I loved the video, thanks so much for all the hard work producing it. I felt as if I were there on the camping trip with you all. I highly doubt that stream is fished out, just because a few hours spent fishing ends with zero fish caught doesn't mean the stream is fished out. More often than not, the trout are in super shallow water 3 or 4 inches deep and are virtually invisible to the eye, and not in the deep pools. Fly rod would be my last choice, I would have a small light rod & reel with 4 pound test line, small hook, and small live worms, letting the bait float down the shallows along the banks where there's weeds outcroppings. Many people mistakenly assume trout are in the deep pools and are visible, they're almost impossible to see unless they are on the move to another spot. Also, these brook trout move up into even smaller brooks that feed the stream you were fishing, tiny little brooks that people would never think they could catch a 7 inch fish from. As for catch and release, I never understood the point of that, to torture an animal and sometimes cause death or permanent damage then throw him back, makes no sense. Catch and eat is the only thing that makes sense to me

The double ended bag is a great idea. Much better than struggling with the snakeskin cover. Thanks guys!

A simple backpacking trail in Southwestern Ohio is at East Fork State Park. You can camp anywhere, but you can only build fires at their 5 designated areas.

No bear can, and brought bear spray... Did you even obtain a permit? The Rangers go over both of these facts EVERYTIME I've ever obtained a Yosemite permit.

Why does " patty" have white feet? Go wall around in the bush for 1 day with your bare feet and see how white they are!!! This creature lives there and has white soles of her feet apparently.

I'm old school. When I was camping in the early 70s, we survived on nothing but normal stuff we found at the grocer. Cheese, crackers, oatmeal, Tang, hot chocolate, salami, potatoes, powdered milk, bread, honey, powdered eggs and pork n beans. I think the one food I wish was still made was Durkees made powdered eggs that were so so good. When rehydrated they were just like regular scrambled eggs. I can remember camping in California when almost every breakfast was oatmeal or those eggs which were epic when we added a dehydrated bacon to them.

Just watched this video after a mention of "widowmakers" while hiking. Never heard that term applied to this situation, and I'm 65 years old! I don't hike or camp, but this is valuable info. ONE simple suggestion, though, if you ever update this video or its description: What you're calling a "branch" is more likely a tree LIMB. When most people hear the word "branch" they think of the size that falls on your lawn that the kids play with. Please say "trees and tree limbs", and also it would be helpful to give some typical circumference measurements and weights! ❤ Another great addition here would be a video with sound that demonstrates how heavy and dangerous and loud they really can be. Most people don't have a clue!

Bear Spray vs Firearm effectiveness: its not as clear cut as many believe. 1. Studies that are unbiased are to find. 2. Often the bears are not seperated by type. Black, Brown and Polar are very different in approach, size and behavior. 3. The firearms are not seperated by type and or caliber. 9mm vs 44mag vs 4570 will have vastly different degrees of effectiveness.

Old video, so you'll probably never see this. I have an old Blackbird (pre xlc). I still love it. Weight isn't an issue for me because i only car, canoe or kayak camp. But I've never had a better nights sleep than in my hammock. It's nice to see that other companies are making proper camping hammocks. Most people i know buy an Eno or something similar and never know what a truly good camping hammock feels like. Great info, fellas.

This is such an important point. Occasional hikers and campers are ignorant of this danger. I personally know families whose lives have been decimated from this. They have never been the same.

I dont know if anyone else likes this. but I absolutley love GV frosted wheats that I dip in Jiff Penut butter. I get a 24 oz box of frosted wheats and a 40 oz jar of Jiff for under $10.00, and its like 8800 calories. Always feels like Im eating something substantial with a satisfying crunch, lots of fiber, filling penut butter, and sweet frosting. I live this much better than any bars. I also bring nutella for a change up, or a combo...lol.

The fish mercury problem is a myth. The chemical that purges mercury from the body is found in the most concentration in fish. There is more than there is mercury.

Even though we play this ultimately self destructive game of suicide monopoly, Time is our real Currency, Health is our real Wealth..Every human civilization to EVER exist, has been a losing race, to discover remedies, for the predicaments that they produce..We're fixing to lose that race again over the next few decades, there is no discovering remedies for nuclear war, mass extinction and an environment changing thousands of times faster than it's inhabitants can adapt.
