Baby sea turtles guided from beach to ocean after Florida officers rescue

In St. Pete Beach, Florida, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a hotel after a security guard called to see the building was overrun with hatchlings. A Sergeant and pair of deputies responded to find the baby turtles “all over the area, including in the hotel’s pool, in the bushes, in the bathroom, and even in the storm drain.”
Bodycam footage from the Sheriff’s Office shows the officers guiding the baby turtles to the ocean.

Wouldn't it be much better to keep them safe in a pool to allow them to grow a bit larger?. In this way, it could be harder for them to become prey to fish and other sea animals.

"safe in a pool to allow them to grow"? haha...pretty sure the officers dont have that kinda time. Just helping the little guys a bit, was a nice enough gesture.

I think that would disturb their memory. They have to remember where they walked into the sea as a little turtle - for coming back later to lay eggs. Maybe that doesn't work if they got too old.

Those cute creatures are in foodchain. Now seagulls and other predators were left without turtle dinner. Yes it is cute to meddle in nature affairs but not necessarily right thing on the long run.
