    Expensive but Baader stuff is high quality. These click-lock accessories hold everything from slipping, turning or falling out. I too feel it was a worthwhile investment.

    +John L Hello John. I have no experience with focal reducers ... yet! Celestron has not made one for my Edge 9.25. I can see where there would be a great advantage when imaging DSO with the SCT. The Fastar is another option (expensive) and would give us wide field imaging capability at f2.

    Hi, thanks for the great and useful review. I got the clicklock 2" adapter for my 8" Celestron and the diagonal as well after seeing this. What adapter did you use to connect the camera? I have a Nikon but my t ring and adapter don't fit the 2" opening of the clicklock

    +seattlevkk I bought from TelescopeAdapters.com. They have what they call 2" ultra wide Prime Focus Telescope Adapter which replaces the T-adapter. Also, I bought what they call VariMax Lens Projection gizmo which is a large adapter that will hold big eyepieces. This website has good adapters and I noticed the have them for Nikon.

    Hi Tim, I got an 8” se, the orange tube. As you suggested I got a Baader click clamp. I love it. I also screwed on a focus reducer, then screw on the click clamp. This works so well. Thank you very much. I am looking for a similar adapter for my refractor. No luck yet. Do you know any baader adapter for refractor l? Thank you.

    Hi nice review, was wondering about your barlow, I see it does not fit all the way, does it touch the prism any? thanks

  • @markm75
    @markm753 жыл бұрын

    Any reason why you couldnt take the 1.25" adapter that came with the original diag. and put it in the 2" click lock as a way to use 1.25" things such as barlows and still be able to pull it out and put 2" ones in? Guessing that would work fine, although i see baader sells a "click lock" style 1.25 reducer as well. I guess if using the original reducer you lose the click lock on the 1.25 barlows and eyepieces you put in.

  • @TimTools99

    @TimTools99

    3 жыл бұрын

    You certainly can do that. I do it all the time. Yes the clicklock feature is nice for heavy eyepieces and cameras but if you reduce down to 1.25, those are lighter eyepieces and so tightening the screw by hand will hold those. Good luck - have fun!

    Tim, I was inspired to purchase the same exact telescope OTA anyway and a Clicklock visual back, I have a question about the Clicklock. When I received mine I noticed that some of the threads were scraped a bit, where I could see some scratches in the metal/paint. Did you happen to inspect yours when you received it? Do you think this is the normal result of perhaps manufacturing testing. The Clicklock came in sealed white box with no instructions of any kind or documentation warranty card nothing. I'm just hoping this is normal if not I'm going to return it. Thanks

  • @TimTools99

    @TimTools99

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Markinpuff I don't believe that I had anything like that with mine. I would be tempted to return it. With the premium price they get for the Clicklock stuff, it should be pristine. When I got my Edge OTA, it was filthy dirty and I ended up returning it and they sent me a new one. I think these companies have some shoddy inspection procedures. They shouldn't ship out defective equipment when we are paying so much for this stuff.

    +Markinpuff Check your Edge OTA over carefully when you get it. Mine was an amazing dirty mess. The OTA had a scuzzy film all over the mirrors. The CGEM Mount had black crap all over the side of it that would not wipe off. I called Astronomics and told them about the problem. At first, the guy said a little dust is to be expected because the OTA's are "not assembled in a dust free environment." I told him I wasn't buying that explanation and that my dirty optics were beyond "a little dust." I sent him pictures and when he saw them, he said he would call Celestron. I let one week go by and when I had not heard from anyone, I called the dealer (Astronomics) again and it was not pretty. Celestron called me the next day. They said they would take everything back and would "hand-pick" an OTA and mount for me. I said, "You should have done that the first time!" Long story short: I don't accept the notion that these telescopes are mass produced and this sort of thing is to be expected. We are spending $$$ (Thousands)and there should be better quality control. A customer should never have to experience what I went through. Same with your Baader Clicklock. They should inspect them before they are shipped.

    Tim, I emailed Baader about my problem as well as the company that sold it to me. They both pretty much said the same thing. "It's to be expected and will not affect functionality? The good people at Baader we far less graces about it. He told me if I wanted perfect go buy something made in china and suffer the functionality issues. I agree with you regarding the QC these days, it’s almost enough to make you forget about the hobby. I’m going to post this whole story using full email replies from Baader and AgenaAstro, so everyone can see how arrogant they are. Note: AgenaAstro was far more understanding. I'm afaid what I'm going to find once the scope does come.

  • @TimTools99

    +Markinpuff Most likely, your scope will be fine. I can't believe that the problem I had was the norm. If it is, then Celestron would have a huge problem. The good thing about all of this is that you can return anything you buy now days. So, if you don't like what you see or the item is not what you expected, you can return it for a refund. I am happy with my Edge 9.25. The views are spectacular. Hang in there.

    +narehabako Yeah it's a pretty sweet setup for sure. I bought an Explore Scientific 2 inch eyepiece for my little Refractor and I loved the view so I decided to get set up for both 1.25 and 2 inch eyepieces. My 9.25 Edge SCT came with a 2" Diagonal. The 2" eyepieces can be expensive but they add to the enjoyment for sure.
