Captivating! Didn't miss staging at all, their facial expressions told the whole story.

A big bravo for this ! Excellent performance of some of the most haunting music ever written. A MUST SEE for all those who love Bartok or don't love him yet. Intelligent semi-staging. This is like a glimpse of what our future concert life may look. And i like it. I love the transparancy of the sound. Karina is really going places. Keep your eye on this fine musician.

Karina Canellakis interprets this work fantastically. She amazingly feels every vibration, every color, every dynamic of Bartók's music. She is one of the best Bartók conductors of our time, as her performance of the Concerto for orchestra convincingly proves.

Beautiful and thrilling performance of this unique masterpiece with lyrical voice of the mezzo soprano and powerful voice of the bass as well as well-articulated and perfectly corresponding sound of all the instruments. The brilliant conductress leads the excellent orchestra in various tempi and with perfectly controlled dynamics. Just wonderful and far from crazy!

I wonder if in 10 or 20 years time, viewers of this concert will realize why there is so much space on the podium between the musicians, and why the hall is empty. It sure adds to the tension of the performance. Very impressive!

It's unlikely the strictures of the Covid Era will fade from memory soon, as the world has changed unalterably under our feet.

@@shadboltbill I don't know about others, but for me, I am eager to let that era fade from my memory as quickly as possible. Even though this is a beautiful production that has been saved to be enjoyed in later years, I love that I can be physically there at concerts again, and that concerts are once again a unique event that only happens once, with or without you.

What a perfect representation of this piece. Congratulations and thank you so much to everyone involved. The announcer at the end was badly mistimed, unfortunately, such a pity.

It there were an audience present at this performance there would be at least a 10 second silence at the end before the ovation starts. Yet there the magic is broken too soon by the radio presenter's intrusion. While time is money on the radio, there is no excuse for that for a webcast. I sincerely hope Avrotros fixes this and reupload this video. Thank you.

Also, the comments at the beginning did not add to the atmosphere, in my opinion. Just the opening bars are sufficient to set the stage, no need to spoil that with spoken text.

Eerie! I saw this staged in Omaha a few years ago, and this was similar since the orchestra and singers were on the same level. This was done better. 😀 Bravo to all!

Fine performance. Such a pity that they couldn't use a full orchestra. Some of the big moments (like the opening of the fifth door) lacked their full impact

The transparency of just a few instruments is something I'm learning to love and can happily live with. It is a very different insight into many pieces of music.
