I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever seen a happier person in my life than him after that game. Very cool moment.

David Ayres is my hero! Like Dave, my son plays goal and had a kidney transplant. Him playing, if only for a little while, goal in an NHL game is that stuff of dreams are made of - to me, and my son. Love it.

As a Canes fan I was nervous watching this guy go in. I could imagine how it must feel to be this guy. He's simultaneously living a dream he probably accepted would never happen and hoping not to give up goals. Who would blame him if he did? Nothing can prepare you for that situation and even if we lost I wouldn't have blamed him for it. Facing practice shots isn't the same as the added intensity of an official game coupled with the scrutiny of passionate fans. I'm truly excited for this guy and it made me feel so good to see something happen to what appears to be a stellar guy. I'll never forget this game. It may not have been a Stanley Cup game but it was damn close for me.

Was super worried when he awkwardly shuffled out onto the ice with his goalie stick held the wrong way in his blocker hand...like a hockey 4 kid going in goal for the first time. He did ok and thankfully didn’t get tested much so he didn’t have to hold the fort. Good for him, his moment in the sun👍🏻
