What a beautifull sound. And what a legendary driver...
I love how he still has his red boots from the previous season with McLaren! :) Brings a tear to the eye...makes you feel like you're really there...thanks for sharing this very rare footage!
How beautiful the car was, how bad its performance was.. And still Senna drove it like it was the best car on the grid.. A true legend and maestro at his office...Never forgotten.. RIP Mr.Senna ❤

It was a very quick car with a very powerful engine and had and eventually manifested great potential, it’s just it was very difficult to drive. So I wouldn’t say it had bad performance just strange characteristics and hard to drive, yet he still got pole in the first 3 races of 94, imagine what he could’ve done when the B spec car arrived..
I still rate Ayrton Senna as the greatest F1 driver.
"I have a very negative feeling about driving the car and driving it on the limit and so on. Therefore I dindn't have a single run or a single lap that I felt comfortable or reasonably confident. I am uncomfortable in the car. It all feels wrong. We changed the seat and the wheel, but evenso I was already asking for more room. Going bach to when we raced at Estoril last September, it feels much more difficult. Some of that is down to the lack of electronic change. Also, the car hat its own characteristics which I'm not fully confident in yet. It makes you a lot more tenxe and that stresses you" Ayrton Senna
I forgot how f1 sounded
R.i.P Ayrton Senna Da Silva❤️ from NL 2023
Thanks Jean-marc for a treasure...right down to last years red driving shoes. even though ayrton was under tremendous pressure and uncomfortable at williams he still manages a smile and a wave to his public...awesome video thank you. Barry
OMG the sound of those cars just pure heaven
Being the professional and brave and courageous soul that he was, he still tried to make it work with an awful un-driveable car, after those ridiculous rules changes. It eventually killed him. So unfair. He didn't deserve this. He was a great man, on and off the tracks. The greatest racing driver that ever lived! Like Lauda said. We miss you Beco! 🇧🇷❤

looking at how cars are built now, it's not difficult to imagine why that crash killed him... look at his shoulders, completely exposed. rip senna! thanks for sharing this excelent footage!

I miss him so much if he was alive today I would send a message to him of how much I loved him, and his story, I feel so sad for not being able to do that hug him :'(
when the Renault engine is a dream ! But the Williams suspension is a nightmare !! 😬

More an aerodynamic balance problem than suspension. Williams managed to improve the balance of the car as the season progressed.

Still unbelieveable he died two month after this...
Senna in 1994 had a small smile
Beautiful sounds. Awesome video. Thanks for posting.
Today, the location where this footage was taken and where the team adjusted the Willians, is in the back of the building Winfield Racing School which is located inside the Paul Richard circuit, you can see the location on Google Earth.

Infelizmente, dois meses depois estaria morto. Muito triste isso.
Ayrton drove a Renault V10 but arrives on track in a Peugeot.
its a shame to this day .. all this testing and stuff .. all this money and time spent .. and they werent able to give him a proper and safe car for the Imola race .. he should have gone fishing with watkins .. ;(

The legend the king the history ayrton sempre con noi you are immortal
It's just a shame that the 1994 Williams will always be remembered as "that car". Damon Hill did brilliantly in the FW16B. Almost won the championship and Williams won the constructors championship. Senna would have won the championship in 94, 95, 96 and 97 possably even further. We lost a legend that day. Full respect to him, his family and to the Williams F1 Team. Rest In Peace, Ayrton Senna 1960 - 1994
Only sadness in the images.
I need time machine to go there and tell to Ayrton, that he must go away and show a middle finger to this team )

@@home2frinky serious question, I know the steering column situation where they cut and welded in a very small section of a smaller diameter and lesser gauge aluminum that ended up failing (people would argue that it only completely failed when the car stuck the wall at over 135mph) there is strong onboard video evidence that some sort of steering issues had occurred before leaving the track. My question is do you think it was only a case of the column failing or do you think that the slow speed of safety car and debris on the track from the crash at the start of the track could have caused a small puncture or the temperature of tires cooling lowered the car X amount of millimeters causing it to bottom out, or could it have been a perfect storm of multiple reasons. I guess we will never truly know... or even why the Williams Mechanics raced to take the black boxes immediately after the car was towed back to the paddock to be seized.

I disagree, the culmination of beauty to me was the FW15C. After this all cars started to get ugly (Mclaren MP4/9, FW16, etc). If you look carefully you'll notice the FW16 has straight sidepod inlets. This as opposed to the curved inlets of FW15C. Try to find the Estoril promo shot of Hill and Senna in front of an FW15c painted in Rothmans colors. (No anhedral wing & curved sidepod inlets) it is the most beautiful F1 shape & color ever.
Not surprised he stalled the engine! Prost had a lot of problems with the clutch the previous year.
Precious footage ... So much missed ...
why is this so much more exiting then what we have now??
Melhor de todos!!!
Always thought the Adrian Newey-designed Williams cars from 1991-1994 had a nose that looked a bit like a vacuum cleaner. I guess the FW14B and FW15C were kind of like vacuums - they *hugged* the road!
Imagens que viraram história
It's the real thing - The FW16, not the FW15D. There are no bumps on the nose in front of cockpit, it also has the refuelling port.
7.28, a nice smile for the old chicks!

Amigo espiritual.
@pabloramon3804 Here is how you can tell if it is the F15C or the Fw16. First the fW15 does not have a refueling valve on the side. Second The Fw15c had a bump on the nose to accomedate the Solid suspension. The Cockpit front is a V shape on the fw15. and Lastly the rear bottom wing of the Fw16 is angled. This is the Fw16.

@bubi8894 It wasn't Senna's fault, not it was Williams' team fault. The fault belonged to the organisers of the Imola GP. In 1989, G. Berger crashed in the same corner at 180 mph. The crash was even more horrifying than Senna's, but Berger survived. If after Gerhard Berger's crash the organisers would have decided to put the protective tires against the wall (a simple decision full with common sense) or changed the corner, Senna would have been alive today.

I agree they should have re- profiled that corner long before 1994 . F1 got complacent about safety and Senna and Ratzenberger paid the ultimate price very sadly.
If you read the WIKI article on the FW16 you'll see that it's designer (Newey) actually admitted they made a "real cockup" of the car in the early season of 94.
merci :D
Man that peugoet was fast 😂

Lucky people there
I am sure you know Senna's driving style and atitude and history. Is it possible that he screwed up, yes, he did many times but there is the thing. I find it hard to believe that Senna would give up on a corner so quickly and slamming on the brakes that fast. they claim that he hit brakes some 2 tenth of a second after it went out of control...I think he hit the brakes the moment he felt the wheel broke. I just cant see him giving up on a corner and not believing in his talent so fast.
Would have been in his 60's now!

@bubi8894 I said it before and I will say it again. It may have been Senna's desire to lengthen the steering but it should have been the engineer's decison to tell him it was unsafe. Drivers want to go fast at all cost....its in their nature...the crew should be the voice to tell him..mechanically it was not possible.
@weallfollowmanutd

Lengthening the steering column wasn't unsafe. It was the method used in the evening.
I'd love to see racing back on this old circuit. But, oh wait, Bernie owns it! Can't very well pay himself to use it, as he makes no money!
