Glad it worked for you Tim. If you drained it because of the bad water smell, please check out my video on the Corro-Protect powered anode rod. It's been working great. Thanks again. Dean

Thanks for the informative video. 👍🏼
Great video! This is just what I needed to finally get the water from my water heater to drain it! I still had trouble getting it to flow without the cold water supply being turned on, but when I turned it on, it flowed and blew out lots of junk. I repeated this several times. I may just have to flush my water heater with the supply on constantly. Thanks for the great advice!

Excellent vid. I needed 2 hoses as bottom one wouldn’t drain, removed top plug/ valve and stuck a hose there. I will use this flush method this weekend though

Hey Mr. Garcia. Glad you stopped by. I continued to have stinky water and the back flushing helped for awhile with my hot water until I discovered the Corro-Protec device. I did a sponsored video on it and my hot water has not smelled badly since. Plus no more flushing or vacuuming. Please subscribe to find it on my channel or click here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKGbt817n6zQetI.html I know you don't know me but I'll give you the straight up truth on this, it works. And I don't get kickbacks from referrals. Thanks; Dean
thanks for the tips

Thank you for the very informative and well produced video. My house is on a well in the NC mountains near Boone. When I tried to flush my water heater last Spring, very little water came out. I expect I need to back flush it. Thanks for explaining the steps. BTW.. It looks like you are somewhere near Pilot Mountain.

The sediment is calcium. Horrible in well water. I tried to drain my mom's water heater today, but it is so clogged up it won't drain. I'm going to try your back wash method. Thanks for posting

I tried backflushing my downstairs tank 4x but it didn't work. I also tried turning the water on to the tank to flush it out and nothing comes out. My tank upstairs only drains if I turn the water on to the tank. When I turn the water off nothing comes out. Despite my issues it was an excellent video.

Sounds like it’s vapor locked. Did you turn on a hot water faucet or two? Maybe try opening the pressure relief valve as well. Good luck!
Drain it then take that drain valve out and replace with a full port ball valve and an adapter to fit whatever hose you are using.
Thank you so much for sharing this. Could I ask you for clarification on the beginning? I get the idea of backflushing but from the video I can't tell where the outside (cool water) hose goes on the water heater. The water heater hose seemed to be for the hot water. Could someone clarify for me? It sounds like I need to have two entry points for hoses for the water heater for this process (one for the cold to shoot in and one for the hot to shoot out) and I don't see that on mine. Thanks for explaining!

Let me try to explain: the hose attachment at the bottom of the tank is the 'only' hose attachment. There is not one for cold and one for hot. When we attached the hose to the tank at 40 seconds into the video and opened the tank spigot, we drained the hot water out the other end of the hose. Once finished, all we did was take that other end of the hose and attach it to an outside water spigot and turn on the water for a minute, then remove the hose from the outside spigot and let it drain out again and repeated this 4 or more times before closing the spigot on the bottom of the tank. Hope this helps.
I wish I could get to my hot water tank Dean, it's in the back of my closet inside its own sealed closet and all of my shirts are hanging in front of that door, lol 😆. I've had it burst twice in 25 years and it's not a fun clean up. I guess I could dig it out and hook a hose up to it and run it out my bedroom window, lol. 👍👍 Jay.

Hey Jay. Yeah that closet location would make for a tough location when problems arise. Just wait til you see the upcoming video I’m releasing soon on how to vacuum the tank. Sounds crazy I know. Thanks for viewing and best down there in Cabarras County.

@@still-DJ I agree DJ, right behind my hot water tank, opposite wall is the breaker box, right up against the tank, only a sheet of drywall separating it. I Agee they should've made an access door to make it easier to get to.
Thats great video. I recently tried to drain my water heater and it didn’t drain well, i guess thats the reason. But i also have pressure regilator on the tank. Do you have one ? When i opened pressure regulator it drained a wTer from that pipe
@PilotViewProductions

No, there's no pressure regulator on mine. Thanks for viewing.
Are there any tricks to do this on an installation with no cold water cutoff to the heater?

That is definitely calcium carbonate in your water. However, calcium in the water does not produce a noticeable odor.

Thanks 5th Day. Fortunately later on, I installed the electrified Corro-Protec titanium anode rod and that has fixed the smell. Might wanna check out that video if you suffer from the same.
Roughly what $$$ would a Plumber charge to come do a Back-Flush?
@PilotViewProductions
Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, that's like asking what a car costs. Depends on your area of the country and what the prevailing costs are for where you live. I'm no plumber but I have a family member who is. If I were to hazard a price range as of 1/28/2023, I would expect to pay less that $200 and hopefully more like $100 to $150.

Plumber in AZ. Here the going rate for a tanked water heater flush is anywhere from $59 to $199 depending on the company and if it’s slow or busy for them.
Never understood why people feel compelled to put background music on a how-to video. We're all watching this video because we have a problem with something and to have distracting background music is completely unnecessary
