Backlighting of Plastic Bags and Tissue Paper to create ICM Photographs

Please visit ddayicmart.com and consider subscribing for future updates to my ICM photography.
This video covers the basic studio techniques I use to create ICM images with creative backlighting of colored plastic bags and tissue paper.
There are a few things I wanted to put in the video, but failed to mention:
1. Camera Lens - a wide angle lens works best for this work stopped down to about F16 as this helps to keep the entire scene in focus with less reliance on post-processing sharpening. I use a Laowa 10mm Cookie lens at F16 with a 1-3 second exposure.
2. When shooting a scene, focus on areas where tissues and plastic bags come together and shoot at multiple angles with multiple motion speeds. Try changing directions - mid-shot with a jerky movement. That can produce interesting results.
3. Fairy Lights - are cheap and work well for highlighting specific areas of scenes that need more lighting. Try placing them in things like plastic cups and other containers and insert them into your tissue/bag scenes. The results are interesting.
4. Tissue tends to be opaque and plastic bags translucent. Use a combination of both to give the image more 'feel'.

Hi, David. This way of ICM photography I have never seen. I like it a lot and go try it out. For me, you are a pro-ICM photographer with what you create. Thank you very much for this video. Greetings from the Netherlands, Antoine.

Terrific - please share them on Facebook. It makes my day when something I do can have a chain reaction resulting in someone else doing something beautiful.

wow! Thanks Trish.... one thing I have learned, that I failed to put into the video.... Intensity of lighting is important. I have a dimmer switch on my lights, and going up or down one step in the lighting can make all the difference.
