In thinking about it, I might have to agree. It has a much more mature feel to it, it has the right sounds to be released here in the States. I'm still iffy on best, but I'm trying to think of the rest of the album and at the moment nothing else comes to mind that can beat it.

The producer, KOBAMETAL, said in an interview that this song is an homage to so-called "city pop", a genre of Japanese pop music in late 1970's - early 1980's, and that was discovered by music lovers in Western world quite recently. It is interesting that they combined "city pop" with contemporary jazzy prog metal like Polyphia and Animals as Leaders.

Makes sense, reminds me of some 80s animes. 80s animes also sometimes used pretty heavy Jazz like cowboy bebop.

This song quickly became one of my most favorites. The studio version is Polyphia playing, but live is definitely the Kami band. You can tell the difference side by side. It's totally left field for Babymetal but it's so soooo good.

Polyphia's Tim Henson said in an interview about this collab, that he was initially sent some kind of general template for the song. He (and Scott LePage) then tweak the whole guitar part from raw template to make it Polyphia-esque. I think they did a great job. The song sounds good, kinda felt groovy pop-prog, and yes I agree, very Polyphia :)

This song feels like a metalhead's idealized memory of a 90s pop ballad to me, and I mean that in a 100% positive way. I don't think you've heard many tracks from Metal Galaxy yet, but her vocals are more mature across the board on that album, and in the live performances for that tour. You've already listened to Starlight, why not continue with the "trilogy of light" by listening to Shine next?

💕 ⚡ / 🌅 That was the world premiere, and still the only time 'Brand New Day' has been performed live. The concert was LEGEND - METAL GALAXY, on January 25th, 2020 at Makuhari Messe, Japan I. I's great that they've moving forward and exploring what their "more adult kawaii" sound will be. One of the things I like the most about BABYMETAL, is that they are always pushing forward instead of just trying to recreate what they've already done.

One of the songs off the new album that made me go from "huh?" to blasting it every morning on my way to work. -Love the instrumentals, made me check out Polyphia (also big up to the Kami band for playing it so well) -Even though it may not be about love, I feel like this is their first journey into a love type song. Maybe a love song for music? -the visuals of that live performance, wow If you want another different kind of feel from Babymetal check out Kagerou (with the Western Kami solo intro). I wanna say it sounds sexy? Probably get flack for that one, but yeah that song sounds sexy to me lol . Or maybe sassy is a better word.

This colab with the guys from Polyphia turned out to be pretty great. It's one of the more pop oriented songs, but it, still very nice and went with the "Light Force" theme they were going for. On the second half of the record (and second day of the Legend Metal Galaxy shows), they went with the "Dark Force" metal oriented and heavier sound, and it was just glorious. Whenever you can, check out the rest of the trilogy of lights (you already did Starlight IIRC). Shine and Arkadia live are amazing.

  • @ANDOR-

This is the perfect chill out song in my eyes. The performance was from Legend Metal Galaxy Day 1 in January. It's the only time so far they performed it live in a pro-shot concert (thanks COVID). I'd say all the tracks out of the Metal Galaxy laboratorium... eh sorry, I meant album, sound way more mature than on the first two albums. There are also no "chants" from Moa, almost all of her vocal parts on the album are harmonies. You should check out Shine and Arkadia (the KZread channel Zimmer official has probably the best compilations of these songs if you want to stay on KZread with it) to complete the Trilogy of Light you started by listening to Starlight ;)

This song is more like Polyphia song powered with Su's vocal, i don't know much about this song history, but Tim said to Herman Li in one of DragonForce live streaming that he sent the guitar sample once and the BabyMetal team accepted it instantly. Normally BABYMETAL fans want to see the girls' clear movement on stage and, of course, their cute facial expressions. But in this song we could see their silhouettes only .... and that was enough. Kami's paly was full of dignity, figures of Moa & Riho were elegant and Su's voice was exquisite. I felt like standing in front of a beautiful painting which absorbs my attention. I am proud of being one of audiences who had a chance to witness this world premiere of this song.

Hey guys, just wanted to say that the thought bubble pop-ups are actually a _brilliant_ idea for these kinds of reaction videos. Especially for Babymetal fans (but I imagine fans of other bands you react to as well), any time anyone makes an even-slightly mistaken statement about something, there's gonna be a bunch of people just itching to make a (usually polite, at least!) comment correcting it. But when you put up those thought bubbles, calling out your own fluffs immediately, it makes such viewers breathe a sigh of relief ("Ah, I don't have to comment to correct them! Sweet!") and actually have a lot more respect for you in the long run ("Hey, those guys took the time to check up on their facts, and even corrected them 'live' during the video. They're seriously dedicated, man!"), and maybe even start to consider you as 'one of us' ("They represented my fav band accurately; that's awesome! Shows respect. Hey, that means they respect my fav band! *One of us! One of us!"* ), which is a little ironic, because Babymetal refers to fans of Babymetal (together with everyone involved with Babymetal, including the girls themselves, inclusively) as "The One". In fact, they have a song called _The One_ which you should definitely react to. If you do, ideally you would react to it together with its companion song _Tales of the Destinies,_ which is actually probably the most awesomely amazing of songs (even though technically it's the prequel-half of the duo, compared to the 'more popular' song The One). And, ideally, you would react to the (only?) live performance of Tales of the Destinies, which has the most incredible (many previously thought 'impossible') choreography EVAR! (Which, once you hear the song, you'll understand why people thought making choreo for it would be impossible.) And, I think that performance was in their Tokyo Dome 2-night performance, which was freaking amazing all around. Anyway, *IF* you can track down a video of the two songs together from that live performance, that would be an awesome thing to react to. Even if, perhaps, you split the two parts of the reaction into two videos, if that works better for your channel. (Or maybe just go for the full double-reaction in a single video, I dunno...) Anyway, TL;DR: - Thought bubbles: genius! - You are probably already part of The One; yay! welcome! _One of us! One of us!_ - You 'should' (i.e. you will definitely be blown away if you do) react to the song _The One_ -- If you have to react to it individually, probably best is their official video version of it, which was pre- the second album, i.e. pre- Tales of the Destinies, but it's a good video of it, so probably good bet. -- Or, even better (way better), react to The One as it was meant to be experienced, as part of a longer composition, now two distinct songs, with the first song being the incredible _Tales of the Destinies_ --- And the best way to do that, if you can find the right source video(s), would be to react to the (only?) live performance of Tales, which I think was the Tokyo Dome 2 nights event. Followed by The One, of course. ----- But that might not be possible/feasible, so at least react to The One, so you can 'get' my whole reference to it. 😅 Cheers!

I don't know if this was the intention, but I see this song being about dealing with being sad or depressed; you have good days ("sunny day") and bad ("rainy day") but just take it step by step and don't dwell on the past because each day is a brand new day. A lot of Metal Galaxy songs have the theme of loss and moving forward (considering the events of 2018, it makes sense).

This is easily one of babymetals best tracks, it’s so tight!!!! The vocals are absolutely sick and it almost bleeds into melodic dubstep style rhythm. And the use of silence combined with the grounding click just makes this whole song sound so much more huge when the chorus slams in. Loved y’alls reaction to this!

I absolutely LOVE this song. It's not a good Babymetal song, it is just a pure brilliant song whoever would perform it. Polyphia's addition lifts it to another level. Kami band is amazing, but there are few people who can play stuff like that better than Tim Henson and Scott LePage. You have to listen to the album version! If you by some weird reason haven't heard Polyphias GOAT you need to watch it. Tim Henson has said that it is written to flex a little bit. When Tim Henson flexes on guitar you know it's going to be great

Which is crazy, 'cuz I didn't even know there was a live version of this song. Cool! This is an awesome song (all BM songs are awesome, to be totally honest. 😅). I love it, it helps me through tough days, and gives me hope. Which reminds me, although they finally had to break up, you should check out the group Ladybaby, but *especially* their last few songs/videos. Just before they broke up, they started getting really, *really* good, close to Babymetal level. (Their early stuff with Ladybeard was cool just for the craziness of it, but musically it didn't catch me; after some band membership craziness, they finally settled on a four-girl line up that was freaking amazing. Damn I wish they didn't have to break up... 😥 But at least their last songs are amazing, and they are all talented, so they should all go on to do their own great things... Which gives me hope! Just like _Brand New Day_ does!)

The reason she sounds more mature is because she is. This is the first non studio modern song you reacted to. The audio is from a show this year. On Spotify they gave the live album from that show and I recommend Ijame Dame Zettai. If you compare that version to the sonic sphere it’s easy to see her growth

Studio production is better, IMO. Clearer guitars, better effects, fuller sound. Plus it is sat in a great spot on the Japanese edition of the album that prevents it from sounding out of place. Best track on METAL GALAXY for me. Polyphia were given a rough guide track and the freedom to twiddle as much as they liked around it. Their restraint is quite tasteful. There are so many fresh sounds on METAL GALAXY.

This song was the one on Metal Galaxy that when I first heard made be like...wow, Su is definitely all grown up. The album as a whole highlights her vocal growth as really the key element to the entire album ..in some ways the the detriment because I feel like Moa and the Kamis take a bit too much of a back seat at times but then songs like this are great because of what Su can do now as a singer, so its definitely the type of song that couldn't have been done as well by them in the past.

You can never go wrong with the live version of BM. Not just because they are just flat out an amazing live band, but the studio versions are pretty inconsistent when it comes to production since the kamis are not always recording and they use a decent amount of sampling and more than one writer, mixer, and producer. So yeah...live is the best. Plus some of the cool intros and transitions or extended sections of certain songs are only done live, so sometimes they are actually superior versions compared to the studio version because a lot of the studio songs are written over the course of many months or even years and the version that finally makes it to a live show is often the "ultimate form" so to speak, even over the studio version because the studio version may have been recorded/written a long time ago.
