@thegoonist Hehe ;) The thing is, that playing the 41 that way to facilitate moves with doubles on future turns is a little flawed. Firstly, chances of rolling doubles are only 6 in 36 for any given turn, so you'd be basing a strategy on a minority of dice roll outcomes, and secondly, you can still make 2 points from subsequent doubles, as leaving the 8 point stripped is not a major concern in the opening.

Thank you for the 5 clips-series of opening moves. You mentioned that you'd play many games online. What platforms do you recommend?

Sometimes it can't b helped, but I don't like splitting my two back men too early. I don't mind the 65 to the 13 point though. My occasional(like once a month) move of death of 64 is 13/9 13/7.I have seen players move 24/16 on the 53 opener also.

i have to admit im one of those amateurs that use that 4-1 move you detest so much =P however my reason would be that in the case i roll a double in subsequent moves there would be a good chance that i would be able to create 2 primes instead of one.

Thank You for posting! Just wondering why the doubles are not covered here? The double one in an opening roll is very powerful (if you go first or your opponent haven't split the the checkers on its 1-point). Then you got yourself a three point prime. Also interesting- the double four opening. Should you make your golden point or your opponents? Perhaps you can add one episode to this series with the opening doubles? Just a friendly thought 🤗

MIkael dear.. impossible to move first with a double... not allowed. Now, having a double in your first move AFTER your opponent has played their first, that´s another different tutorial....

The 4/1 move is not only safe but sets you up for your next two rolls of 3/1,4/2,5/3,or 6/4. It also sets up a 6/1 for a defensive position and I do the 4/1 or 3/2 on the first roll everytime.
