Backcountry BSing #98 - Dr. Jeff Meldrum, PhD (Professor and Bigfoot Scientist) - Round Two!

Dr. Jeff Meldrum is a Full Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology at Idaho State University (since 1993). He teaches human anatomy in the graduate health professions programs. His research encompasses questions of vertebrate evolutionary morphology generally, primate locomotor adaptations more particularly, and especially the emergence of modern human bipedalism. His co-edited volume, From Biped to Strider: the Emergence of Modern Human Walking, Running, and Resource Transport, proposes a more recent innovation of modern striding gait than previously assumed. His interest in the footprints attributed to sasquatch, was piqued when he examined a set of 15-inch tracks in Washington, in 1996. Now his lab houses well over 300 footprint casts attributed to this mystery primate.

My only problem with Paulides is that believes Melba ketchups research to be factual (which it isn’t) and that Scott Carpenters video evidence to be legit (which it isn’t) .. I do like his missing 411 stuff as it’s very interesting i just think he is told something from somebody and believes it without critical analysis.

Paulides was responsible for submitting Bigfoot DNA hair samples to Dr Melba Ketchum. The hair could not be identified and was unlike human hair, but all sample had same physical appearance. Yet, the mitochondrial DNA was classified as human. Does not necessarily have to be Sapiens, just human....Homo. Since Bigfoot is bipedal, has vocalizations/language and have human like features it would make sense Bigfoot would have human mitochondrial DNA. I love Dr Meldrum & he is my point of reference for anytime others r trying to make fun of me etc. Im so glad smart people like him r trying to prove Sasquatch is real. I just started listening to podcasts & Im addicted to anything Big Foot. I've been sharing ur specific talks with th Dr. to my friends that are believers. This is th 1st time ever I have been compelled to comment on any site ever. But ur conversation about th Native American culture warning their children to not whistle at night maybe just being a "be good or else" story... I need to comment. I live in Northern California 35 miles NW if Reno NV in th Plumas National Forest. Over th past 10 yrs I have had multiple Big Foot encounters during wood cutting several miles from home. It's amazing th things I have experienced with them. But over th past 2 summers this area has had 2 very bad forest fires that basically burned r entire forest to death. I live in th Sierra Valley which has become a sorta of oasis for the Sasquatch community. I come home late in th evening from work & there are many very tall cottonwood trees around th boundary of th property I live in. I began experiencing whistling coming from up in th trees. There r many birds that live in th trees but it is like a human whistle. I get sticks thrown on my car. I get scared & lock myself in, instead of going in th house. But they whistle at me all th time I finally got a picture of a very big one standing in th crotch of th tree where I park. They r here in th town cuz they have been burned out from th forest. I live near many different kinds of mines. I think they r having fun teasing people, maybe their bored. I was affected by th infra sound u talk about not long ago when I was alone outside hearing a baby crying. It effected me for several days. Th whistling is no joke!! I haver very long hair that I think fascinates them & twin 4 tr old boys live next door. I'm sorry they lost their home. Can't wait for them to go back to Frenchman's Lake. I'd love to show u some of th kinds of activity we have here. But believe me don't whistle in th forest. So much more to say. Love ur energy & work. I can't hear enough of what u say about th hairy man. Keep going. Good luck & best wishes, a big fan. Sandra Anderson Vinton CA

There is an animal in the fossil record that fits the witness descriptions of this creature. Gigantopithecus Blackie. We’ve found its mandibles and molars both in the wild and at an apothecary shop in China. It lived just a little more than 10,000 years ago. It’s not a far stretch worth all the relic hominids we’ve found to think there wouldn’t be an evolutionary descendant. We also found the first primate fossil in North America this year so now we know that one has once survived here. I think it’s going to unfortunately take a body to confirm this but there is enough circumstantial evidence to move this beyond the skepticism it receives. David Attenborough, and Jane Goodall, both believe this creature exists and we should be looking into this a lot more than we are. From my own experiences for over a decade in the same place, I would have to agree. This needs a deeper look.

@@ChristianPaulPhotography A fact that seems unbelievable is that we had never found any chimpanzee fossils at all until @2005. I have read that if the chimps had gone extinct prior to being found by Western peoples in 1775 , we would have never known or believed they exist. On the topic of Sasquatch,I was a skeptic most of my life and also leaned toward the cynical side of skepticism. During Covid with too much time on my hands I researched and the evidence, when scrutinized is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. The body of evidence is astounding. Some of this proof is so good, that it couldn't be anything else, in my opinion. There is much that comes with that, such as what is it? And the idea that this creature is real and may be another race of human is truly compelling. Some longheld theories may need rethinking such as creationism. A whole range of issues arises once it comes into the proven realm. What do we do about logging? Mining? Do we make forests off limits? Stop logging immediately? Too many things to think about in my opinion. They are real, they are out there, the proof has already been discovered. When irrefutable proof eventually comes out we will say, How the hell did we not see this before? All in my opinion, obviously

Paleontologists believe that only 10% of extinct creatures have been identified through fossils as of yet. Fossilization is a really fortuitous event and fossils from creatures who inhabit jungles or temperate rainforests like Sasquatch are less likely to be preserved. As someone else pointed out, we have limited fossil remains of two species of Gigantopithecus from China and Southeast Asia. Sasquatch could be descendants of populations related to those primates. I think Meldrum is right. A relict hominid that is extremely rare as an apex predator-omnivore with a keen intellect. Paulides and Wes of Sasquatch Chronicles have pointed out some strange connections with orbs and possible extra terrestrials. There may be some connections between the two. Very strange.

@@thomaszaccone3960 I don't take too much stock into Paulides. You can buy me a beer and I'll tell you why. Not familiar with that podcast. I'll check it out. 4.5 billion years is a very long time. Life exponentially grows, so I think the "family tree" of primates is incomplete at best. I used the Gigantopithecus example for all those folks who argue primates don't reach the proportions that are reported in Sasquatch sightings. We have the teeth and mandibles. That's substantial and cannot be argued away. Dr. Krantz was light years ahead of things. The track evidence goes either one of two ways: 1. This is the most complex, expensive, and planned hoax kept secret in human history. Meaning all of these tracks seen over an entire continent, even in the most remote areas uninhabited by man and very hard to reach even with today's modes of transportation are faked Or..... 2. Something out there unknown to science is making these tracks Now what you have to ask yourself is which one of these two choices is the long way around the answer? Let that cook your noodle for a bit.

@@thomaszaccone3960 Hey I feel meldrom is basically going the ape theory to make it much more palatable to others like him. Every first nation's tribe I have ever heard of say they are a people with language and family units. Lots of cultures around the world say they are a people and not an ape. European history talks about the green man of the woods and other humanoids that are also not considered apes. As far as fossils yes they seldom form except in situations where floods rapidly cover the body. They do not form over thousands of years. So yes its much more difficult to find those type fossils but even in America there have been a few monkey type fossils found if I recall correctly. From what I have learned sasquatch is flesh and blood it eats breaths breeds raises children and dies. To say there is a ufo connection is no different then humans being abducted. They themselves seem to live with little un the way of technology so it's highly unlikely they have any. Three is just way to much against what Meldrum is pushing. Just way to little proof. We have never found a fossil of a giant ape outside of that area in Asia. NONE and no teeth have ever been found in the America's and there is not one first nation's story that taks about a giganto so there again is no real facts behind his theory. Best of luck to you and thank you for the reply I appreciate the chance to discuss these opinions. I do really appreciate it.

@johnsullivan6532 Indian and Tibetan yogis have indeed been studied for their remarkable abilities, including: 1. Control over the physical body: Demonstrating extraordinary flexibility, strength, and endurance. 2. Going long periods without food or water: Exhibiting remarkable fasting abilities, sometimes for weeks or even months. 3. Controlling body temperature: Using techniques like Tummo meditation to generate inner heat, allowing them to survive in extreme cold temperatures. (In 1981, a cardiologist called Herbert Benson observed Tibetan monks practicing tummo in the Himalayan mountains. The monks were able to raise the temperature of their fingers and toes by up to 8.3ºC). 4. Mindfulness and meditation: Showing exceptional focus, calmness, and mental clarity. 5. Extrasensory perception: Displaying abilities like telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition. Some Indian and Tibetan yogis have demonstrated remarkable ESP abilities, including: 1. Telepathy: Reading thoughts or communicating mentally with others. 2. Clairvoyance: Perceiving information about a person, place, or object without using the five traditional senses. 3. Precognition: Predicting future events or sensing upcoming dangers. 4. Retrocognition: Accessing information about past events or people. 5. Psychokinesis: Influencing physical objects or events through mental energy. Some institutions that have investigated the ESP abilities of Indian and Tibetan yogis, include: - Research by the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) on the ESP abilities of Tibetan monks. - Studies by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) on the telepathic abilities of Indian yogis. - Investigations by the University of Edinburgh on the precognitive abilities of Tibetan Buddhists. Studies suggest that certain individuals may possess exceptional ESP abilities. These abilities have been documented in various scientific journals. Here are some examples of ESP studies that have passed peer review: 1. The Ganzfeld experiments conducted by Charles Honorton and his colleagues in the 1970s, which reported statistically significant results suggesting the existence of telepathy. 2. The remote viewing experiments conducted by Russell Targ and Harold Puthoff at Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in the 1970s and 1980s, which claimed to demonstrate the ability to perceive and describe distant locations and objects. 3. The work of Roger Nelson and his colleagues at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) Laboratory, which reported anomalies in random number generators that suggested the presence of a consciousness-related effect. 4. The studies on precognition and presentiment conducted by psychologist Julia Mossbridge, which have reported statistically significant results suggesting the existence of anomalous cognition. 5. The work of Dean Radin, a researcher at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), who has published numerous studies on various aspects of ESP, including telepathy, clairvoyance, and psychokinesis. These studies have passed peer review and are sparking interest in the potential of human consciousness and the effects of intense spiritual practice.

Meldrum is certainly the most believable at this point. But, I gotta say, that I wonder if the Andy Warhol "15min of fame" thing is affecting him...such gets to a lot of people and it warps reality in the mind sometimes.

Dogman is interesting but it seems to be a lot harder to even determine what it could be. With “Bigfoot”, there is strong evidence that it’s a primate of some sort. Dogman? Who knows what people are seeing when they see this thing..

@@bms77 yeah meldum is the leading authority on bigfoot no doubt" but this dogman hmmm" funny how everybody has a phone with a camera but no real conclusive evidence of this creature other than the Halloween decoration I see, lol as I've been a advid hunter for over 30 years , in Florida the Carolinas in Tennessee Michigan Ohio and Kansas , a well rounded tracker, and with a multitude of ways of hunting pretty well acclimated to all the sounds in the woods but there have been many times some of the sounds that were heard could not be explained and many a times had an uneasy unnerving feeling and a paranoia of the wilderness especially when you see more urban wildlife in your own backyard than you do many many miles into the woods and many miles from civilization

Turning off comments on one's videos is a big red flag but thought I'd give Rictor a chance by watching his Paulides and Isdahl videos. Aside from his fantasies about having gay sex and sucking off David, Rictor is all lead up and no substance, shaping half truths and opinion into "his truth" resulting in zero credibility.

All the great apes known to exist, are just apes running around the wild. A giant ape was known to have existed, in China, by the fossil record, 4 jaw bones and thousands of teeth, thought to be extinct. It is not extinct, but is running around the wilderness in China and in North America, maybe even more widespread areas too. You need to get more educated as to how this could happen, a living giant ape still living in remote wilderness areas. You sound like a city kid, so know next to nothing regarding the reality of this concept, yet speak as though you know what you speak about.
