In this video I introduce my 10 month old baby to swimming lessons. I have started teaching her how to swim since she was 4 months old and we have been practicing some water skills in the bath every night. Baby swimming lessons don’t necessarily have to take place in a swimming pool, a bath is just as good. Some of the benefit of teaching your baby to swim in the bath are that you are able to practice each day, and you are also able to keep the water nice and warm for them. It is also a relaxing environment where you can bond without any distractions. In this video we cover the basics that you need to get your little one started on their swim journey.
Teaching a baby to swim means breaking down the fundamental skills into bite size fun activities for them to take part in. Once they have mastered each skill you then build on this each week making it more challenging. Never force a baby to do any activity, the goal throughout heir time in the water is to keep them happy so that swimming is always a positive experience. Good social referencing lets your baby know that everything is okay. They take their cues from you so if they do swallow any water always use a calm voice and dont ever panic.
This lesson can be adapted for baby swimming lessons, swimming lessons for toddlers and swimming lessons for young children. Swimming lessons for beginners will help to build the core skills needed for their future swim journey when they learn to swim freestyle, learn how to swim underwater, learn to swim faster and everything in between.
