January 4, 2024 I went to Daisetsuzan Mt. Asahidake!
Our first climb of the year was to the highest peak in Hokkaido.
I have climbed many times in winter, but this is the first time it has been so sunny (*^^*)
It was perfect for Ohachidaira, Omote Daisetsu, Ishikari Ridge, and the Tokachi Mountain Range ✨
Take the Asahidake Ropeway to Sugatami Station at an altitude of 1600m.
I aimed for the peak on the Natsumichi Ridge route while using the predecessor trace.
At around 1800m above sea level, it became a mixture of frozen layers and rocks, so I changed from seal skis to crampons and climbed up.
There was some local wind, but the wind subsided from around 2000m above sea level, making it a relatively comfortable climb (*^^*)
The ski resort from Sugatami Station is also a long course with a total length of 4km!
It was a nice course through a coniferous forest.
