While flying into Hurricane Ian hours before it made landfall in Cayo Costa, Florida, those onboard NOAA's Hurricane Hunters flight to collect data on the storm endured a bumpy ride.
Engineer Nick Underwood called the flight the roughest of his career on Twitter.
"I have never felt such lateral motion," Underwood tweeted.
