Oh my gosh, you have no idea what you started...you inspired me to pick up 2 peices of furniture a few weeks ago and started cleaning and sanding today after work. While I was in my garage my neighbor came over and said he had some furniture in his garage and asked if I wanted it. I mow have 7 peices of nice furniture that I am going to try to meet the 4 Ps on.

Couple points. 1. The cabinet and furniture paint is latex based. As are most of their paints at Lowes, except Rustoleum. 2. Most of the primers are also latex as well. 3. You can use latex paint on furniture. Just make sure you add a topcoat. The spray one made by Krylon is quite excellent. 4. Most people are not going to want to clean their brushes with chemicals because they use oil based. Use latex and wash with soap and water. Side note: most people aren't going to dispose of the paint properly so probably only buy what you need. 5. Buy the mistint samples and use those for small pieces of furniture. Also pick up some plain white or black and you can make your own custom neutral paint for a fraction of the cost. 6. If you prime, there's no need to sand. It's an unnecessary step if you're not refinishing actual wood. 7. Chalk paint will stick beautifully you any piece. No sanding or priming required. For anyone in the comments reading this, I just to work for Lowes and am a paint expert so it's good information. Hope this helps.

I appreciate the pointers you've given. I myself am a carpenter, one thing I have learned in my many years in the trade is when painting over glossy finishes like faux wood pieces (think the old wall paneling), the newer fancy paints that don't require primer or limited surface prep are expensive. One option to lower cost is to hit the piece with a rough grit sand paper, wipe with tack cloth, coat with an OIL BASED primer using foam roller, two coats if needed (sand between coats), wipe with tack cloth again, paint with latex paint of your choice, apply several light coats of polycrilic to complete. Although the new chalky finish type paints are convenient they are certainly a profit eater and may be a barrier of entry to some new flippers. I have used the above process to refinish everything from kitchen and bathroom cabinets, countertops, paneling walls, furniture pieces, and more. Use the inexpensive brushes and foam rollers for the primer coats and dispose of properly after each project and get the quality brushes and rollers for the latex and polycrilic applications and wash after each use. The oil based primer forms a hard shell over the glossy finish of the faux wood which allows your latex to adhere to the piece just like it was meant to be used.

But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzread.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

🤯👏Lauren... This has to be one of the BEST videos on painting/flipping furniture on KZread. Straightforward, simple, thorough, reassuring, informative. I have watched approximately 10k hours (an exaggeration, but not by much) of painting and furniture flip videos over the span of a few YEARS. YEARS. I’ve yet to pull the trigger and actually paint something. Anything... other than my toenails. I freeze at the last minute. Was planning, for the umpteenth thousandth time, a trip to Lowe’s today. Started second guessing myself AGAIN. Overwhelmed with my product list, the steps, the paint, and everything else. What if’s. There are just so many do’s and don’t, products, conflicting reviews, etc etc etc. Just when I think I’ve mustered up the courage, I panic and run to the computer to do “more research”. THIS IS HOW I STUMBLED UPON your channel today. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I am going for it! THANK YOU!!!! (The hilarious (hmm... maybe concerning) part? I sell on Marketplace too, well I had a desk that I put a lot of work into and had it posted for $200 at first and eventually lowered to $80. In my area people want things free. So after time I lowered it. It was posted for almost 3 months and I was becoming sad that no one wanted it. For some reason last week I had a few days of consistent messages and it finally sold. I definitely did not make anything off of it but I wanted it gone. I wish the people in my area would appreciate the work of a piece.

I started watching your videos about a month ago and I love watching what you do. You explain things thoroughly and it makes it so much easier to understand how and why you do the things you do in order to make a quality piece. For Christmas this year I’m asking for multiple items to begin flipping furniture. Wish me luck.

You’re a great teacher. I’ve been playing with furniture for last 7 years, and I have a blast with it. One suggestion: A weeny roller with a high density foam for smooth look, is great time saver, and you’ll avoid brush strokes. Otherwise, I would have suggested a high quality brush, and then linked something on how to properly clean it, as they can last you years when taken care of. I’ve used the Valspar furniture paint, I believe it is an Enamel. So like latex, it’s totally fine to use on furniture, and actually holds up better than chalk or milk paints. In the long run. IMO, but we all have our preferences. I wish I had the teacher mentality, you possess. You explain things well. Keep up the great work!!

Great 4P furniture flip advice! I just may start to do it, too since I love thrifty shopping. Thanks for your great teaching video. I could not agree more with you about patient. In fact, I sold a great piece of oriental carpet at a very low price because I was not patient enough and lower the price too soon before the buyer found me. However, I am glad that it has blessed someone with a great piece of furniture for an awesome price as the buyer really loved it.

Not going to flip any furniture but you have given me the courage to paint my solid pine bedroom set. I am going to start with the two night stands that I use as end tables in my living room. They are almost identical to the ones you flipped in this video but they have three drawers. Now I just need to decide on a colour!

Another great video ♡ something I do after opening the paint,I hammer the tip of a nail to make holes so after pouring paint it won't pool in the rim. It'll drip back into the can through the nail holes. It helps paint not splattering when you hit the lid back down when you're don't too. You did an awesome job on these!♡
