It's back to boat building after we finish the DIY shelves out of scrap wood. We start sanding the inside of the hull and tidy up in the barn. Let's organize!
We are a Swedish family who have sailed the world since 2016 while sharing the adventures here on KZread. While we are still sailing, our main focus now a days is building RAN III, a 50 ft sailboat that we are building from scratch. We post a new episode every Friday so make sure to subscribe and hit the bell to be the first to know when there is a new episode!

I can't get over the massive interior space of RAN III, what a beautiful design, which is fitting for our favorite Swedish Family.
Watching you two flip your boat, and then seeing Vera hitch her bike to the pull straps, I'm thinking it's not hard to tell where she gets her spunk! You guys are a great inspiration!
I'm just in awe of Johan. What a tool-shed work-bench area. Man what I'd do if I had just 1/10th of his skill!

I am too! Yes, that's a sweet setup. I have a lot of the skill, but I'd love 1/10 of the energy and drive. Between building a boat and being a parent to their whirlwind I'm amazed he continues to have energy with such a genuine smile. (I'd also rarely remember to turn the camera on, and never remember to talk to it. 🤣)
Make beer traps out of plastic drinks cups with a piece of slate/stone with a gap for the slugs to crawl in at soil level (no theodolite needed) empty every day to feed other wildlife 😊👍
Hi Johan and Malin , I jumped aboard your channel , about 6 months ago , and have since then spent an obscene amount of time binging your channel from epsiode 1 =) What a jorney you are on. Im gonna sail my 30ft Scampi from lake Hjälmaren down to its new homeport of Ystad next week here, and you guys are truly an inspiration of what is possible with the right mindset , so thanks for that. If you would ever need a pair of extra hands carry crap or sanding or what not, hit me up , I am a Licensed welder and autobody repairdude , so I know my way around sanding and faringcompounds =). Im located between Ystad and Sjöbo. Glad Midsommar !! and keep up the amazing work you guys do !
Time has flown by. I can't believe it's been 1 1/2 years now. Looking forward to more progress.
Lovely video as always. I cant get over how Vera has grown, still every bit the fun loving character she was as a toddler.
Ran-family just en-passantly building shelves outta scrap-wood and scrap screws that look much better and also can carry a lot more than most new dedicated storage-shelves You could possibly buy these days in stores .... 😄 Ran three also starting to look like a boat, right side up and all, right? Nice to see her progressing, too. Thanks for sharing!
That little girl is the cutest thing ever !!! I have two daughters myself. God bless.
Happy Summer Solstice to our friends in Sweden! I think it's great that you're having a moment to finally catch your breath after getting the hull flipped. Once again, Vera steals the moment with her unique way of looking at the world. Your strawberries sure looked delicious! I'm glad to see you're finally starting to get some extra help with the tedious work of sanding the inside of the hull. We don't need for you three to get burn out from all the long hours! Years from now when you're plying the waters of far away oceans, you'll be able to look back on these videos to remind yourselves that hard work and determination does have it's rewards!
Had to watch these last episodes a few times, it's so amazing where you have taken us. Much "oh glorious sanding" in your future, but it is so worth it.
Wow, the hull looks incredible! I bet it felt great to see how rigid it was without needing temporary deck beams to maintain its shape. Time sure flies for us armchair viewers. Thanks for sharing not only the incredible amount of work you put into the boat itself but also the bigger picture of what it takes to tackle such a massive project. Thanks
"not prettiest shelves" 😇Sir, i have never seen you take on a task or build that wasn't well thought out and well executed. Cheers
Put EGG Shells or Peanut shells in garden it helps get rid of slugs ....ALWAYS Such Beautiful work
You guy's are going to be very famous one day, mark my words. Love your yacht.

Love the time that you spend with Vera, reinforcing her creativity and a valuable member of the team.
It is sooooooo exciting to see you both back in the boat build mode. The shelves should be a great asset for organization and time saving. Vera is sooooooo adorable. 🎉 💕 😊 See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
I have enjoyed and learnt so much of what goes into planning and building a boat. Each week I am impressed with the patience and attention to detail. I never thought watching an episode focused on cleaning and organizing would be so enjoyable and of course Vera’s adventures.
I posted this on Instagram as well, but just in case you didn't see it... We're watching you new video right now. You're talking about the slugs. The best things for them are either crushed egg shells around the edges of your garden and the plant bases and leaves or diatomaceous earth. If the bugs eat that, it acts kinda like swallowing tiny shards of glass and it kills them. Both are good for organic gardening. Hope this helps.
Yep, back to building... I know that feeling... I remember building a house extension.... sitting down with a cuppa and a biscuit...looking at the framing, and thinking oh well, better get on with it....👍
Labor of Love! The boat is going to be amazing.
A second person to sand. That will allow things to move along twice as fast. ⏳ Keep up the great work! 👷👷♀
Build yourself a nice wide set of steps to access the inside of the hull. You will want something stable enough to allow you to carry tools and materials into and out of the hull.
It is so exciting to see the inside of the hull now and get a sense of just how immense the boat really is. It will truly be a wonderful home for you and a vessel that will comfortably carry you to the far reaches of the planet. Thank you for continuing to share your fascinating journey. 👏
Sun Hill Farm is a beautiful piece of property. Plant lavender in your garden. Slugs and snails are known to have a dislike for plants with a strong fragrance. 💜 Thanks for sharing.

Shallow plates filled with cheap beer takes care of slugs.
That place is so nice I don’t know how you will ever leave it
Put a dish of beer in your gardens to catch the snails and slugs. You guys, your story and journeys are wonderful.

Yes! Second this. A shallow bowl with beer and bury it level in the garden bed. The slugs will crawl right in. Good luck!
Amazing couple ! Great job.
i love the artworks on the new shelf that Vera made!!🎨children brings what is precious...
The boat interior will never look as big again.😉 What a very lucky ‘apprentice’, I hope he makes the most of the opportunity. Fantastic. 😀👍⛵️
Love all of Vera's artwork momentous
Amazing work you do, so much fun watching your videos. Now I am not afraid to start doing a fiberglass spa tub project after seeing your boat build. You are top people, greetings from Iceland!
Have a great summer and may God bless you even more.
Cool!! 😎 Organizing your workplace is every bit as important as finishing the build as you can find the tools/supplies needed for the job. The farm is getting along nicely as well!
My God, that's a lot of work (enjoyable) .
Another great installment. What an impressive project! As a lifelong craftsman, I find it sooo gratifying to see this work progress. As others have said, you two are inspiring. Best of my own personal top three on KZread and Patreon.
Nice to see the three of you working together. This should add to the many family memories and stories. Congrats!
To improve your garden - Spraying slugs with a solution of half a cup of vinegar to one cup of water can kill them and may also deter other slugs from entering the area. The vinegar dries out the slugs, causing them to melt. You can also use vinegar to wash away slug trails and remove slug slime from your hands.

I heard Aluminum foil around the base deters them, online resources suggest broken egg shells and other methods.
For the garden, you need raised plots. If you have them raised, then you can put caps through the legs, and put salt inside them. Most crits won't go past the salt barrier. You can also take some salt, dissolve it in water and paint the outsides of the boards as a temporary measure to try and see if works out. Caveat, you kinda have to do it often.
Your work ethic is unparalleled and the project boat with a farm so unique, you have us hooked for the long haul ❤
Boat looks so amazing!! You have a lot more volume than us but very interesting to see another strip planked boat being built. Amazing job!
On the ranch I often spend more time looking for a tool than I do using it. It's not just where did I put it but rather, which project did I leave it on.
Thank you for bringing so much inspiration to the world! ( My husband and I are always pleased to know you graced our neighbourhood in Seattle. We live at Harbour Island.) Wished you to know that slugs don't like coffee grounds. If you spread them around your garden beds, they'll leave your tender, delicious plants alone.
Happy Summer/Winter Solstice from here in Australia. It is so inspiring watching how much your little family can achieve!
First one! I really appreciate you bringing all of us along on your endeavors.
very smart kid to come help out sanding, it will repay him the rest of his life.
After all this time the turning of the hull was a pinnacle event!! Now, on to what I have most relished, to see the interior and deck become a home on the water.
Your progress is great, I have been building a four seater aircraft from scratch over the last almost 14 years, there is a lot more work to these projects than you can ever anticipate, but you start and just work on it as much as possible, the best way to do it is full time like you do, it goes a lot faster. Its very satisfying to see your progress, thanks fir sharing. Ps miss all the beautiful places you sailed to, cant wait to see where this yacht will take you.
So pleasant, watching the life of the family… Olaf is a great addition … Generosity to good people… thank you for another lovely episode …👍🏴🥸
Härligt att se, nu väntar man på själva inredningen och slutfasen, lycka till, både med bygget och planteringen
They make a copper stripping that goes around planter boxes like those tp combat slugs. They won't cross copper because it is toxic to them. You can also set beer traps. They are just small cups that you put in the ground to their top that is filled with beer. The slugs are attracted to the sugar, and have a final party in the cup before they pass.
Great work on repurposing the wood for shelves, great job. Wow, the place is looking great. How wonderful to get some help with the sanding. Love the vlog :)
RAN III is looking fabulous.
Same “ridiculous” focus to Detailed planning and logistics as Leo has done. Think- Think - Think, and then Do. To most it looks slow, but it is the secret to a fast Finish, … NOT a fast Start. Leo set an incredible high standard, but I am pleased to see that RAN looks to be built to the same high stnd. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤙🏻
Im just taken back at how wide the beam is! A+ guys!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
A drop of cheap beer in Old jars set down to level of soil quickly reduces slug population. Wet and dry sandpaper notched around base of vulnerable plants. Cuts the belly out of them.
Crushed up eggshells help repel slugs. You could tuck the crushed shells under leaves so you don't have to look at them.
Love your Video’s Thanx! The only thing is….. To Short! I can Watch them all day long…
Visually changes should start happening a lot faster through this winter. I wish I had you sense of adventure and stick-to-it-tiveness. Sailing in that giant boat is going to be a amazing.
Thank you RAN for 399...
For slugs and snails, try a few beer traps. Easy to make with old yoghurt pots and I’ve found them very effective. The cheapest lager seems to work the best!
So excited to see the next stage. Been watching you for 5 years now and love your channel.
Thankyou 👍 great stuff
Every bit is beautiful!
Congratulations to both of you for your achievements so far, it's really great to see the hull turned over and now I can really appreciate the size of boat, you will have plenty of room to cruise any where you want to, it's hard to believe it's 1 & 1/2 years since you started but then I look at Vera and how much she has grown and the yard around the barn is looking good also 👍👍🇳🇿
So beautiful!
I love watching things get organized! Sorry about your garden, damn slugs. Have a good weekend!
Watching the construction! To combat slugs, spread traps made from the bottoms of pet bottles filled with beer and salt in the garden beds. Greetings from Brazil
I use coffee around my plants, works well. So drink plenty of ground coffee :)
When you have your Patron Party you could have everyone sign frame 22. It would be cool to have people with their names and maybe a small message with you as you continue. Just a thought. I have been watching since the beginning. Your channel is one of my favorites. Thank you for sharing.
Country living at its finest. ( and boat building).
Great video as usual. Nice upbeat music too. My week is not complete until I see what is happening on RAN. Cheers!
Looking great as per usual. Impressive really. Vera is adorable and always makes me smile. Cheers you guys 🍻
Your videos are always so relaxing to watch even though you're working your butts off 😂💞🤗
Hallo zusammen! Ein kleiner Tipp: Gegen Schnecken hilft Vaseline. Damit müsst ihr die Holzumrandung mit einem 3-4 cm Streifen versehen. Schöne Grüße aus Deutschland von Eduard
COMING RIGHT ALONG LOOKS AWESOME!
The thing about shelves is you need to put the tools away when you finish with them. HAHAHA, Plus a young one willing to work. When RAN2 is finished need to take him on a sail.
Impressive how you bang out the jobs without complaint (at least not on camera)… the output is amazing!
I set an alarm to remember to go outside at night to take care of all the snails that were attacking the garden. It took me 2 nights to sent them on thier way...
We used to put beer in a jar lid for the slugs. It mght be worth a read. You guys are so inspiring. Thank you Maybe frame 32 could be a table inside the boat.
Your video's are so good this one really started my day right ! Watching you work together on such an amazing project is inspiring makes me want to get up and get going . best wishes from San Diego , Ca USA
The best defence of slugs is beer bait traps. Any beer will work. :)

I was going to suggest that too, slugs have been a real problem this year here in Wales as well. We tend to use my poorer attempts at home made cider for our slug traps, someone or something may as well enjoy it haha
malin, put copper tape around your planters, it deters the slugs. Also, beer traps work great.
If you nail a strip of flat copper to your raised bed edge the slugs won’t cross it. Beer traps work great too. And there’s always ducks!
Vera is adorable!
You must have the patience of a saint for all that sanding 👍👍
Crushed egg shells are good in planter boxes for stoping slugs/snails.
_'Surviving but not thriving'_ exactly describes my garden situation as well, I can grow oranges, lemons, feijoa and even chinotto but no way will my chocolate pudding tree set fruit and am fighting a losing battle with the birds as to who gets most of Muscat grapes.
Stay safe and we'll see you next week.
crushed eggs shells sprinkled around plants works great for slugs :D
Great job guys....................love it.
Iron max pro, certified organic slug and snail control.
That's one hull of a boat!!!
Pour salt around your planter boxes for the slugs .
Great update on the build and the shelves look great. Greg
Отличная работа по дереву. Удачи!!!!! Смотрим из Марокко
Great job with the shelves.
En syngg bil, Vera. Glad midsommar!
Ran One Fan: haven't written in awhile. Good too see you all look well. I remembered the profile and the cabin design when you showed it early in the barn build. I am wondering, guessing about the adventures you'll have if you try to finish the deck and cabin house inside the barn ! (how will you get it out of the barn? ) The Cabin height would be pretty close to the top of the ceiling of the barn ? Maybe build the cabin shell by itself and then take the boat back out of the barn and crane it to the deck? wow that would be an adventure. Build the boat and dissemble the barn ? wow. So many things to plan and think about I couldn't resist throwing that one at you. hope you don't have to many sleepless nights. (lol) have fun.
Härligt avsnitt. Och bra musik!
