Baby panda Fubao is more than a superstar in Korea.
The three-year-old female panda, which is often called “Princess Fu,” attracts thousands of visitors to her home “Panda World” in Everland -- Korea’s largest theme park located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province -- every day. The total number of visitors has doubled since the beginning of May, according to Everland.
Its official KZread channel has recently garnered more than 1 million subscribers thank to the popularity of the videos featuring the baby panda. Fubao’s photo essay book published in 2021 has sold 24,000 copies to date and the panda-related goods such as dolls and bags are flying off the shelves, boosting Everland’s sales.
