Bacillus Anthracis | Properties, Pathology, Disease, Management Approach
Bacillus anthracis is a gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria. It causes anthrax that can be deadly in many cases. It is found naturally in soil & competing to get access to nutrients, which it produces by breaking down other organisms. The disease spreads when the bacteria are inhaled, ingested, or by contact on a skin wound. Let’s review its properties, pathogenesis, toxins, disease types, and the management approach.

As a bit of trivia. Gruinard Island in Scotland UK was the WW2 site of an anthrax bioweapon experiment. This left the island uninhabitable until decontaminated after 48 years of quarantine. WP has an article about it.

I like the clear and concise nature of the presentation and the fact your son is doing the dialogue gives me an added lift. Still this format would never substitute for your own deep dives into the various topics which you so passionately take on. There is a place for each in the educational sphere. One which set us on a more contemplative course and one to right the ship if we loose focus. Love the way your illustrations are use in this format Great work DrBean.

All bonemeal imported into the UK (as a fertilizer) has to be sterilized now, as this used to be a common source of this disease. The spores being so resilient means there may still be viable spores in hop fields, rose gardens, etc. Still, I should imagine that this is now just regarded as a ‘theoretical risk’ as I haven’t heard any resent reports of anthrax being contracted from ground which was once heavily fertilized with bonemeal. This may be different in some other countries of course.

I'm not a medical student, had biology in high school 50 years ago but I could grasp some of this because drawings & accompanying words on screen were clear. The voice moved @ a good place. But of course I'd have to rewatch about 25 times to maybe get it enough to pass a test. 😆 But I'm not the intended target of course.

There appears to be a mistake at 4:20. You list post-9/11 US human anthrax cases and deaths by the three forms of the disease. Did you mean to list both "pulmonary" and "inhalation" anthrax to the exclusion of gastrointestinal?

That is not very likely at all. Like I stated a con artist.

  • @Eagleizer

@@mamandapanda185 You need to read my post again. I said nothing of what you are saying. I said it is too low at the end of every sentence. That is my opinion. I did not say that it was too low to hear what he say at the end of every sentence, although it happened quite often. I also did not say he forced lower voice. I sad "LIKE he try to have deeper voice". When using "like" like this, it means "as if" or "similar to". I was writing with a remote on my TV, which is very tedious a pure pain, so I was also trying to be short. I still cannot see how you could read that from what I wrote without adding your own imagination. It was important to point out that I did not mean the VOLUME of his voice when I said LOW, but the frequency of his voice, hence the reference to how it sounds: "Like he try to have deeper" note than he is able to produce. And that is actually how it sounds, because many of the words at the end has very little volume compared to when he speaks at higher notes. What else would cause the low volume and disappearing words at the end of many his sentences? The disappearing words is a fact, proven by the video itself, although I did not claim he forced his voice in my OP as you imply. Have a nice day!

@@Eagleizer I think that it's helpful to (be able to) elaborate when you critique someone's voice over. I think it's neither too low in tone or volume at the end of every sentence, but do perceive it every so often. I'm pretty sure that there are two people in the recording, too. Maybe the person editing the voice over spliced corrections in. I'm offering an opinion, too. Not everyone on the internet is out to offend you.
