Two sets of baby javelinas and a whole crew of supervisors in my backyard last night.

This is a family of wild javelinas and, believe it or not, this group is being more cautious than some I've seen (I think they're being protective of the babies). Sometimes they fear people, especially those walking dogs, but they aren't very skittish. I've heard that they don't run because they can't see very well, but I'm not sure about that. They usually see me before I see them. The other day I was walking down the street and one bolted out from behind a bush and scared the bejeezus out of me. They can be very dangerous, though, so you never want to feed them or get too close (I'm filming from behind a wall where they can't get me). They have huge tusks and they will defend their family and protect their food. They seem to know when it's garbage day in my neighborhood; they love to knock over my trashcan and feast in the middle of the street. It's pretty much pointless to try to chase them away, especially when they hit the jackpot with a bin full of Thanksgiving leftovers. :)
