In Sweden we take out Christmas 20 days after Christmas eve. Yes we celebrate Christmas 24:th of december. So 20 days after 24:th we dance the Christmas and Christmas tree out. We put some candy i the tree or have "fiskdamm" (fishpond), so a person stands hidden behind a big pice of fabric and let the kids "go fish" with a fishingpole and than the catch is a bag with candy and sometimes it is also some fruit and small toys. So when we finished the dance around the tree, we start to undress the tree and put the ornaments away until next year. That's the swedish way and the day is called: 20 dag Knut (20 day of Knut).

I put up my tree when my sister, brother-in-law & nieces are over from Texas, so either mid-November to early December. That way my nieces & nephew get to help put the ornaments on the tree together. Then I leave it up until 5th or 6th January, since 5th January is the 12th day of Christmas.
