Back To The Territories #09 | "The Masked Superstar" Bill Eadie | Georgia
Ойын-сауық
Today much is made about wrestling wars, but how much do wrestling fans know about the “war for Atlanta?” It was very real and saw the biggest stars in wrestling being utilized by the NWA to protect what was seen as an assault on one of its major territories. Standing opposite the Alliance and Jim Barnett was Ann Gunkel, widow of promoter and wrestling star Ray Gunkel.
Join host Jim Cornette and Bill Eadie, The Masked Superstar, one of the Georgia territory’s huge stars and bookers, for a trip down Atlanta way. Go inside the Georgia wrestling operation before TBS, Black Saturday, and the Crocketts. Hear the stories surrounding the area’s colorful stars like Tommy Rich, T Bolt Patterson, Freebirds, Mr. Wrestling I and II, Ole Anderson, and so many more. Jump in, we’re heading to Hot-lanta!

Back to the territories with Cornette is the absolute greatest
Bill Eadie seems like that uncle you have that has cool stories and cool life lessons to give you
Georgia championship wresting fan since 1980. Those Augusta shows were awesome!

Superstar was my favorite wrestler back in the day.
Pretty sure I’ve heard/watched this one before, but like all of the Back to the Territories w/Corny, that’s never stopped me from enjoying it again 🤷🏻

The only one I usually don't go out of my way to rewatch is Mid South and Hacksaw. It's great but the only reason I feel burned out on it is that Hacksaw has his 8-9 go-to stories and he tells them on every shoot interview he does. Cornette was able to drag extra out of him, but some of those stories I have heard a million times and he has them dialed in ( like the Gorilla Suit for example + a few more ) I think Hacksaws best stories generally emanate from Mid South days
Swinging neckbreaker on the floor! Watched him do that to Eddie Gilbert when i was a kid.
Bill was awesome as The Masked Superstar! Had the size, could grapple and made it to the Big Leagues with WWF! SOLID CAREER!! Wrestled all the greats during his time in the game.. One of my favorite KC Vault 🎥! Thanks for the drop!

Eadie was supposed to Defeat Bob Backlund for the WWF champion but Bob balked because he was not a shooter . He was also supposed to be AWA World Champion but Verne wanted to screw job Martel and Eadie wouldn’t do it .He quit on the spot when Verne explained it to him

I have heard he was a possible NWA champion but Muchnick did not want a masked Champion
Love this one
This was a very good interview i love GCW and the Bill Eadie
Hearing of a wrestling war between two companies back in thoses days is interesting to listen to and the fact all this happen long before Vince did his thing in the 1980's cherry picking Talent... and the Additude era of WWF VS WCW.....wonderful stories from the Territories. I love Back to the Territories.
This answered a question. Columbus had their own Tv in addition to Atlanta. I’d watched it in Alabama and it was different from the GCW TV we all know.

Macon had their own tv also. Jim Carlisle called the action.
This is great! Thanks for making this happen!
He was the arch villain of Georgia . There were a few faces who were considered the face of Georgia wrestling , Like Gunkel , Rich , and Mr Wrestling 2 but really only the Superstar was synonymous with Georgia as a heel
These and the timelines were my favorite series
when they were talking about the Caddy and I immediately thought after Bill said they had got it to give to the winner of the battle royale "Son of a bitch, wouldn't ya know who won the pony!" XD
This ones good too, , i been ending my work week with kayfabe commentaries and starting it on mondays with kliq this for over a year now, thank u sean✌👽
PLEASE put the Savio Vega one on here!!!!!
I've been watching some GCW videos on KZread, and you talk about a who's who of wrestling; every bout had a wrestler that you could easily recognize. Shame that a majority of tapes were recycled otherwise, I'd be buying a bulk of them to watch.
Gordon Solie was the Walter Cronkite of Pro Wrestling. And don't you ever forget it.😊
This is kind of stuff Cornette needs to be doing instead of crying and whining about modern wrestling.

I prefer him shitting on modern wrestling. He doesn’t shit on everything, since WWE was hot with the Tribal Chief he hasn’t been shitting on WWE. He shits on AEW which judging by his shows almost having more viewers than AEW seems to be a well shared opinion

@@KHLB516 how many times can you listen to him say the exact same crap? Boring.
I wonder why you couldn't wear a Mask in MSG back in the territory days.?

@tomjones5650 it took years for Mil to be given an exception and finally booked and allowed to wear his mask though.
3 Best masked Wrestlers The Superstar The Spoiler and Wresting 2 bottom line
Guy was in Japan a lot
Seen this before but people always act like WWE was the only company to push others out. The NWA has screwed many people over or attempted 2
