Hey Ben I'm doubtful you'll see this but I played in my first USCF chess tournament today and went 2/4 in the U1600 section. Just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me - I'm definitely older than most of the people there but I'm happy to challenge myself and learn.

I played a Lichess Liga blitz tourney today and I noticed back rank tactics in SO MANY games today, thanks to this video. Even had a fun one where I forked a rook/queen/mate. Really great lecture!

"Chessbase is just a stupid program." As a guy with 25 years of software engineering on my back, I want to agree most heartily. One of the really great things about Ben is that he just says what he thinks. Also, I'll always love every single video where he teaches a class of kids...

In the last game after Qb2, what is the response against Rc8? All I can see is that the black rook can't take the white rook or he hangs his queen, and the black queen can't take the white queen because it hangs mate. Maybe black is supposed to play Qb1 check afterwards, but then I think white blocks with Qf1. Clearly I'm missing something if the computer says it's plus 7 for black, I just can't see what. Edit: Nevermind, after Qb1 Qf1, you can trade queens and then the white rook is hanging so black wins.

20:00 this totally reminded me of a lovely trap with which i won several online games in 8 moves or so. 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bf4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.e5 dxe5 6.dxe5 Qxd1 7.Raxd1 Nh5 8.Nd5 Nxf4?? 9.Nxc7+ Kf8 10.Rd8# This lovely trap made me play the Jobava-London because I looked for something to kick King's Indian Defense players' asses and boy do I kick ass now. (Of course, against more serious players I play 5.Qd2 instead of 5.e5 and kick their asses more slowly :)
