    Nice video and great job of clarifying the tightening sequence on the mounting post. When I installed mine last year, I didn't understand the instructions and did it wrong. No worries though, I quickly figured it out and am enjoying the hitch immensely. This is another example of B&W being aware of the consumer's needs and responding with a timely and useful video.

    Great job on the video. I had read reviews about this hitch and how you had to "disassemble" it prior to removal from the bed. Since I have a B&W gooseneck hitch and am considering purchasing the Companion, I didn't understand what they were talking about till I watched this video. I appreciate it.

    I bought this from a friend I spend forever trying to look how to bolt this in then I happen to buy a used truck a few years later with the gooseneck part then come to find out the 5th wheel goes to it but I had to build the part that connects to the 5th wheeler into the gooseneck part and not I love this one a lot so easy to work with and almost sold it lol

    Can you elaborate more on the physical connection between the hitch and the bed. You removed the ball from the gooseneck hitch, but you didn't show how the two are coupled.

    I currently have a Uni Goose hitch which has a removable ball but uses a slide coupler similar to a Air line quick coupler only a lot larger. I think I can machine a special pin to fit my hitch that yours could torque and u-bolt clamp to. Are you familiar with the hitch I have, there were / are made in southern Indiana by a small company. Maybe you offer and adapter from their Goose hitch to your 5th wheel. Would it be acceptable to have a thin sheet of belting between the metal bed and metal mount to protect my bed paint ?

    The Companion works with the Turnoverball, not with the 4" offset ball. The 4" offset ball is designed to go into the Turnoverball also. If you have our 4" offset ball and are using it in your truck bed, chances are you have a Turnoverball below the bed. Please feel free to give us a call and we can help you identify what you do or don't have. 800.248.6564

  • @BWTrailerHitches

    @BWTrailerHitches

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes! The Companion is offered with different base designs depending on the hitch mounting system used on your truck. Our OEM Companion is specifically designed to work with the OEM fifth wheel hitch prep packages/puck systems. You can find the right model for your GMC truck by visiting our website at the link below: bwtrailerhitches.com/product/companion-oem If you already have a single-point Companion model (this base will work with a B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch mounting system), you will need to just swap out the base on your current hitch to a GMC OEM Companion base. The coupler will be the same across all Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch models. To inquire about price and to order a replacement base, please reach out to us at: 800.248.6564 (M-F, 8am-5pm cst)

    Do you have a repair to make the rollers roll instead of telling people to live the slides so the rollers slide on the rails since they don’t roll for more than a few times. Quite unhappy with both the turnover ball and the companion slider.

    Hi Jeff, sorry for the inconvenience. We actually have a more recent video that discusses the installation of the plastic foot pads. You can find it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g2WOx5aefbXAo7A.html Whether the footpads are installed with the wide side or the narrow side down will depend on the width of your truck bed's corrugations. The footpads should sit between the corrugations with little to no movement.

    @@BWTrailerHitches can I run the B&W turnoverball with the 20k B&W goosneck to 5th wheel campanion hitch to pull a 5th wheel in a ram 2500 with ramboxes?

  • @BWTrailerHitches

    @BWTrailerHitches

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@tintdr We've checked with our installation specialists and we're sorry to say that due to the extra space taken up by the Ramboxes on either side of the truck bed, the B&W Turnoverball with the 20k Companion hitch would also not work. We're very sorry for the inconvenience. The Ramboxes create a bit of a unique issue and, understanding the situation a bit better, we do agree that you would need a turning point pin box on the fifth wheel, such as the Reese Sidewinder or Reese Revolution, to prevent the fifth wheel from making contact with the sides of the truck bed. The reason the B&W Turnoverball and 20k Companion are not compatible with a turning point pin box has to do with the the excess torque on the single connection point and its inability to withstand this. Our fifth wheel hitches that would be compatible with a turning point pin box would be a rail mounted kit and either a B&W 16k / 18k Patriot hitch (just not the Patriot Slider model). www.bwtrailerhitches.com/rail-mounted-attachment Or, the only other option might be the Companion for Ram Pucks. However, the Ram OEM puck system would need to be installed in the truck. www.bwtrailerhitches.com/product/companion-fifth-wheel-hitch-ram-pucks

    Did he just install a non-slide hitch in a short bed?

  • @BWTrailerHitches

    @BWTrailerHitches

    2 жыл бұрын

    He did. Many customers are able to use a non-slider in their short bed truck. There are several factors to consider when addressing the issue of cab clearance. To answer the question for you specific truck and trailer, pay attention to the following: 1. Pin Box Location - Is the Kingpin even with the front of the trailer, or is it recessed behind the front of the trailer? Some 5th wheel manufacturer's have compensated for the prevalence of shortbed trucks by building extended kingpin boxes. 2. Type of trailer and shape. Narrower trailers allow a tighter turning radius. Trailers that are built with rounded corners accommodate more cab clearance than squared corners. 3. Finally, the type of maneuvering that will be required while towing. Do you anticipate lots of sharp turns while towing, or is it only highway driving with little or no backing?
