I had the opposite problem to you....i flew in to Sydney on the 1st of Jan from the cold northern winter and found myself locked out of the hotel until 10:30 it was 40C by 9am nothing was open and was being cooked along with the luggage. I think it was nearer 11 by the time i got into the room. I'd been up for 40 hours. I cant imagine if it had been the other way round.

If so, I would be curious to know if you could in a safe way ask people in Siberia, how they feel about what you diplomatically worded as the "situation". Is there a code to enter or are there no names and just apartment numbers? (I remember that from early 90's from Poland, it was common in Kommuna it seems). Lucky in our house you always have a freak who is not sleeping and you can see it through the windows and then ring there^^ I wish you a good start in the US!

"Beautiful"? I know that some people have a hard-on for "brutalism", but most people certainly don't agree. The Soviet buildings are cheap and basic, and esthetics were the least of their concern. The point was to cram as many people as possible to these buildings as cheaply as possible. Yet, typically you still had to wait years or decades to get a flat. Meanwhile you would live with your parents (and even grandparents..).

I lived in the US in the Midwest for a number of years but the work-life balance is better in Europe. In US if you have a job you will get 10 days paid vacation every year compared with 25 in Europe. The US though is the land of opportunity and if you work hard and have an entrepreneurial spirit who knows what you can achieve. It’s a fascinating country. It’s a dangerous country too. Good luck.

Hi Svetlana, lovely to see you again, I have watched you in Surgut before and it does have a certain character, I hope you will be giving us your opinions of the US, I have been many times due to having family in New York Alabama and Florida, it’s a country of extremes and sure there’s a mixture of cultures some of which I find distasteful, I have learned with all of my travels that there are lots of things to avoid and I’m sure your partner will guide you through, the gun culture can be a difficult thing to consider although my only experience was when I visited LA when someone held up a gas station, fortunately I was around 200 metres away and left on instruction of my friends, it’s a great country to visit and experience but I couldn’t live there, if you are able to travel freely it certainly makes a difference in how you settle and make it your home then you can look forward to returning, my favourite place to be is Tokyo because of the way of life but I don’t have good language skills and would never be accepted into their community, I have therefore learned that the best place for me to call home is on the south coast of England, and like I say it’s good to return home, I wish you so much joy in your new journey and hope you find the happiness you deserve ❤

If you have time, I'd like to see some video about how much the average Russian earns and what kind of home they can afford, whether they can afford a car, what they can afford to eat etc. I know you mentioned the average wage in a previous video, but that doesn't mean much without understanding the cost of living for the average Russian person. Thanks.

Look back at her old videos it will give you some idea . Also from what I have heard from friends it is cheaper outside of places like Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

I'm an average Russian. I earn 27-35K per month and live in a 3-room apartment (I got it from my grandparents). And I don't have a car, it's too expensive for me (and I prefer to relax while I go to somewhere, without concetrating on the road).

Don’t let people know your apartment will be empty ( in the states squatters would take it over)!
