Thanks so much. BWV 544 may be my favorite work by Bach, and certainly my favorite among the pipe organ preludes and fugues. And Elske te Lindert's vigorous interpretation is wonderfully clear and informed! The great mystery of the piece itself is that some date it to 1727 and that it may be Bach's last organ prelude and fugue composed. We can assume he continued playing preludes and fugues on the pipe organ after that and up until his death in 1750, but if this is the last one he composed, why was that? (He continued writing preludes and fugues for harpsichords and clavichords--Volume II of WTC came out in 1744.) Perhaps he had composed enough for his students to study and he was enough of a genius to just improvise a P&F whenever the occasion came around? Think of that for a second!
Most excellent. The animation actually made the music more understandable for me.
Amazing as always. You chose the absolute best record of this piece of I’ve heard. Netherlands Bach Society is a treasure
I am blown away by the melodic genius, complexity, pattern, movement, construction, harmony, progression and power of Bach's music. Soli Deo Gloria
Me encanta Bach, muchas gracias por tu trabajo...
Very nice. The graphical score for the fugue was pleasant to watch, and made the dense and complex counterpoint immediately clear. I wonder how the fugue would sound if the voices were arranged for chamber ensemble.
This a good one. Thanks for the vid 👍
