I chased this rare, “Silverton Mixed” special train, (Freight and Passenger cars), from Durango to Shalona Crossing. Locomotive #473 powered this (Pre-National Narrow Gauge Convention) Special Excursion round trip from Durango to Silverton. Extra, RGS Goose #5 makes a cameo to pick up passenger at Rockwood and I later catch the Silverton Daily at Pinkerton Siding. The Silverton Mixed made several stops (photo runbys) between Rockwood and Silverton to allow riders to get off to photograph the train. The Engineer was Mike May, Fireman Jon Walden Cox and Conductor Nick Battelo.
