasure/enjoyment meter" several levels on any trip . . . in planning a trip and if you have the time, why not "take the time to smell the roses" . . . why do a 36 mile hike in 4 days @ 9 mile per day when the same trip could be done over 6 days @ 6 miles per day . . . RESULT: more time for quality photography (the point you made), more time to stop and take in the majesty of the surroundings, more time for camp set-up and campfire camaraderie, more rest, more time for morning coffee and not having to constantly push ahead where the focus of the day becomes reaching the campsite destination in time:)
Having hiked most of the John Muir Trail and Whitney I really thought nothing would ever stand up to the beauty of the JMT but this is close if not more so in several areas. Catherine your photography is outstanding on this one. When you said how much you were moved by your surrounding I totally understand, there is something magical that happens when you are up in the high country.
I’m so glad I discovered your channel! I’m enjoying catching up on your back catalogue. What a gorgeous hike - lovely photos - fun to watch you and your friends living it up. I’m glad you have added more music to your latest videos - I think it adds a lot.

It reminds me of The Sequoia & Kings Canyon high country. So awesome!
Astounding! How wonderful that you got to share the experience with two other luminaries in your world. As always, I am grateful to receive the view of life from your perspective.
Serenity! Amazing how it must have felt to not see cars and motor boats and trash all over. These areas need to be preserved forever. Truly heaven on Earth! Thank you so much! 😉
So nice too see you again Katherine 🤗🤗🤗
Beautiful stuff! For all the people that allegedly head up into that area, I'm impressed you all were able to get the campsites you did and still find what appeared to be an abundant supply of wood for burning. It seems like the more popular areas typically have all their deadfall pretty much picked clean making it hard to have a fire, when they are even still allowed in such areas.

Thank you for watching! We got very lucky with the campsites and there wasn’t a wood at Island Lake. We had to do some searching for sure.
If God made anything more beautiful, He kept it for himself, lol. Glad He let you share it with us. Many thanks, Catherine and company.
Just when I think your videos couldn't get better....WOW!
Very wild and spectacular! Thank you for sharing!
_When you feel emotional, it means, you're connected with Mother Earth and all of her beauty. She understands that no words are needed, it's you being one with your surroundings... and nature doesn't lie, and Mother Earth feels your emotions while being one with you. I love that feeling I get from her, and it does warm this warrior's heart too! My opinion this is how it is supposed to be for all humans._

Absolutely some of the most stunning mountain scenery I've seen, wow, thanks for sharing...will definitely be on my bucket list
The scenery again was off the charts. Thank you for sharing another one of your wonderful adventures. I enjoy them all.
Excellent! So many people see these views on calendars and screen shots. Thinking they would want to go there, not realizing that they can't be seen from their car window. You have to put forth the effort and do the work. Get inspired , folks get off the couch, before you are to grounded in your ways and get moving !
Another Amazing video, glad that you continue to enjoy. The Smile you have tells the story. Hope you continue to enjoy.
I did this same route in 2017! Your hiking partner was a huge help and influence via his videos! So pretty, I actually had to fight tears at times. Special range for sure!
Thanks you Catherine for the scenic tour … Amazing!

The view at Island Lake was absolutely amazing! I hope I get to visit, but either way thank you for sharing.
I had three trips in the Sierras set up for this summer but the moquitos kept me away from all three trips. They are about as bad or worse this year than they have ever been in my memory. You now you are starting to acquire a more out-doorsie look to yourself. I like it!

Ah man! That's too bad. They have caused me to bail quickly in the Sierra on previous trips. My look is called no shower in 5 days. lol hahaaa :)
Catherine, your video got more than a few "wow!"s out of me. Thank you. Smiling, George.
My favorite place. Simply stunning. I was getting teary eyed watching this. I’ve been there five times and definitely need to go back (last time was about 10 years ago☹️. My strategy is to go after Labor Day. You don’t get the flowers, but most of the people are gone and, more importantly, I’ve never seen a mosquito. Went one time in late November. The only person i saw all week was a dayhiker in the parking lot when I got back to the car. Ok, maybe I don’t need quite that much solitude, but it was interesting.

I would HIGHLY recommend hiking up through Titcomb Basin (with a side trip to Indian Basin - feels a little like being on the moon, but with lakes everywhere) then over Knapsack Col (sorry, no trail), down to Peak Lake then pick up the Highline Trail back toward Island Lake. Fabulous loop!
Thanks for sharing this amazing adventure.
I'm in awe of our beautiful country. Thanks again for sharing so many amazing places that many of us have never been to. I'm so glad you had great company to share this experience. Absolutely breathtaking!🐿🌲🌻🌼
What spectacular views. You did a great job conveying it to us. I would have stayed on another night, too.
Absolutely incredible!! and what a small world. Haven't done more than a few 1 nighters yet, just out and back, but this vid is so inspiring and so beautiful. You really raised the bar. Thanks for sharing. Breathtaking!
Awesome. So many flowers. Very beautiful scenery. I’m going to have to check this place out one day. 👍👍👍.
Wow! Awesome scenery. And your camera is impressive. Glad you got to share all that with friends.
Awesome video. Absolutely amazing to be that far out and run into Coach. As you said ... truly an epic trip. Always appreciate how grateful you are for the awesome sights you ate able to see. It is obvious from each video how much you enjoy hiking and packing ... well, except for the mice!! Can't wait for your next adventure!!

Happy 3 months anniversary Catherine!! Beautiful area....Lushness carving it's way through ruggedness....however....it is your unique "Cat way" of presenting it that holds my interest throughout....those beautiful flower shots especially the red ones vs the background......the wide angle views of what you consider awesome plus your narration also. I like the squirrels too......It feels like you showed me another planet. Lol. Thanks!!!

I normally watch your videos on my apple TV ... so never get to (or more honestly take the time) to comment. That changes today. I loved this video so much. I have watched all your videos - all. I have watched all of Bryan DeLay’s videos, all of Joey ‘s and most of Coach’s. So this was really fun to watch. Couple that with the beautiful scenery and WOW. Someday I hope to do what you’re doing and am trying to align things in my life in such a way to make that possible. I’m 57.. so time’s a ticking. The other thing I forgot about was that you had a Patreon account! I’m signing up now. My neice and I are going backpacking in Glacier in a couple of weeks.. thanks for the inspiration to keep pursuing beautiful places.
