BACKPACKING BLUE MOUNTAINS | 2 day Road Trip from Sydney

After the Welcome to Sydney tour, I joined the Blue Mountains road trip (welcometo.travel/tours/blue-m...) add-on for a few days and we went hiking in the gorgeous national park! We tried to see the Three Sisters but got a bit unlucky with the mist that day. The next day, we did the Grand Canyon Track and Cliff Top Track between Evans Lookout and Govetts Leap and even though the weather was rainy, this hike was STUNNING 😍 We stayed at the Blue Mountains YHA Hostel in Katoomba.

ABOUT ME🙋🏻‍♀️
I'm Christianne, a solo traveller, vlogger and entrepeneur from Surrey, UK. FAQ's
How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these KZread videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. I used to simply just work any temporary job I could find to save up to travel! I budget the money I earn meticulously to reach my savings goals using www.backpackingbananas.com/pr...
Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

    I love your channel Christianne! I am originally from Sydney (now living in Queensland) and this video made me miss the Blue mountains so much! I used to travel there on weekends all the time to get away from the rat race and hike, I also had my wedding in Blackheath on the same road as Govetts Leap Lookout. It’s really so beautiful and you showcased it perfectly in this video 🥰

    I did the wrking holiday visa and loved wrking at an exotic fruit farm in cairns. Driving around 4x4 and picking mangosteens in a beautiful place. I hafd tried a banana farm first and quickly learned it was not my thing lol. I camped in the blue mountains but when we got there by train, it was so dark, so we camped in a field first. In the morning the farmer came (we had no idea a house was near bc it was so dark lol). He gave us coffee and drove us up to blue mountains, so friendly 😎

    Love watching your adventures, even learning about my country. Please tell friends and acquaintances who are traveling Australia to head south of Sydney too … it is just so beautiful down the Sapphire Coast. Wollongong, Kiandra, Ulladulla, Bateman’s Bay, Pebble Beach to see the kangaroos … and lots more places all through that area down to Eden! Some spectacular countryside.

    Honestly so wonderful and bizarre watching your vlogs of koh tao, sydney and now katoomba! I'm getting major nostalgia and deju vu! I also stayed at the same YHA, even the exact spot where you're cooking in the YHA kitchen at 7:30 I have a distinct memory of (strange I know!). It was also raining one of the days whilst in Katoomba, we ended up having a movie day in the projector room watching the breakfast club and having hot chocos. I loved the Canyon walk, ended up coming to Katoomba again a year later to do it again! This takes living vicariously through your vlogs to a whole another level 😂 really love all the content you've been producing, long term watcher here and planning a trip to thailand in the next few months so thank you so much for all the recommendations, your videos are gold!

    I'm so glad the mist cleared up for you! My family has been heading up to the blue mountains for 3-4 generations (about 70 years) to do hikes/walks and get out of Sydney. There are some of the most enjoyable and stunning walks I have ever done there, and I've hiked all through North America, Europe and have done Kilimanjaro. Also, funny enough, the bridge you went over at the beginning of the video is right near my apartment, I can see it from my front door 😆

I also did return in 2013/14 to visit Sydney/Manly/Brisbane as my sister lives there now! - amazing country, love the animals, looking forward to seeing more of your trip, maybe you could travel to Rottnest while in Perth and up the coast to Monkey Mia as I always wanted to see the dolphins but didn't have time! - take care 😉

    The Grand Canyon in the US is massive and spectacular but completely different . You can’t compare the two .The Blue Mountains Grand Canyon is very pretty . The US Grand Canyon is all rock formations in a desert . Two different beauties . Tourists need to appreciate what is in front of them.

    Is it hard for you to enjoy places like Australia after being in Mexico + Thailand where it’s so affordable? I mean the similarities/conveniences to home and your native language make it less mentally draining, but less freedom financially. If you weren’t staying with family, would you spend less time there? Thks for all you share 🙏

  • @BackpackingBananas

    @BackpackingBananas

    That’s a very good question! It doesn’t make it less enjoyable as such, but I somewhat mentally prepare beforehand how much I am willing to spend and what that is going to get me so my expectations are managed. If my family weren’t here then yes, I probably would spend less time here 😅
