It's been a long time since I've dived into any Sakura Gakuin stuff. I'm feeling inspired to do that now. These old videos are so valuable because they reference who they were and how far they have come. Half the fun of Babymetal is following their journey from these cute little girls to becoming international stars.

05:00 They're singing «Agepan, agepan, reito mikan». Agepan is a deep-fried bread topped with sugar or sweet soy bean powder. It's popular among kids and a very common snack in schools. "Reito mikan" means "frozen mikan". A mikan is a kind of mandarin or tangerine that grows on winter time so people pick these fruits and store them in the freezer until summer to be enjoyed half-frozen, it's like a 100% natural sorbet.

Kawaii overload! I was calmly bored and listening to the same metal as always for years and I ended up unexpectedly watching things like this. At some point, I dived into SG stuff just to understand their origins and why they are so special. And they made me a better and happier person.

Excellent content G-metal! (What happened to the sound at 5:52? Those two were indeed the perfect couple and you can clearly see how close they were. As you said, Su and Moa confirmed a couple times that they are still in contact with Yui, and that she is doing well. ❤ MoiMoi are the cutest ❤

Frozen tangerines were often sold at train station kiosks in the past. The skin of Japanese tangerines is soft and easy to peel🍊

My understanding is all Yui keeps in touch with Su and Moa. They do look to have been best of friends. Many people don't know about Sakura Gakuin and even some that do may forget that Babymetal was once one of many sub units of Sakura Gakuin. Each of the girls performed together in main unit of Sakura Gakuin and then one or two sub units. It is fun to see Yui and Moa participating in Twinklestars.

Great reaction, great content. MoiMoi went a bit MuteMute for a short while in there. Where you said about "...even before Black BABYMETAL..." that looked like their graduation year and if that is right that was not before Black BABYMETAL.

I will make an attempt to add a few lines of missing translations: 7:27 "It was a lot of fun!" 7:30 "This was the first time the two of us did a photo shoot together" 7:34 Yui: "Nervous right?" Moa: "Nervous!" 7:38 "But, it was fun with just the two of us." 8:10 "Baibaai!!" (Bye bye as you picked up) Having the music playing in the background of the clip makes it harder for a newbie like me. 😅 I need to learn how to read Kanji, but it seems like a daunting task. Hiragana and Katakana took a week to learn, while Kanji will probably take years. What's encouraging is that knowing a few is better than knowing none.

As a bonus I realized "momo" means peach, so we now have "peachmetal". It's almost too good of a coincidence considering Yui loved tomatoes... From tomato princess to peachmetal. 🦊🤘

At 4:10 you see the heart and skull pictures in the Babymetal LOGO! That is dope! Never seen that before.

That's alright, I'll forget all about them by the time I react to them. LOL

I understand the privacy thing in Japan, but don't you think if Yui was involved in a singing or musical project, this would be Public Knowledge ? I mean. its been like 6 years. I think if YUi ever came back in some capacity, BM would skyrocket. I also think Momo would be kept on, as she is also winning the hearts of many.

Great content as always. The bonds between these girls is so heartwarming. Have you check Su-metal vocal performance in early days before Babymetal? If not i highly suggest you to check it out! Here are some most recommended song (Otoshimono, Asu He no Tobira, Onaji Sora wo Miageteru)

Asu He No Tobira (Door to Tomorrow) is her earliest performance that has made me shed a few tears. Great recommendations, they are probably my top 3 as well.

5:08 what is interesting, making little songs is what they did. And that's also how we got Babymetal Song of 4/Yon no Uta. 5:28 as I understood it, it's the school lunch, it's frozen orange juice I believe.

I never realised just how early they started and gives some proper perspective here. You don't just throw a group like this together. Without a massive amount of time and hard work. I had no idea just how true that was as good god lol. No wonder they are so damn good as talk about starting early lol. I see now where their fruit connection comes from. Ladies are a national treasure!! Thank you for this amazing backstory. 🙀💕

They are definitely kawaii!!

They came from another dance and sing academy together. They've known each other since they were 6 yo. They met Su at Sakura Gakuin when they were 11. They transferred in!! When Kobametal saw them, he knew he had his "Dance and Scream" team. FYI, they were selected for Babymetal, they didn't volunteer!!!
