Fantastic episode. I feel very relatable as an atheist from the middle east. I think what you discussed about the immigrants cultural integration doesn't apply only apply to asylum immigrants, but to economic immigrants as well to a certain degree. I immigrated to Toronto, and I know people from Jordan who pull their kids out of school because of the LGBTQ+ friendly education. The Muslim Association Canada opened an education facility to cheat the system, where parents enroll their kids in home schooling, while going to the association to teach their values and leave out the parts they don't like in the Canadian Curriculum. The community within a community that the Muslims built in Canada is slickening to me as it goes against all the liberal parts that make Canada an attractive place to come to.

A truly beloved and heroic figure graces our landscape with a wisdom and understanding that gives pause to the forces who oppose her. I'm sure it has been a long and weary road, to have been guarded so well for so long. My hunch is she would welcome and gladly, the freedom of thought, speech, conscience, and especially movement and mobility that I take for granted. What a gift to bequeath if it were merely mine to give. I have followed Ayaan through a half dozen books, hundreds of interviews, clips, panel discussions, lectures, questions and answers, and no end of expressions, opinions, ideas, and that long brave struggle against what is such a monster of a monolith. I say this as nothing more than a free-thinking individual western man. One who understands that the world arrives upon my doorstep in order to bless their children with the opportunity that I had automatically simply by being born here, nothing more and nothing less. The thing I need to be most thankful for is the clarity and the perspective she provides that I could not arrive at on my own. Such a wonderful gift. This was a great conversation. More like the words off the pages of the books come to life with mere sound, expression and gesture. As if a proof settles in deeper, kinder and gentler and with more solid strength than just as a literary exercise. Or perhaps the combination of the two is what provides a confidence not so easily dismissed.

The figure of people leaving Islam in free countries like the United States is 23% according to Pew Research, and 31% according to other studies. Ayaan's work is bearing fruit. Dear Ayaan: Our American Senate does need people of your Calabar and beliefs. Unfortunately, we elected a Somalian into our Congress; her desire is to destroy America. You will be my choice to represent me. I bet you thousands of other Americans that are well educated about the problem that we are encountering. Everyone knowledgeable about Islam will be willing to vote for you. Your statements are hundred percent right too. I, too, came from a Muslim Country, and I, too, know exactly what you are preaching. If soon the American public does not wake up, it may be too late in a few more years. NOTICE TO WHAT HAPPENED TO MR. SALMAN RUSHDIE A FEW WEEKS AGO. This country we love will end with the same system of Shareaa laws. I feel sorry for my grandchildren because they will lose their freedom as a free society, and they will live the life that I lived in a Muslim country. By the way, I already noticed the hand of Islam is in control here and now especially, with KZread and Facebook because, every time I write something that has Muslim subjects, my writing disappears within seconds. Now I learn to copy then paste as many places as I can. Otherwise, they have a grip and control on our thinking even in America. I noticed that it is getting worse and worse, and no one from our government is doing anything about that. What a shame. Please run for a Senate Seat.

21:20 Wahabi and ikhwani are not the same, except that they are both sunni muslim. Wahabi is saudi arabias conservative and poorly educated often. The other Ikhwani is a political movement egyptian movement. The two are often aren't the same entity or share same dogmas. She is still dramatizing her psychological problems at young age with absence of father, lack of stable home, being refugee and she talks about somali literacy of 10% level. I think she doesn't count arabic but counts latin literacy. In terms of the numbers who could read in 70s and 80s were more than that number. She lied about her husband in Kenya. Because of that she lost her Netherland nationality. She went tribal and told us about her fathers cousins and their alphabet, but somalis wrote somali in arabic alphabet before. Even newspapers and books used to be written in that way. The problem is her honesty and islamizing her experience, while she can't show us how and why in the literature but claims. It is a tactic and emotional position but nothing intellectual. She polishs the bias of westerners against muslims since orientinalism and crusaders. She just repackages their wording and lies. Nothing substantial.

Please stop telling us how amazing her journey has been, Lawrence. Her journey is not amazing in a Dutch context. The Netherlands is an irresistible magnet for migrants from poor countries. This poor African woman making her way to The Netherlands is not exceptional. There are 350.000 Moroccans, my people, alone here. And she lied about her background, and was punished for that by the Dutch political establishment. She claimed to come from a horrible, oppressed background in Somalia, when in reality she was the child of a middle class Somali family in Kenya. She came here and got an education. Nothing special about that. My father came here in the 60s, from the impoverished Morocco, and managed to become supervisor in a factory, raising a family, and becoming a leading spokesman for the Moroccan community. He brought his kids over in the late 70s, and I was born here in '84. His children, who came here as old as 9 years, went on to excel in school and their careers. His daughter got herself a PhD and is a frequently referenced and published researcher. Another brother of mine has turned himself into a successful businessman, creating jobs for over a dozen people. Another brother cruised himself to a Masters degree and has a high level position at an American pharmaceutical company. His grandchildren, my nephews and nieces, are excelling even more so. Five of them having a Masters degrees or working towards one. His grandson works for a large Dutch bank in Hong Kong. A teen, from an impoverished Morocco, hustling his way to Europe in the 60s, sustaining a family and being a pillar in Dutch-Moroccan society, dedicating his life to building bridges between the Dutch and Moroccans. And spawning an army or talented and productive people. And then you have Hirsi Ali. Who lied her way to The Netherlands, at a time when tensions were higher than you can imagine, post 9/11. When growing up as a Moroccan meant being stared down for being a nuisance and a threat to society. And what does this witch, Hisri Ali, do? She becomes a politician, embraces those tensions and pours oil on the flame. There's nothing special or admirable about her journey. My father did it decades before she did and he did it much more impressively.

Ms. Ali did talk about the percentage of immigrants, who adapt to their new surroundings and build new lives. However, she was also talked about the immigrants, that publicly make anti-Semitic statements and harass women. We've experienced this in New Jersey, so please don't deny that this is a problem. If you still live in the Netherlands, please observe how immigrant men treat European females. The Netherlands USED to be the safest place for Jews in Europe. Now, they are immigrating to Israel.

When Ayaan Ali gave up Islam I was not convinced that her reasons had conviction behind them. Sure enough she reverted. I have a problem with both instances. The reason is rudimentary to relinquishing or accepting a religious dogma that has in one instance been a part of your identity and is kinda embedded in you DNA. I gave up Islam about 20 years ago and it was a gradual process that mostly involved questions that needed to be answered. I wanted to make sure I knew what I was giving up. I was a a typical Muslim only in name and affiliation like most people are Muslims, Christians and Hindus, but only in a way of identity. In reality I knew almost noting about Islam. I started my quest by reading the quran 3 times. I read the accompanying literature and sought the help of science and Logic. I saw through the fakeness of the religion and convinced myself that I am giving nothing more than a bad cult which was poisonous to live through. Religious dogmas are mostly a reflection of our insecurity and once I conquered that I was on my way out. Likewise, I firmly believe accepting or giving up a religion has to be based on solid research and a firm conviction borne of that research.
