AZ Downtown Peregrine Falcons ~ Dad To The Rescue; Baby On Back 5.18.16
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
The baby falcon fell over on its back again tonight and struggled to get up. Dad flies in and immediately comes to the rescue & helps the chick back up. The baby is still getting used to its splints that were put on 5.15.16 to correct splayed legs syndrome. The chick will have some trouble adapting to the braces so it will fall over frequently, but should rectify itself in a few days. Thank you for watching!

Father hawk is so beautiful. Pretty bird.
I have never seen this before. I have seen lots of bird of prey chicks on their back but never have i seen one of the parents help it. I guess you learn something new every day. Very cool.

Hi Juanita! This was the FIRST nest I started to record and do videos on!! Dad really was incredible and this is not something the Peregrine falcons normally do (help their chicks back up) so it was extra special!! Glad you got to see it!!

Lady Hawk I really enjoyed these vids a lot! Did that lil’ baby peregrine pass away? I love him! I do! I saw a vid when a baby named Rocky passed away . He had fallen all the way down! And someone brought him back up there. And passed away. Oh my gosh & the pain could be felt from Dad. 😭. Thank you Lady Hawk. Your vid’s are the bomb! I love them ALL!

@@juanida1955 Yes the baby - Rocky did slip off the ledge and fell 8 stories below on the cement. I was watching live and was beside myself with worry. They found him and put him back in the nest instead of taking to the vet to have x-rays for internal bleeding. It was 118 degrees in Phoenix that day and the heat factor had shut down the airport - they should not have put him back -he went into shock and passed away 2.5 hours after they put him back. I put up a memorial for him (similar to the memorial that the locals did for E14). I cried for a long time- he was such a special baby. The parents never returned to this nest box after the season was over. I think they knew it was not safe and found a new nesting area.
Beautiful Dad is great took baby a minute to realize he wasn’t on his back anymore ☺️
😢😁 Yay dad to the rescue! ❤️
Great job Dad!! This Mom and Dad are simply amazing with their baby!

How come there are no likes for such a beautiful caring father?
Atta boy Papa! Great job rescuing your chick! When did this chick hatch? I just started watching Falcons tonight! No wonder the Falconet was freaking out...kinda hard to poo when you're stuck on your back! And what a PS it had! 😉Thanx Lady Hawk!
Beautiful birds!

The diversity in the bird species is astounding -you go from storks tossing their young out of the nest to this behaviour

Don't forget the middle ground... The brain dead bird moms just WATCHING baby stuck on their back or pushed to their death by Cuckoo.... Just to fly down to them concerned but instead of helping just reverts back to staring 😂😅
Good dad!
I can’t help but find this funny
Good Daddy! Got little squawker upright.
"Hey champ, you get into some trouble there!" "Yes dad..." "Okay I'll help you out."
No wonder he got stuck on his back. His legs were tied together!!!! WHY is this?????
Sweet little birds.
The dad had a surprised look on it's face when the chick squirted it's poo. LOL.
I havent heard of that either..glad the dad could help! I saw an eaglet one time where the parent helped but its' little round belly was the problem then. It was an accident and the little thing had its legs going fast to no avail. Finally made it back upright though.
Lady Hawk this is absolutely PRECIOUS and AMAZING!!! Look at the love and dedication these parents have for their babies Reminds me of Michelle saving the fluff balls over and over again Thank you for taking the time to capture this and share!! I love the PS by baby at the end Dad’s thinking that’s the Thanks I get? Lol ❤️

Hi Nancy - this was an incredible move of Dad saving the baby and flipping him over. My coverage was featured in a documentary called Birds of the Wild which aired overseas (has not been released in the US yet). This baby was named Rocky and the nest was located in downtown Phoenix AZ. Rocky was one of the most feistiest little falcon babies I have ever seen! His cries for food or just screaming at Mom and Dad could be heard for miles around lol I did a tribute for him Nancy - he was adventuresome and and very curious - he accidentally fell over the side of the ledge when he was 27 days old and it broke my heart - truly one of the saddest days I have ever had. You will love this tribute: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dGiK1aWNdsKplLw.html

What is the little one nesting on? It looks sharp.
"Thanks for the help dad." *Proceeds to shit in his face*
It seems like the dads are more caring than the moms, I’m watching the big bear eagles in 2019 and it seems the same way
So adorable all that work baby just wants to go to sleep night night 😴

Nice job dad, baby almost squirted the camera ha ha
Such a beautiful loving dad bird 💕💞😍, did everything turn out good?
Mins, ago found this falcon cam - wonderful! Thx so much for this privilege. Have close family in Mesa but they don't follow bird cams. Belwood Lake osprey cam is my home base. Again, many thanks for this.

Now Thats a good dad!!😀
If it had siblings they would be huddled in a group and would be helpful in keeping it upright. But I suppose also then it would have had more competition for food which may have caused it’s own difficulties since this chicks ability to get to the food first may have been slowed down. It’s great to see though that the father came to address the chick’s distress calls. Some other species of birds would have viewed seen this as odd or defective behavior on the part of the chick and, since it has no other siblings in the brood, would have been likely to abandon it as to have a chance to get another brood in for the season
Amazing
Very nice.
Мама!!! Выкорми!!!
Unbelievable this little thing can fly up to 240 miles an hour fastest animal in the world. Of course when it's got feathers and its up and going.
Will someone who knows, tell us why the Falcons have nothing in their nest area? We are curious. Is that normal? Seems like there should be SOMETHING in there. Something like feathers or grass or hay... or whatever. The baby(ies) would be and feel so much warmer, safer and more comfortable I would imagine. They only have that metal grate thing in there. Why 🤷🏻♀️?

Someone put an Astro turf door mat in the bottom of the nest box, it should be pea gravel. It might be the reason the eyass ended up upside down
Amazing!
Birds of prey can't breathe properly on ther backs. Good job he came back to the nest in the nick of time.
will done Pa. What is that stuff that lines the nest? I looks harsh.

It was intentional, to help with his splayed legs. More stable than gravel.

Aa.. I not notice but when you say.. I wonder why.. Poor little bird..
This is the best video and children should see it to learn how animal parents care for young. Some say it is instinct but animals are capable of sagacity and there have been wild animals who sought out human help when faced with great dilemmas, and the humans followed the animal to their trapped baby or mate caught in wire, and the human helped. I learned in Biology class a lot and also learned that animals have much more intelligence than what science claims they "need", in other words they have more brain power than what's required for them to thrive.

Falcons so smart. Bird of prey parrots 😂
wonderful video, ive just subscribed
Dad needs to hide his liquor better so baby doesn't get it.
I wonder why this little one is so fluffless? Shoud it not have some fluff by now or some feathers on? Why is it so naked? Is it sick?

Hello the eyas was very young and did not have any feather growth yet. He is healthy but if you look closely at his feet they are tied together by some twine. He fell over on his back and was unable to get himself back up. The reason his feet were tied was to help him with his splayed feet. They were able to remove the twine and he was fine. Dad falcon was the hero who was able to get his chick back right side up!
Dad:Really? I could be hunting right now ya know! 🤣
Oh no Lady Hawk! He passed away? 😭😭😭😭
awww poor baby
I think the baby was just enjoying a good scratch against the bristles underneath it 😂
if only human babies pooped this efficiently. LOL

Why are the legs Bound?

Hi baby
Aren't the Peregrine chicks usually born with white feathers?
What are they on? Looks like an artificial, plastic, grass matt. Dude, those things hurt to lay on. Chicks don't lay on their backs, but poor baby was so sore on front he switched to his back.
❤️👍👍👍
Nice

Think it's turf that is discolored probably is sharp from crystalized feces
Why did you tie a rope around the baby's legs?
@ladyhawk
5 жыл бұрын
Hello - it is string and tied very loosely to help the baby survive. He was born with splayed leg syndrome which is where he would not be able to use his legs properly. The string fell off and it was very successful.
Die Füße sind zusammen gebunden! 🤔😱 Warum habt Ihr das getan?😢
super
