Baby Deer (fawn)

Baby deer on road scares us and mom hears her cry and come to its rescue. The fawn was almost being run over by cars, so we had to stop and do something. Leaving it on the side of road wasn'tan optionso we picked ot up and put it in the woods.‪@OpenAirAdventure‬

The mothers are usually not far. They leave the newborn deer safe somewhere and can then get some food while the baby sleeps. This fawn looks new-born and may have been born overnight when the road was quieter. Good on you to find out what to do. All worked out in the end. It's hard to not want to "rescue" them. I don't know how I would handle a situation like this. You did the right thing.

Picking up a baby deer will not cause the mother to reject the fawn. Picking up a baby deer could jeopardize its non-scent defense against predators, predators could possibly smell the human scent and give away the babies location. Baby deer have no scent and stay silent while mom looks for food. This situation gave us no choice but to move the fawn to a safer location. ❤

Well, I think getting the fawn off the road was the right decision. The likelihood of it getting struck by car is to high. So, I say good job. And then waiting to make sure momma dear was reunited with the fawn......👍👍 I know these types of situations can be tough to decide what's the right thing to do. But following your heart is always good and it ended well. Thanks for sharing

HAHA! A little excitement. That is how deer do things. They will "drop" the little one and come back for it later. The fawn is odourless at that age and by laying still in the grass predators can't smell them out. See ya next time✌

perfect outcome.....you did the wright thing. .so many times people, in general, find baby animals. fledging ,rabbits, etc. in there yard and pick them up and want to help them...leave them be or put back in their nest, their mother knows best . . then they take them to places like animals for hope, because it isn't easy caring for a wild animal, and this adds to there work load. Taking up valuable resources. Great video....side note if people want to help wildlife make a donation to your local wild life rescue facility....money, food or blankets are always welcome.

@htownpony8449 As a woman, not sure if you were trying to insult human moms but, every species has their good & bad, &/or "moment." And every woman experiences things a little differently than the last. That goes for men as well.. Maybe just a bad day for the woman you're referencing?

Hello sir what are the chances of survival of baby fawn ?? Because predators like wild dogs /Jackal/Hyenas/They always target on Babies

It's hard to predict survival rate. Different areas have different predators or more of them. Even human traffic can play a role.
