When my soul is hurt deeply, I turn to God and listen to Bach. It calms my soul like nothing else can.

Bach's music is so wonderfully soothing, and so beautiful. Years ago, when going through a divorce I could not sleep. My sister brought me all her Bach CDs, and I played them at night. I still could not sleep,, but the music calmed and soothed me, and helped me through the nights! Good wishes from South Africa 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

I can related to you experience. I listened to Bach too late at night because I couldn’t sleep from a divorce. It would calm me. I also used the songs while studying for school late into the night. Hope you are doing better. Blessings.

@@julianwynne8705 With all due respect to your profoundly insightful observation, which so cleverly responds to what was obvioulsy a use of figure of speech; I suggest that had composers pre-those 800 years offered up memorable music it might have and may well have been thereafter preserved and written down; preserved in musical memory and performance, captured in the new musical notation. We have thousands of pages of highly prized literature and received learning going back to hundreds of years before it was 'written'. Just a thought.

(2) the 'thousands of pages' may SUGGEST what they in some sense 'go back to', but what they go back to isn't, is it, THE SAME as what eventually got written down (and which we can read now: e.g. Genesis I.1 may be based on what God told Adam (who told Cain, whose descendants eventually told the perhaps 4th c BCE writers) about the order in which he had during that eventful week created the whole caboodle, but that Genesis wasn't WRITTEN during that week (since even Hebrew has a history, whereas that week was presumably the first week OF history...), was it?!

In any case Bach will be forever the best musican who could so deeply touch the soul of person of any nationality ,age or social status. I have end stage Adrenal Failure. So i lay here in bed - at least i am in my own home. And wonder whether my Loving G-O-D will take me today or tonight or if some how I will come through. It’s such a sweet time listening to Bach. Although Brother Beethoven is my Favorite lol.

Für mich als Bach Fan einfach wunderbar🤗🤗, Bach und Beethoven waren und sind einfach immer noch die größten Komponisten ihrer Zeit gewesen!

Bach was a great secretary; he took down God's dictation note for note, leaving nothing out. I feel as if I'm listening to purified inspiration and the arrangements are lovely. Thank you; I needed to chill out and I did.

I knew a young boy who would sit before the radio with tears in his eyes listening to this music.

(1) tears IN HIS EYES - what a surprising place to find them... (2) onion would have the same effect if cut up close to him (or the recording of a close friend being tortured...) The upshot of this is that it's not the tears which indicate that it's significant music we're listening to; the interesting question then becomes: what IS it that indicates that?

Bach is hands down my favourite composer. He is my happy place. To wake up to or go to sleep to or if I need to take a few minutes during the day, Bach is it. I listen and for a while the world is a better place.

Last year in late April, my elderly Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with cancer had a seizure and sharply declined over the couse of the following two weeks. During that time, he spent a lot of time on my lap listening to this music. I know it was soothing for us both and helped me so much when it was time for him to pass over the Rainbow Bridge. Listening now, almost a year later, this music brings me right back to those precious last moments with my little friend, my heart. Rest in peace, Charlie (10-4-08 to 5-10-23). I hope I see you again someday. Thank you for this magnificent music and all of its power.
