I was born and raised in Carlsbad, NM; went to the caverns OFTEN when family and friends visited. One thing I didn't know until about 4 years back is that when you pay for your pass to get into the caverns it's good for TWO days, not just one. So if you don't have enough time to do the tour of all of the areas (which I usually do not because I'm always taking photos on a monopod, with no flash for purposes of photo quality) you can return the next day to finish up. I'm talking about the Carlsbad Caverns, not "New Cave" or any of the others. I'm not really familiar with those as they became a thing after I'd moved off to Dallas, TX. (ugh, big mistake LOL). Thanks for taking us on your journey. Oh! I also meant to say that I think it's an AWESOME idea to package water in boxes like milk. I'm CERTAIN it's healthier in most cases. I went through chemo for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma back in 2006 and learned a lot about the dangers we're presented with daily that increase the risks of cancer, such as plastic throwaway water bottles that aren't packaged in the heavier BPA free plastic. You can count on the majority of ALL packaged water being transported in non-cooled tractor trailers and as well, many of those bottles of water are often stored OUTSIDE of the storefronts they're being sold at (like gas stations for instance). When those bottles get hot cancer causing carcinogens are released INTO the very water you're drinking. I'm guessing that not only is the boxed water in a package that is much more environmentally friendly and easier to manufacture, but that it's ALSO MUCH safer regarding cancer risks. (That's a guess on my part but yeah, I think it's a safe guess.) Because it's square it's also MUCH MORE EFFICIENT to store (no wasted corners). So I'm all for the boxed water and hope it catches on in more places. I realize our cup holders are built for it in the vehicles but hey, that's what Yeti containers are for. hahaha. (LOVE my Yeti) Okay, thanks again for taking us on your journey. Safe travels, y'all!

Did you get to visit Mammoth Cave? I saw where you went to the other one. If you never been to Mammoth Cave...go visit when you can it is worth the wait. Ky has the biggest cave system in the world. There are paths in Mammoth that can take you all the way to Chicago...that is how big Mammoth is and there are new discoveries periodically in Mammoth. I love it...plus I am from KY...I enjoy that nice cool walk inside. there is a river under ground too...you can take a boat ride in the cave..hopefully it's still available...just go when you can...

hello, travelers! enjoyed your cave tour! we both have been there. I was stationed at Ft. Knox, twice, not far North from Bowling Green. While you are in Kentucky, we highly suggest that you drive a little more south and visit the ARK!! its an experience, you both would cherish for a very long time! And while I am writing you, want to highly recommend that you go to Parkway RV Center on KZread, watch some of Bo's videos on quality used Rv, that they sell, in Ringgold, GA.. Family owned Business, for 50+ years! If you are still looking, check it out!! keep sharing your journeys, we cant wait until we start ours, next year!!

Look into the Newmar Canyon Star toy hauler... I think the model is 3927. That thing is sweet and you get Newmar quality, especially with y’all on the road for long periods. (Just ask the RV geeks)

Nice state, My neighbors across the street from me sold their house and moved to Kentucky. They loaded up a U-haul box van and trailer and headed there on Tuesday, they should be there by now, didn't realize how nice and green it is there, much different than Southern Calif.

I love to drive through Tennessee. If you want efficient travel, there are the Interstates. If you want to go winding through the hills, there are lots of opportunities in Tennessee. If you like small towns with lots of local flavor, Tennessee has lots of that. If you like bustling cities, there are Memphis, Knoxville, Nashville, and Chattanooga. Mostly, I enjoy just joy driving through the hills on and on, and then let the GPS find my way back out of them. That is a lot of fun!!

sorry We try and answer questions but don't always have the time to answer every single one and we get this one a lot and usually don't answer it because know one believes it anyway LOL but we average around 11mpg but thats after upgrading plugs, wires, and distributor, a K & N filter and Doug Thorley Tri-Y Performance Headers. All of it has almost paid for itself in fuel savings and we had no problems pulling our 4200 pound trailer up mountains at 50+ mph 👍
