#Backtothefuture #Soundtracks
35 years after its premiere, the score from Back to the Future stands out as one of the most iconic soundtracks I’ve heard. To show my appreciation to one of my favorite films, in this video I’ll highlight the musical and storytelling techniques Alan Silvestri used to create a film score that would go down as a masterpiece of film music.

My god, this must be like the most interesting video Ive ever seen on KZread, as far as music analysis. You broke down every part of the score and showed examples of where theyre displayed and what they meant. You even explained how the scales relate to it. How on earth do you not have millions of subscribers? Well im subscribed now. This video is pure gold. What an analysis! Wow.

That’s incredibly nice of you to say. Glad you enjoyed it. For this video, some of the music analysis comes from Omni Music Publishing’s of the BTTF full score. My goal was to translate some of that analysis into an entertaining and easy to grasp visual medium. Thanks for watching!

@@jigowatts1304 Do you happen to make your own music? I've played for a buncha years, but am just now challenging myself again to learn piano, theory behind scoring films, and just more technical music in general. I'm bored of music that just stays in key. To me, its almost like music in ABCDEFG major or minor is boring now, and isnt even creative at all. Wanna break out of that prison of 8 options lol. But your video is amazing, also the visual for the explanation. I can tell it mustve taken a long time to put together. I'll have to watch it again. Wanna show my brother too.

And when I think about him, the first things that come to my mind are "Enter the Dragon", all of his tunes with a blaxploitation/70's/funk touch mixed with the orchestra and "the wave" (because of the many but smooth change of metrics).

Heard about this video from the podcast "Wizard and the Bruiser". Partway through watching I checked the channel info looking for more of the same, expecting a long list of previous film breakdowns and many thousands of subscribers - it came as a shock to find quite the opposite. What I'm saying is this is a thing of beauty. Not just your analysis but the editing, including text and graphical notation to help the viewer grasp things easily, with perfectly cut examples from the movie. All put together it's something I'd expect to see from a long-established channel that's grown immensely with time and experience. And that only means you've got great things ahead of you! 🎵🎶🍍
