DIY KITCHEN TABLE MAKEOVER | How to Refinish a Table | Beginner Friendly
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video, I am making over this commission dining room table and chairs using Rustoleum Chalk Paint and MinWax Stain. Dining chairs are officially my arch enemy when it comes to using a brush to paint them. This set definitely tested my patience! I hope you learned a few things about refinishing a table and chairs! This is a great idea to save some money and flip the dining room table you may have already in your home! Let me know down in the comments about your experiences with similar flips. Thanks for watching!

I got a sprayer but not good at it yet. And I won’t use it for the bin shellac because of cleaning
Great job! A little hint: I do 2 coats of BIN shellac primer when painting white. That second coat does amazing and will cut down on coats of white. Also I have the store add 65 drops of black to a "gallon" (15 drops to a quart) as the BIN has a yellow cast and the light grey (after adding the black) makes the white paint brighter!

I realized I should have done two coats of primer after I did the first coat of paint! I do actually have some gray primer as well, but I usually use that if I’m gonna go for a darker color. Thanks for watching!
Oh good! I am soooooo glad your rate is $30-$40/hr! I hope you record these notes because you’re definitely going to get more dining set commissions. Please let us know how they like it! Great video!!

Oh yeah! I've definitely noted the lessons learned 😉 I will. Head over to our IG where I will be posting the video when we deliver. Should be sometime this weekend! Thanks for dropping in Leslie!
Girlie I would have immediately bought a sprayer before my sander ever touched the first piece of wood. You are one tough cookie! I knew when you first said $450 you were at least $200 to $300 short. Beautiful result.

Hey hey! 😊☺️
Omg, I love this set. The color of the stain against the white is just gorgeous. ❤
You have inspired me!! I had a counter-high square dining room table, but our family has outgrown it so I sold it on marketplace and found a regular round table with a leaf on marketplace. I wasn't going to redo it, but after watching this flip as well as a Beyond Paint flip, I am gonna do it!! I've purchased the paint and am waiting for it to come in. On another note, I am a retired teacher of 30 years. Proud of you for finding a way to paying off your student loans and finding a new passion in the process. You go girl!!
I love to watch you I want to white wash a dining table and chairs that was my mothers it’s over 25 years old it’s an oak table with a pedestal I’m looking so forward to doing this I’ve never done this before but in watching you I believe I have enough information so thank you for sharing what you do because it’s just beautiful.
I absolutely love how this turned out! You definitely underpriced yourself. I have a set of my own that I am wanting to do exactly like this so thank you for showing me how to do this!!🤍

Looks great! You sure are patient! I am going to try flipping my first chair this weekend. You are so motivating and inspiring! Thanks for all the great videos.
Awesome job Lauren. I enjoy watching your videos and learning about new products. You are an inspiration for others to make old things new again. I used that wipe on poly before on an old cabinet that I painted 25+ years ago and it is still water repellant if someone sits a glass on it. Looking forward to many more videos this summer and to learn with you about using a sprayer.
Beautiful! I love how u price your pieces it's fare. People always want something for nothing which blows me. Keep up the awesome work Teach🥰
You could double your production (higher production, higher profit) if you invested in a paint sprayer. This dining room table set would've been perfect for a paint sprayer.

@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher I just did two Barstools for the first time with the Wagner Flexio sprayer. It was a Godsend not to have to hand paint all those spindle areas! I used it with the Kilz, the paint and I watched a video where you can use DB Gator Hide top coat too (might start spraying ALL my top coats at the very least...way faster and nice finish!)

BIG TIME 😅 Ya live and ya learn right? Thanks for watching Lindee!
It must be so difficult to figure out how long everything will take to do!! Sixteen hours sounds like a lot but it really isn't much for an 8-piece set that includes big pieces. It was exciting to hear you mention summer, I can't wait to see what you have in store for us when school is out, but please also remember to take time to rest & relax! It's so easy to overwork & get burned out when we work for ourselves.

You got it Poppy! You are so so welcome my friend 😊
I think the people who asked for this took advantage of you. If I had asked for you to do this for me & you said $450, I would have said absolutely too low. What’s with people? They knew this was taking advantage. PS you did a LOVELY job on this❣️ I should have said that first but I’m disgusted at the people. But you kept a great attitude throughout. You’re a BEAUTIFUL person❣️ I need to learn from you both from technique but more importantly from your attitude. 🙏🏼🥰🙏🏼
New to furniture makeovers and this is a great video full of valuable information!!! Thank you!
Lauren you did an OUTSTANDING JOB ! I am about to refinish our kitchen table {was weak finish when we bought it}, and watching your video with all of your detailed information, has given me the courage to take on my project. I need to borrow a sander for now, but I am looking forward to buying a sander like yours soon. Love the wipe on Poly. Sure looks easier than brushing on Poly. Thank you for sharing !
This just popped up in my feed tonight and WOW! It is so inspiring how far you’ve come since doing this piece (which looks awesome) just 7 months ago!! Obviously you are quite experienced with a sprayer since doing this set (I just watched you do the crib with the Graco one, which is definitely a more advanced sprayer), but this is a great tutorial for those just starting out, or prefer to hand paint vs spraying. Congrats on the success you’ve had this year and can’t wait to see what 2022 brings for you and Neiman!💜
I’m so glad I found your site. I’m in Australia. I’ve just started revamping out every old second hand dining table and 4 chairs. Boy is it hard work!
I’ve contemplated painting our dining set. After watching this I’m just not sure if I’m ready to tackle. But one thing I’ve learned from this video - wipe on polyurethane 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Top coating is my least favorite thing.
You did an excellent job. I was expecting such precision because you are a teacher. It's in your blood . Your tutorials and explanations are stellar. From a retired school teacher to a Young teacher, You Get an A+
Great video! I'm going to be trying a dining set in the near future so it was good watching you and getting all those tips. For someone who's less than a year in you do great work and know what you're doing! I hope I can continue learning from you, most of what I've done so far has been my own but I've got some pieces to start soon that I hope to flip.
Beautiful job and I know how much work this was! I've done a lot of refinishing over the last 40 years. I generally use oil base paint and stains for durability on high use furniture.

You rock, i'm a retired school teacher and so I am doing some projects around my home. You motivated me. I have a table in my carport that i've just sanded. You gave me a glimpse of what I am to do. Beautiful job, a lot of work but so satisfying! I love how it turned out.
Great ending, personally I would invest in a spray gun for painting purposes and a quick tip on color finish when staining, if you hit a zone of this or that always mix both colors at a 50/50 ratio it usually comes out where you want it.
Gorgeous results. Definitely exited for you to get a sprayer.
Just Beautiful!!! Truly time consuming and a lot of patience required. It paid off.

I am preparing to paint/stain a small round dinner table + 4 chairs. I'm looking forward to my FIRST furniture flipping project!
Again you did a great job gave me a lot of tips on a dining set I'm going to refresh for my kids thank you.
It looks amazing.I have done several pieces this way.( stain top, paint bottom) On the chairs, I find it easier to remove the seats whenever possible before staining them. Also, I flip the chairs upside down onto a table or counter and do the legs first( both coats) then flip them upright to do the backs and area where seat will re-attach to. I always tell my clients that it will be materials plus labor and try to give a ballpark on each. But a lot of times I still short change myself.🤪
I really enjoyed this session. It turned out beautiful!
What a beautiful set! You are truly talented. I always learn something or lots of things from your channel. You are so beautiful and talented. Also thank you for developing the minds of the children. I'm sure you are a very requested teacher. Blessings to you.

@@TiredKnitter The only way I cope is to do a tiny thing when I'm able. It may just be a lick of paint on something. Otherwise I'm too kaput.
I did a table and chairs like this for my sister about five years ago. I also used wipe on poly. I have to say that she was not happy with how the finish on the table top and chair seats showed wear. Of course, that meant that she was unhappy with me, as well. I did a dining set and chairs for myself about ten years ago and used brush on poly. I have been quite satisfied with how my set has worn. So, I went back and redid her set with brush on poly. She is now happy with her dining set. That means that she is now happy with me again. That is entirely understandable, because like you......... I am quite charming and irresistible!
