As far as the size of the crowd, they sold out the Tokyo Dome (55,000 people) 3 nights in a row. If I recall correctly, this particular concert had somewhere around 18,000 folks in the crowd. If you can find live footage of Red Night or Black Night... It's an astounding concert.

What do they say between the last ‘BabyMetal’ and the first ‘See You’? -There are four call outs on the walk back to the main stage, followed by one last one from the main stage. Then Su yells a very loud and high pitched phrase which all three then repeat. Then the smoke guns go off and they yell ‘See You’. Silly question, I know.

At this point they had already on stage for 60+minutes!! Can you tell? A Japanese journalist declared them the "Most Famous Japanese High Students in the World!!!" They are an accident(?!?). Put together by producer Key Kobayashi as the Heavy Metal club within Sakura Gaukin a Jpop group formed by the Amuse Agency. Key was a Metal music fan and thought of a metal group fronted by Jpop singer(s). What he did not factor in was the level of talent he got along with charisma off the charts!! They international breakout was the 2014 Sonisphere Metal Music festival, in 30 minutes they conquered the British metal music world and confounded the metal music press!!! Some press were scared of them. An Unhelpful Guide to Babymetal - This is about the best video on Babymetal, 40 minutes long - Link -- kzread.info/dash/bejne/d22stMuIcqqeYto.html Have fun!! "How do they become so popular?" Short answer? They are awesome. Long answer? It's complicated and fascinating, it would well deserve a movie. They started really, really young as part of an idol group, Sakura Gakuin, though the lead singer Suzuka Nakamoto had already been part of another Idol project. One of the producers working with them, Key Kobayashi had a vision and pursued it successfully, but it wasn't easy at all. For example, their choreographer, Mikiko Mizuno, had to invent their dancing style basically from scratch, as no one really had ever danced on this kind of music before. Their first costumes were improvised, they literally borrowed them. You can find their very first show on their own, not as part of SG, it's called "LEGEND - Corset Festival". They went from few hundreds people to thousands in just a couple of years. 🤘🦊⚡

Excellent reaction, loving your enthusiasm and appreciation of all things BABYMETAL. This video was from February 1, 2015 at the Tokyo Dome Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15. That was over 55,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age, Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits). This was also the end of a 90-minute concert and yes, they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, I'm not sure the translation really works so well to convey what it is really about, but it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc." that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc. to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well-trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. Oh, by the way, Suzuka is shouting "We are..." and the crowd responds, "Babymetal" at the end.

They started in 2010 as a sub unit of an idol group called Sakura Gakuin that was for girls aged 10-15. It was not until 2013 that they split off from SG due to Suzukas graduation and their rising popularity. If you would like to know more about their history there is a wonderful “Guide to Babymetal” by CrypticMisery but be aware that there will be spoilers in it of things and songs that you haven’t seen yet. It provides a lot of background information and details about Babymetal, their lore, and of course the Kami band (the musicians supporting Babymetal). At the end the say “We are” and the crowd responds with “Babymetal” 😂 🤘🔥🦊

I was lucky enough to be in the audience for this. My first trip to Japan. Plus in the UK a few months earlier when this song was played for the first time. Babymetal's story is a long one and I wont add to the massive amount of info already provided about their history. One track worth considering is Headbanger which in itself is over ten years years old and a crowd favourite. A tradition the band developed was to allow Moa (and Yui who has since left) to pick up lead vocals in live shows on this track, on, or around their Birthdays. You can find a fairly recent Moa version of Headbanger in 4K on You Tube and it's well worth a watch. Great to see the crowd ''lose it'' when Moa gets the mic. The other group I cannot recommend enough is the well beyond awesome musical talent of Japanese heavy rockers Band Maid. Oh, one other thing. Turn up your volume levels. Thanks and nice reactions.

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 BABYMETAL is now going on tour in Europe as a special guest to Sabaton, a famous Swedish metal band. Unfortunately Italy is not included in the countries where they go this time, but they held an concert in Bologna on June 5, 2015, five months after this performance. 😄 The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. In your video, Su shouted some words at 09:13 in your video meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then. The girls have grown up into beautiful ladies now and performed this anthemic song in recent shows in Japan and Europe. The maturity has added more attractiveness to this band. Please react to their videos including recent ones to explore BM more. "We are" "BABYMETAL" "See you!"

So the girls came from a singing/acting school called Sakura Gakuin. It is a school separate from their regular schooling and teaches the girls in the class how to become singers or actors or whatever in the entertainment industry they are working towards. Anyhow, Su-Metal (the main singer) was originally working towards becoming a JPop idol, and indeed was in a JPop band called Karen girls at one point. One of the instructors heard her singing. He was/is a huge metal fan and had thought that for a few years now that the metal scene in Japan had become very stagnant. When he heard Su's vocals he felt her voice was too powerful for JPop. He asked her to join him and he created an experiment all centered of Su and her vocals. So he integrated metal music with her powerful voice and then found Yui and Moa from the same school. He felt they were perfect to combine with Su as they looked like they could be sisters or even twin sisters and they were very cute. He brought his idea to the school head. They thought he was crazy that such a creation of JPop-Metal would never work, but they were open enough to allow him to try out his idea. So he did just that. They found some clothing from various places (some from their own wardrobe at home, others from various teachers), and then he introduced the girls to metal. They had never heard of metal music before. Initially they were very scared and shocked by it. However, eventually they came to not only appreciate it, but even enjoy it. Their first song was entitled Doki, Doki Morning. You can even react to it if you look for it on KZread. They have it there, just look for the earliest upload, the girls will looks like they are 12. Mostly because they were 12 lol Su was 14, and Moa and Yui were 12 at the time. Anyhow, Doki doki did very well, and they even managed to get the opportunity to perform in some malls, and some clubs and places like that. Small venue type areas. They started to grow in popularity. They were able to procure some funds for better outfits. They created their next song, Gimmie Chocolate (I think that was the next song anyhow, it was one of the first at any rate). That song EXPLODED on KZread. Eventually they became popular enough that they were able to perform in actual arena's and stadiums. Su was 15 at this point now and was graduating from Sakura Gakuin. Moa and Yui were still attending their classes there while still going to regular school AND performing for Babymetal (very busy life). Amuse (the record label that owns the Babymetal brand) decided to continue the Babymetal brand as it was exploding in popularity and so the Babymetal branch of Sakura Gakuin broke away from Sakura Gakuin and became their own entity. That being said, I don't think they told the girls that they would be continuing on after Su graduated as you can see Moa crying near the end of what they thought was their last concert together. Babymetal continued increasing in popularity in Japan and eventually was even invited to perform in the UK at Sonisphere on one of the side-stages. They agreed as they thought the international exposure would be good for them and the brand. Close to the date of the concert one of the bands performing on the main stage had to back out for one reason or another. Due to the explosion of popularity of Gimmie chocolate on YouTude somebody decided to throw Babymetal onto the main stage in place of the band that had to back out. The girls were very nervous as they had heard that the crown at sonisphere are VERY harsh towards bands the crowd deems unworthy, often throwing bottles of Urine and other things at the band they don't like. However, Babymetal is nothing if not gutsy, so up they went. The crowd not only ended up enjoying the performance, but Babymetal ended up selling more merchandise than any other band performing that year. Their success at Sonisphere is what is today considered what got them popular worldwide, outside of Japan. That is pretty much the history of Babymetal in how they became what they are today. I might have slight mistakes here and there in the story, but it's pretty close. I have a horrible memory, but Jake Muller, or Grington300 300 will correct any mistakes I made. They're the Babymetal walking encyclopedia's. I'm still a student lol. On and the "starlights" you were referring to are called spotlights. I think thats what you were talking about anyhow. Nice reaction! Hope to see more soon!

Good Job.🦊Just a couple of details - Sakura Gakuin was a school themed JPop Idol group rather than an acting school - but Amuse did use it to teach and coach the girls in all aspects of the entertainment industry, so the difference is academic (pun intended😏). They had a few songs before 'Gimme Chocolate' (Doki Doki Morning was first as you said - recorded Oct 2010 when Su was 12, Yui and Moa were 11, the video was made nearly a year later). 'Iine' was the second song they released, but they were already performing 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai'. Headbanger', and 'Uki Uki Midnight' and 'Megitsune' were all before 'Gimme Chocolate' too (possibly others, I'm bound to forget the correct order of release) - that video was recorded at Legend 1997 in December 2013 and was on the album with all the other songs. I think the girls knew they would be continuing with BABYMETAL, but Moa and Yui were still heartbroken that Su would no longer be in SG with them as well. They had a couple of months notice of the change from side stage to main stage at Sonisphere - nobody dropped out last minute, it was that BABYMETAL had gone viral with 'Gimme Chocolate' and were attracting attention, their concert in London scheduled for a couple of days later had also sold out so fast it was moved to a bigger venue and there may have also been a fan led campaign (but I think that was to get them invited in the first place rather than moved to the main stage).

@@jeremyboynowski3784 Yes, that has been repeated many times, but nobody knows where it originated - it is the romanticised urban myth version (I'm sure I thought it was true as well after seeing it said more than once or twice and I probably repeated it myself before I was given the real story of what happened and when etc). It isn't entirely inaccurate. The 'Gimme Chocolate' video going viral did play some part in their booking being changed - but there is no record of anybody dropping out and leaving a spot to be filled (certainly not as far as I am aware at least).

I just wish it had been a longer set - while also wondering how they had the energy to keep active for as long as they did! To see how Su's voice (and to an extent Moa's) have matured you might like to try something different: their acoustic cover of Monochrome on the channel The First Take. Even better would be a double of the lyric video and the piano version.

0 秒前 Their path has been a Road Of Resistance itself, encountered by a lot of hate speeches from the traditional metal fans, and they have just kept doing it to make us happy like this in this video. The main vocalist Su-metal has been saying don’t think it but just feel it. Yes, that is the most fair mindset to appreciate music coming from the global scenes. The song of “The One” is the tribute to the fans who have been continuously supporting them. Musically also, it is worth while listening the live version. They do not rely on back tracking. That is one of the evidences of good bands. I love your pure and sincere reaction!

Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey.🦊🤘🔥 I think this a great follow up since your first reaction to Gimme Chocolate!! and I'm glad to see you around in this moment, yesterday they released a new version of "The One" at The First Take channel, and later they started the Sabaton's Europe Tour performing at Leeds, UK. This month and the next one will get tons of these live concerts retuning to stage outside of Japan and this song is a must in their setlist. _Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, and is all about facing your own path without looking back. The wall of death is nuts just like you noticed when dividing the crowd, is also called "mosh'sh pit" just like you saw at the end of Gimme Chocolate!!, different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride. This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015 series of concerts, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, is the last song of the encore they performed and finishing the show. By this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment. With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages. The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males. BM fans love some members of this band but none of them are official members of this group not even permanent, they only play live, so when you heard album tracks remember they aren't playing there. In this case they are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar or golden in other moments. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japanese music scene. At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too. If you like this type of metal genre then you're gonna love another previous song from first album called *"Ijime Dame Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 and witness a precious and epic moment on their career. You can find that clip in the official channel but just be careful coz sometimes is getting blocked issues. Another suggestion safe to react is: - _Headbanger!!_ live at Legend 1997 held in 2013, you can find a clip safe to react at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title. Thanks for sharing this and hopefully this won't be blocked See you next time and kitsune up! 🦊🤘❤️

Great reaction. Regarding glow sticks: there were lots of them until around 2014, but since in Japan glow sticks are more used in the pop-Kawaii idol fans, they became scarce around 2015 (when this show was taken) and after 2016, you will see very little of them due to increased metal fan participation. However, in recent concerts for "Monochrome" Su (lead singer) asks crown to turn on phone lights. I did at their January concert, and it was beautiful... but still no glosw sticks.

Babymetal was originally formed in 2010 as a subgroup of an idol group called Sakura Gakuin, which was modelled after school life. The producer Kei Kobayashi had thought the metal scene needed a jolt of youth into it, so he set out to create the group. The company, Amuse, didn't really see prospects in it outside of a small side project within Sakura Gakuin, so early on they went to small venues, and Koba paid everything out of pocket. They couldn't even afford a live backing band at the time, and only got one in late 2012 which played with them on specific events until 2014 when it consistently was with them at live events. It was through online word of mouth that the group got traction when in March of 2012 they official released a collaboration CD single with a band called Akiba of Akiba which included Babymetal's first song Doki Doki Morning, and Akiba's Kimi to Anime Ga Mitai, and they played a cover of each others song. It hit #3 on Japan's Oricon weekly indie chart, and #1 on Japan's Tower Records Shibuya weekly indie chart. Then in the summer of that year they followed up with a new music video of their single Headbanger!, and finally that year they youngest performer to ever play at the Japanese rock festival Summer Sonic Festival. In January 2013 they released with a major record label releasing Ijime, Dame, Zettai, and then later Megitsune, and again performed at Summer Sonic Festival that year, and they again became the youngest performer to ever perform at the Japanese heavy metal music festival Loud Park in October. They just kept growing from word of mouth online and from the performances. Then in February 2014, they released their self-titled album which debuted #4 in Japan on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart, #2 on Billboard Japan, topped iTunes Metal charts in in Germany, UK and US, and got into the US Billboard 200 chart at 187. They then followed that with having two concert in the famous Budokan arena in Japan, being the youngest female act to perform there. That led up to their first world tour in 2014, where they really had their break out onto the world stage with a fan driven campaign to get them to play at the Sonisphere Festival in the United Kingdom, for which they got a formal invite. They were originally scheduled to play one of the small stages, but after the online buzz of them playing there, they were moved up to the largest stage. The videos of them playing there are still on KZread. Everyone has memories when it comes to bands and music, but this is one that is really burned into my mind because it was so surreal to see them reach this height. They are on their fourth studio album now, and doing their largest world tour they've ever done, including supporting Sabaton in Europe. They've come a long way, and there were so many ups and downs as disasters hit them such as losing one of their members due to health reasons, and one of their guitarists dying, but they just kept going and reaching new heights. These types of reactions have been crucial in their growth, so we all appreciate when people are willing to spend some of their time diving into their discography.

This is a good song. It has a strong Dragonforce vibe because Herman and Sam from Dragonforce helped with the writing for this song.

BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were only 11 when the group began. All three were friends and classmates who attended an idol school (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life the girls would learn and train to be idols and graduate at age 15 to move onto whatever entertainment path they chose. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues) and Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). Suggest reacting to BabyMetal LIVE as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.) Suggest reacting to these for a start. Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls. Road of Resistance LIVE in Japan Megitsune LIVE Headbanger LIVE Catch Me If You Can LIVE with Kami Band intro At their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019) has officially become the third member. Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles. Good luck and hope to see you again.

I’m not a particular fan of heavy metal music. In fact I’d say I am indifferent to it. BABYMETAL are special. They are different….I love them…..which I guess is the point of them….like I said, they are special. Very special.

Suggest a couple more for a start: Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls. (Should be safe from blocking or copyright). Megitsune LIVE Until next time.
