"Baby Got Back:" Sir Mix-A-Lot with the Seattle Symphony
Музыка
The Seattle Symphony's critically acclaimed Sonic Evolution project creates a bridge between the Symphony and Seattle's storied reputation as launching pad for some of the most creative musicians on the popular music scene. Each year, in celebration of the past, present and future of our city's musical legacy, Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony commission world-class composers to write orchestral world premieres inspired by bands and artists that launched from, or are related to, Seattle.
In addition to writing a brand new composition inspired by Seattle's own Sir Mix-A-Lot, composer Gabriel Prokofiev also orchestrated two of the legendary rapper's most famous hits for this year's concert, including "Baby Got Back," for which Sir Mix-A-Lot joined Ludovic Morlot and the Orchestra on stage at Benaroya Hall.

The lady in black danced like she was waiting for this moment since 1992. Too cute.
You can tell that woman in the black dress has been waiting for this situation her entire life.
The girl in the black was like, "Shit, this is my moment."

The girl in the black dress was the best backup dancer ever! He needs to take her on tour!
That conductor is a BOSS!
the chick in the black dress went *INNNNN* And the composer wasn't so shabby either.
Them nerdy girls are the FREAKIEST of them all!!!
Such an amazing night. I'm in the striped dress. Grew up in Seattle on Mix-a-Lot and this night was pure awesome. He killed it. So did Pickwick who played as well!
The woman in black and the library glasses was the best. She was really into it.
I'll be honest that I never thought I'd see a symphony performing Baby Got Back. There goes my morning.
The sexiest thing about the woman in the black dress is how much fun she's having.
This was so funny! The girl in the black dress was getting her baby got back dance on! I loved seeing these girls just having a good time...no judgement, just good times.
Lady in the black dress and glasses killing it XD
Who is the chic in black. She is the definition of "Oh this my JAM!!!!!"
If you grew up in the 80's and the 90's you have no choice but to love this
The Seattle Symphony and.....Sir Mix A lot? Lawd have mercy.
Lmao... That chick in the black dress & eyeglasses looks like she's a librarian. Then when the music started.... Who woulda guessed?
My grandma was there, she said it was delightful.
honestly, i give huge props to the symphony for pullin that off
40 piece string sections....... Booty shaking baby boombers..... Old folks in Elegant dress...... And SIR MIX-ALOT. Ahh, my life is finally complete.
I maintain that orchestrating hip-hop music is the best way to get kids into the symphony hall. Peace.
That's Shawn Bounds dancing in the black dress! The girl's got skills. What a great time had by all and NO, Shawn was not a plant... just your average beautiful "Baby Got Back" Fan! Well done sister! LOVED IT!
I have no ass, but whenever this song comes on I rock it and pretend like I have BACK! Love you Sir MixA Lot! Mwha!
I'm loving the conductor ... especially at 5:22 :)
Man made millions just making women feel good about their body image! DO YOU GUYS GET THAT!?
The lead cellist in the shades, was killing the pizzicato.... I love a nice symphony, but LOVE fusion and merging musical genres. The symphony house will never be the same.
The lady in the black dress and glasses dancing in the front looks GORGEOUS!!!!
I swear that chica in the black dress has been waiting her ENTIRE life for this very moment. HA and I loved every part of it!
Congradulations Sir-Mix-A-Lot if anyone deserves such an honor it's this legendary rapper.
"Orchestral Movements from the Hood Night" I.Can't... :) Awesome!
Holy shit! I can't believe that many women would get up on stage in front of everyone for this. Go Seattle!
Whoever said symphony orchestra cannot do contemporary music like metal or hip hop, take a good look. I love this!!
Why is everyone so 'oh my gosh' over this? It's fun and adorable and if you were there you'd be singing it too.
I distinctly remember this song bringing out the wild side of many girls at my high school junior prom. It made a big impression on me.
My mother was dancing to this. This made my day.
By the way, don't be embarrassed for Seattle. We rock in so many ways including the Symphony, Grunge, and Coffee!
Well done!!! Loved it!!!! Props to babygirl In the black dress for doing her thing
This was AWESOME! Props to the orchestra and conductor for doing a great job with this song, to Sir-Mix-a-Lot for performing this song as well as when he first released it, and to all those awesome women dancing their hearts out!
Orchestrated rap and rock is always awesome!
This was AWESOME! The woman in the black dress is killing it!!!
This is the most epic symphony performance I've ever seen. I laughed the whole way through!
It's awesome to see that Sir-Mix-A-Lot still can get down after all these years.
This is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!! Great way to invite a more diverse audience to the symphony! GREAT JOB SEATTLE!! It's amazing how music bridges the divide! This was FANTASTIC!!!
Ya know.. I was real cranky this morning... til I saw this. It made my morning by far. Lol. That lady in the black dress was gettin it. This was fantastic, definitely made me smile and laugh.
Music knows no boundaries!!!!!
I had to watch this a few times to take it all in! I enjoyed watching Ludovic Morlot conduct this orchestra and man was he having fun. One of the violinists was bumpin' in her chair when she wasn't playing. I'm surprised by how many of the women know the words. This song is a song from the 80's haha.. Okay, a few are clearly women _from_ the 80's. .... just goes to show when something really fun comes along and the beat is just right, not to mention the content being so risque, it never loses its appeal. Some of the women were just downright hilarious to watch. Very fun.
The woman in the black dress around the intro of the song was really into it.
Greatest rap song ever recorded.
I need to go to the Symphony more. This is AWESOME. Baby got back!
These women were having fun. What is wrong with that? Loosen up people! If some people in the orchestra looked uncomfortable, it's okay. Have fun, smile, and laugh your ass off!
My FAVORITE symphonic "movement"!!!
I ❤️it!!!! That's great!!! Hands down to you Sir Mix A lot!!! & as for all the ladies.... I applaud you all! Especially home girl w/the black dress! She had it down pat! & worked it too! 😉😊
I loved it love the Lady in BLACK!
The genius of Sir Mix-A-Lot all over again.
The lady w/ the glasses and black dress has got it goin' on!
Am I the only one that apprecated Mix's work before this "hit"? His work with Kid Sensation. Seminar was his best!
Both these songs they did - what joyous fun! I would've loved to have been there! I did get to meet him in the spring of 1989; one of the nicest straight-up guys ever!
The chick in black does it for me. She knew the words too!! SO DAMN FUNNY!!!!
Oh my words cannot express how much fun it was just to watch! Seattle's got STYLE. Lots of love to all the people who know how to have fun (and even those who don't but wish they did) ♡ive
OMG, the woman who got snatched by her friend at 5:52...I was dying laughing, lol. I guess friends don't let friends back it up on Sir Mix-A-Lot, LMAO!!! She snatched the crap out of her, hahahaha!
One of the greats remains one of the greats. He still can get everyone in a massive building to sing his song. Brilliant.
The first thing I hoped to happen this morning is for a symphony to play a song that will get me going like a cup of coffee. Well here it goes.
I love it when the girl at 5:50 gets pulled back by her friends.....

Okay, how funky is the Seattle SYMPHONY? I loved this video.
This could quite possibly be the best video ever made! I've watched it five times straight and I still can't stop laughing!
That lady in the black dress was really getting into it lol
Now that is what I call classical music...
This makes me... so happy.
My childhood has meaning again. SWEET.
The lady with the glasses is a really classy lady that knows how to get down when she wants to. I'm absolutely jelly of whoever she's with right now.
LMAO BLACK DRESS GET THAT SHIT!!!!
Benaroya Hall will never be the same again.
Omg, Sir Mix-a-lot and the Seattle Symphony?! I love it and damn, woman in the black dress sure was having alot of fun that night, plant or not. I think no. :)
Nothing sexier than a bunch of girls shaking there gifts on stage to a classic like that one!!!!!! Black dress girl rocked that stage!!!!!!!!!!! Hooooowl
I love it!! Get the hate out of your heart and smile!! Its good for the soul!
Rap softly and carry an orchestra.
love sir mix-a-lot awesome symphony
The girl in the black dress at the front is awesome!
WOW! This shows how far Hip-Hop has come!!! Hate it or Love it, but you can't deny it!!!
mozart is turning in his grave....and twerking
THE GAL IN THE BLACK WAS THROWING DOWN!!! NICE!...:)
This gave me goosebumps. Well done, Sir.
That was the shit. No one cared how they looked
HA! "Orchestral movements from the hood night"
Seattle Symphony, I probably will never get to actually hear you play in person, but please add me to your donation list after this. You are awesome!
That Asian cellist is beautiful. The lady in the black is awesome.
I think thats my mom in the black dress. "face palm"
One of my all time favorite songs but with orchestral arrangement and of course audience participation--some people are just born to be exhibitionists...you know what I mean
Well that put a smile on my face.
What I find the most hilarious, is the one white girl in the more conservative dress, goes a LOT more wild AND knows all the Dance Moves to the song, than the black ladies!! Seattle Symphony & Six Mix-a-Lot you guys rocked that house and brought it down!! This was an awesome Nostalgia Trip, considering this is one of the few rap songs I will actually listen and love
He seems like a really cool guy.
Omg this put a smile on my face. .. Enjoy
Holy crap that one in the black dress is killing it xDDD
that was amazing lol, love it
Wow this was so cool and goes to show you music pulls us together no matter your color or class!
I reacted to this vid and you can see close-ups of the Baby Got Back Lady In Black! I so want to interview her.
