And even more awesome, future generations create a hippo/rhino pack that protect each other from danger from land and water.

Honestly, my favorite part is that the rescuers allowed them to be kids first, then taught them to be what they are second. It is a very human approach, but also, kind of beautiful at the same time.

100% agreed. I go here often to get away from the narcissism of society. It shows just how much the natural world brings out the best in humanity, IF we embrace & protect it, instead of exploiting it for something as stupid as money.

Okay, those shots where Charlie and Moomin's eyes are closed, enjoying the water is one of the most adorable and heartwarming things I've seen

rhinos are one of my most favorite animals and it kills me knowing that their numbers just keep dwindling and dwindling due to poachers. I can only hope that whatever interventions are being done is enough to keep them from extinction. This story was so sweet and adorable 🤗♥️

The only solution to ending poaching lies with their greedy and vain wealthy customers who are responsible for poaching to begin with. These poachers are not well off like their customers and have chosen a bad life for at least sympathizable reasons. However, many of their customers relish in the idea that a hard sacrifice was made for their sake as a way to fulfill their vanity. These people are the real problem. There is no excuse to defend their wilfully harmful extravagance. Imagine losing rhinos to extinction because some insensitive people can have bragging rights about how "precious" what they have is.

You would be surprised how fast a Hippo can run when angry. African park rangers have only one rule when face to face with a Hippo: Run away as fast as you can and pray it doesn't trample you.

Their eyes are so expressive and I hope they live long, healthy and happy together.

When the hippo closed it eyes and smiled while getting the water sprayed on him was so damn cute🥺

The dodo makes the most wholesome happy animal stories I smile ear to ear the while watching any of their videos. Seriously grateful for this channel.

Usually, Hippos are really territorial. I am loving that the Rhino and the Hippos are friends and that they are friendly with humans. I wish I could be there to meet them.

Without killing them, eating them, hurting them, human existence have driven rest of the species to be extinct except the dogs and cats which humans decided to populate as much as humans. And factory farming animals for food consumption. Study what we are doing to them. You cut trees to build your home and there are 8 billions now who are doing the same thing. What do you think we are doing? Just breathing air? We take their food sources, water, territories and everything.

Confutious, do you read your comments before you post them? There are 10 things wrong in that last one. Yes, CERTAIN humans are poaching and destroying wildlands, and that needs to be addressed. And so many more are doing what they can to help creatures such as this. You make it seem like all humans, of which you are one, are out to destroy the world and everything in it. And then make it seem like it's wrong to build a house out of wood. We are the caretakers of this world, which does not mean we should run and hide from it. Living in a cave so that we'll never cut down a tree again is not the enlightened path of the most intelligent being on this planet. Certain humans are the problem, not all humans.

It’s extremely interesting to me because, naturally, they dont exactly like each other, rhinos tend to charge at them thinking they are challengers. This turns the whole order upside down and creates something alive and new, and it’s beautiful

Their biggest threat isn't trophy hunting, it's the demand for their horns in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which doesn't even have any scientific evidence supporting it! It will be a great tragedy when they go extinct, and a dark spot on humanity.

Trophy hunters aren't the problem, it's poachers. Trophy hunters pay thousands to hunt specific rhinos that are interfering with the likelihood of the species surviving long term. Poachers just kill for money. Hunters want to be able to keep hunting, so are huge conservationists, poachers don't care.

@@Funny-iq9bq Hippos kill more humans than any other non human animal. One of the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt was even killed by one. Wild Hippos are definitely meant to be left alone and go nowhere near or look at in the eyes. They look like giant pit bulls though lol so cute, and babies who grow up and are released into the wild sometimes come visit their rescuers from time to time, they form strong bonds.

As a Finnish American and a Hippopotamus (as well as Rhino) lover, I certainly appreciate the selection of "Moomin" as the name of Charlie's female companion. What a great pair of friends both she and Makhosi seem to have been for him! I hope they have all been/still are doing well now, as we approach 2023.
