Watching you set up the big movie screen that was green, just made me smile. I took an audio/visual class in my 9th grade in the early 80s. We learned how to operate 16 and 35mm projectors and I had to set up those movie screens probably a hundred times. Oh memories.

I love how genuine and almost insecure you can sound when you're just opening up and bring honest, like when you explained why cloth backdrops are your favorite type of studio background. My favorite creators are all people who you can tell are just being honest and sincere and not trying to put on any kind of act. Also, thanks for the tip about using an orange halo to create a cleaner cut with green screens; that will come in handy.

I love Markus. His attitude is always like "oh man, why do you make me do this" at the beginning of every video and by the end, he's like a kid on Christmas. He seems to legitimately enjoy what he does and just doing creative stuff but most of all sharing knowledge. I really appreciate what you do and the way you do it. Thank you for the fun and educational videos.

I always love learning different techniques from you.

Not only re they informative and helpful for all levels with no gatekeeping, it's also great in spirit and openness too- You're just enthusiastic and excited to show and tell what you know. This is like the good old days of youtube (with better quality) before people just cared about making money through it. You're not trying to sell us stuff or make a vid on trivial subject so you can get 500k views and get your ad revenue for the day. These are just genuinely good videos.

This was so interesting, especially about projection. Thanks, Markus and Cara! I always find green screen super challenging and frustrating to edit so your point about that is spot on! Such a great point about using blue instead of green. Being colorblind I neverthought of that!! Wow! How do you attach a backdrop to light stands? A backdrop sounds like it would be perfect for the kind of videos I shoot.

Primatte studio is what I use too for my green screen edits, but I suck at using it..... At least 80% of my battles were eliminating shadows. Pretty much solved that problem now so I just need to get better at using the program. I too would prefer to just have a backdrop sometimes, but I love the ability to insert digitally any backdrop I can imagine. That is such a neat thing! Cheers 🍻

Fascinating video Markus! I worked in my 20's as a set dresser in TV. I used to say 'you know the background is the most important thing'. The sound and camera guys thought I was nuts. I used to watch Hitchcock movies for inspiration on days off. In the 30's 40's and 50's they used to place a sheet of glass in front of the lens with a painted background on it. It's all about context I reckon. :)

I've done several of these myself Markus, great video explaining all of this. It's so refreshing to see content that doesn't focus on electronics or the latest camera because as we all know, lighting and production design matter 100X more than whichever camera or lens you are using to shoot your project with. I like combining the painted canvas backdrops with real props in the foreground and mid-ground. Your Dr. Evil chair and some of your real sets look amazing, nice work.
